    hairy tyres

Even though those are copies of Metzeler, are they known as sticky enough? Is the tire literally covered with these "teats" as some Yanks call them?
  3. I love the whole line. I find this effort has a broad appeal, thoughtful designs, and a reverence to the Moto Guzzi familiarity that we know. The (very plain) V7 Stone at 15:30 appeals to me. It does not try to be mySport , or pretend to be any other Guzzi of the past. It looks to be just a pure motorcycle, ready for the roads I need to ride and whatever I would ask of it. What my older brother called a "Trash-Mo." (Ride it - use it - make it work) The "California" at the end of the video looks to be part of the helmet display and not anything to do with the new models on offer. What do I know? I have my Moto Guzzi. (And they know this about us.) I am glad for this, and hope the new generation(s) of motorcyclists value these magnificent motorcycles.
  4. I felt exactly the same; I thought the California was discontinued because they can't pass the Euro 5+ emission with a large capacity engine without liquid cooling. Unless, this is a model made to be only commercialized in the USA. But I can't see the California anywhere listed on Guzzi dealerships websites.
  5. Handle bar ? as in clip on ? Is yours on top of the triple tree or under the triple tree ? Can you post a pic ? If you can do w/o it for a while , I might can straighten it.
  6. Not zero, but not much. A bit over 200 km. . Tyre pressure was ok; I checked it before I started. Don't know the production date, but I bought the tyre new last December, so I am assuming it is new enough. Date stamp is the same here, i.e. week and year. The sprues (didn't know that word till now. Collins dictionary has some interesting alternative meanings for it.... https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/sprue) will go away in time, I know. As I wrote, I find them aesthically unpleasing, and am inclined to get rid of them with the side-cutters for that reason alone. If they might be affecting the handling, even temporarily, all the more reason to take the time.
  7. It seems they are. Here, for the V11, page 12, part #3 https://guzzitek.org/parts_list/gb/1100/V11Sport-RossoMandello_1999-2001_062011_PL(GB).pdf and here for the 1100 Sport i.e., page 27, part #3 https://guzzitek.org/parts_list/gb/1100/1100SportIE_1996_1999_052010_PL(GB).pdf

GU01433400 for the early Sports, 1999-2001. I get the same number for the bracket from my 2002 Parts Catalog: 01 43 34 00 When searching, sometimes the "GU" is helpful, and otherwise should be left off.

The front tire has zero riding time (no miles) on it ? Brand new tires tend to be "squirmy" until they heat cycle and wear in a bit. Those mold sprues should go away very quickly. Verify tire pressure, as well. What is the production date of the front tire? Here, in The States, that is a four digit (week/year) code after the "DOT" (Department of Transportation) stamp on the sidewall . . .

  11. I did not think the 1100 Sport-i Frame Side Plates are the same as the V11 Sport because of the gearbox and driveline offset changes . . . Are the pivot pin part numbers the same from the 1100 sport-i and the early V11 Sport (GU 37547005)?
  12. The part number nor year was identified in the eBay listing, only "V11" but I took a chance because they were only about $35 in the door including shipping. They're very nice, clean, nuts are perfect. It's also possible if unlikely that the other pivot is in the transmission box, which I may see before the end of the month.

    hairy tyres

As I mentioned elsewhere, I rode the V35 Imola today for the first time in several months. A couple of times in curves, I had the feeling that the front tyre was squirming a bit. The tyre is one of these https://shop.heidenau.com/en/zweiradreifen/motorrad/k34.html?___from_store=de The rear, which is a couple of years old and has some miles on it, is one of these https://shop.heidenau.com/en/zweiradreifen/motorrad/k36.html?___from_store=de and yes, they are a blatant copy of the Michelin M38 from back in the day. The bike had the Michelins on it when I bought it, more than 20 years old, and it was obvious when I bought the first Heidenau tyres for it that Heidenau had "oriented" its design to the Michelins. Anyway... the front tyre has only done about 200 km, and is covered in extrusions from the moulding process. "Hairy", so to speak. It ocurred to me just now that the squirminess might be caused by the extrusions. I'm inclined to remove them purely for aesthetic reasons (doesn't look cool...), but am now thinking there might actually be a practical reason to take the time to do that. Opinions?
  14. I ordered a set of 1100 Sport-i sideplates with pivot pins included from TLM. Either way they should work.
  15. mine came with extras... didn't look at them very closely. Post up a pic of the good side and I'll see if I can match it.
  16. Family from my fathers side in Jupiter FL and Chicago and Green Bay W. My garage door is open . Cheers Tom
  17. I only skipped through that, but I noticed two with Pirelli Phantoms and clip-ons. I'd have one of those. I rather hope that there will be a model at some point with the V100 motor or a derivative thereof and clip-ons. Not holding my breath, though. Interesting that there was a California just before the end, and it looked a lot like a 1400 motor. I thought they were history. Maybe not.
  18. You don't have to be black for that, but being brilliant helps a lot.
  19. No. Early short frames were red as well as the black short frame of the 2001 Rosso Mandello. Pretty sure those all used the smaller pins. Long Frame started with the 2002 LeMans (some Euro models could be very late 2001). I am not certain if the larger pins started with the first long frame or later . . . Smaller pivot pin for the early, 1999-2001, short frame: GU 37 54 70 05 The 2002 Parts Catalog I have shows the pivot pin as 01 54 70 60 Is that the part you received, @Pressureangle?
  20. Is the frame color a factor ?
  21. Ah, yes, the diameter changed (larger) during the V11 production run. Perhaps with the Long Frame after 2001..... Early (smaller) pivot pin: GU 37547005
  22. Thanx for all the replies it’s a great help. it’s surprising when I’ve been working on it that previous owners just did things half hearted. I know cost comes into things. When I first saw I had to have it and paid the asking price without question. thanx again guys 👍👍
  23. Thanx for the link, I have another that’s been re sprayed. It’s finding the time to fit. ive just got it back on the road after my crash, it’s the left handlebar as it’s bent I’m having difficulty sourcing and the cost is astronomical!!😳
  24. TLM has one if you don't think you can get yours right https://en.tlm.nl/moto-guzzi-triumph/us-01410240-used-achterframe-v11-sport-rood
  25. I am the opposite; I think we have too many dull colors today. Most of the cars out there are either white, gray, or black. Obviously, I am biased because both Texas and France have in common Blue White Red on their flags.
  26. Tidbit for the archives- I bought a pair of V11 swingarm stub bolts on eBay.de, which came today. Unfortunately, they don't fit. They are the correct length in thread and stub, but the thread of my original pivot is ~20mm, and the newly arrived ones are ~22mm. I suppose it's possible that they are from a later model, a CARC or something, but only Pete might know that. I'm thinking they're the same as my '97 Sport 1100 and they got bigger along the way somewhere.
  27. I had a close look at my frame/subframe, 2000 Red frame V11 and can say with certainty that the subframe is centered along the spine frame axis. It's never been unbolted, the bike has never been crashed and the center captive nut on the tail loop is clearly centered along the frame centerline.
