Scud Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Since OEM parts are sometimes: unavailable, too far away, too expensive, prone to failure, or otherwise inconvenient, can we build a reference of compatible replacement parts? These could be maintenance items, such as filters; electrical parts, such as relays; or any hard part, such as wheel bearings. Some might be aftermarket or slight modifications, but others might be direct replacements because the same parts are used on other vehicles. This forum has a nice search feature: you can search only within a specific topic. Therefore, if we can build this list, we should be able to search this topic easily, instead of searching the entire forum for a thread where somebody happened to reference a compatible part. Here's a template you can copy and paste into a post when you add a part - just add as much as you know, and feel free to modify it if needed. OEM Part Name: Moto Guzzi Part Number: Replacement Part Brand or Source: Part number or other identifier: Differences from OEM (if any): Other Compatible Vehicles: Other Comments: Website link for source: Link to Further Discussion or Tips: Upload photo and add to post - don't link to external photo-host. 4

JesterGrin_1 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 OEM Part Name: Roller - for gearshift selector lever Moto Guzzi Part Number: 04234700 Replacement Part Brand: Dynaroll Part number 688HZZ A5 Differences from OEM (if any): This is a bearing, the OEM part is a solid piece. Other Comments: Craig found these and sent one to me. I just installed and it works. Thanks. Bearing dimensions: 8mm x 16mm x 5mm IMG_5369.jpg IMG_5370.jpg I would think that the replacement True Roller bearing would be smoother and probably less prone to wear?
Scud Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 Thanks for the encouraging comments. Re roller bearing: Yes, it seems that it would be an upgrade over the solid disc (mine was clearly worn); shifting does seem smoother while on the bench. The durability test has just commenced. I think this thread might work best if conversation is kept to a minimum and if lots of us post about proven compatible parts - things we have actually done (no speculation). If we want to discuss a part, we could always start a new thread and link to it from here. I suppose we could also link to existing threads where a compatible part is well documented (that's how I found the swingarm bearings - so I went back and edited my post to put the link in). 5

Scud Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 OEM Part Name: Hydraulic Bleeders - for clutch slave and brake calipers Moto Guzzi Part Number: Replacement Part Brand or Source: SpeedBleeder Part number or other identifier:Clutch and Rear Brake - SB1010S M10x1.0 Front Brake Calipers - SB8125 M8x1.25 Differences from OEM (if any): these are one-way valves that make bleeding very speedy (a well-named product). The OEM bleeder for the clutch looks a little different than one for the rear brake, but the same replacement part fits both applications. Thanks to Craig for doing the research on these. I've had them for a while, but just installed all 4 today. OEM clutch bleeder (left) has flat bottom. SpeedBleeder (right) has conical bottom. 1
Scud Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 OEM Part Name: Fuel Filter - with external pump and filter on frame, 2002 and earlier Moto Guzzi Part Number: 30106000 Replacement Part Brand or Source: Wix (and probably several other brands) Part number: 33310 Fits Isuzu Trooper, all years Differences from OEM: Shorter and smaller diameter Other Comments: The OEM filter rubs on the tank, this smaller filter should not rub on the tank. This is a good time to replace the fuel lines. You need about 6 feet of 5/16 (8mm) high pressure line for fuel injection. Cut the line from pump to filter a bit longer - to reach the shorter Wix filter. While you're at it, install solid clamps (not the worm-gear kind that cut into the fuel line). I found this filter referred to by others on the forum, some said they wrapped it in electrical tape to increase the diameter and hold it snugly in the two clamps. However, I found that the rubber sheet that insulates the shock reservoir (part #00823915045) is a perfect fit as a second layer on top of the original sheet of rubber. 1
LowRyter Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I just put a Wix in the Greenie. OReiily's even had Moto Guzzi in the cross ref on their computer.
czakky Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Many front discs listed in this thread that are compatible with our bikes. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13032&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 1
Scud Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 OEM Part Name: Front Mudguard for Ohlins forks Moto Guzzi Part Number: 01434385 Replacement Part Differences from OEM: a bit shorter in back (possibly more road spray), more protection of fork sliders up front. Can be installed/removed with front wheel on bike (removal of OEM fender requires wheel removal) Other Compatible Vehicles: 1998-2003 Aprilia RSV Mille, 2002-2005 Aprilia Tuono Other Comments: excellent quality carbon fiber Website link for source: found on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong 1
