Clutch weight : single plate vs dual plate

Hi,

I would like to know how much lighter is the single clutch plate (as used on the Scura and on the Rosso Corsa 2002) compared to the dual plate as used on all V11 since 2003.

Does it make a big difference when revving the engine ? I would be curious to hear the comments of people who have had the chance to drive on both.

Last point : I seem to understand that the dual clutch used on the V11 is the same as the one fitted on 1100 sport/1100sportie/DaytonaRS/Centauro. Am I correct ?

The single plate is 2 kilos (about 4.4lbs) lighter than the dual plate clutch. It makes for a very snappy engine, great for fast sporty stuff. Very different riding and sounding than the original setup (I have owned both setups on V11 sports) Some like it, some don't ( I like it)

I do think the older sports and newer sports share basically the same clutches.

Thanks John for sharing your knowledge. I am surprised by the difference : I did not think it was so important. My dual plate has 30,000 km and I really want to put a single plate clutch when it wears out.
