miki Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Just saying Hi, as I lurk hear often enough to learn about my future passion I thought it rude if I didnt at least introduce myself. Im looking to buy a Moto Guzzi V11 in Australia, probably a Ballabio or Scur or heck anything with low K's but kept in good shape by an enthusiast. Im currenty stuck on a Vespa *please dont say anything, its punishment enough * I use to own a classic triumph Tiger/bonny and pulled it apart more times than I could remember. Funny thing is i started looking at modern Thruxtons, then Ducati sport classics, and Moto Guzzi's. And the bike that kept drawing me back with the most charachter and possibility for tinkering was the MG V11! So now I wait and save my pennys *hopeing to pick one up around the 10k aus mark* and contiue to lurk these forums and gather tech site/parts favorites Anyway cheers and hope you travel well, Miki.
gstallons Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 This will become your greatest addiction. Get ready.....
GuzziMoto Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Welcome, and good luck on your search for the right V11.
antonio carroccio Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Nothing wrong about Vespa mate! I love the bike very much. Does remember me Marcello Mastroianni. I have had a Vespa too. 200cc PX. I sold it for money to get married. Two mistakes in one action... Please no comment about that...

G'day miki, Good luck with your search. The Ballabio in Qld is at Don Newell Motorcycles at the moment, it is on consignment I think. It is a very tidy bike (no it is not me selling it, but I have looked it over). I take it you are interstate?

It is a very tidy bike (no it is not me selling it, but I have looked it over). I take it you are interstate? The Queensland possibility is starting to show some positive signs! Ive spoken to the owner and we've agreed on a price much closer to what I can manage. I am waiting for some photo's to come through, but if anyone is bored/curious and wants to have a look on my behalf I would be stoked! However if you look, like, buy. I will track you down, smear peanut butter on your privates and let my 2 great danes have at you!!!!! Living in Frankston/Melbourne I think I would have to ship it down *been quoted at $450* I would love to ride it down but to be honest embarking on a 2.5km trip on a bike im not use to would be very daunting. Also Don Newell said that at 36k the motor is very fresh. Is this possible? at 32k my vespa is near clapped out and smokin a stogie Anyway hold ya breath steady as she goes. Miki.
DavidL Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Good luck, I hope you get the bike of our dreams soon. I love my goose but I also think Vespas are uber cool.
Mark909 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Good to hear miki. That bike has been for sale for a while now. It was advertised privately for a few months before ending up up Newell's. I last saw it there a couple of weeks ago and mentioned to Tom that I was surprised it had not sold. Maybe the owner is starting to get more prepared to move on the price now? Here is a picture from Newells site to get you dreaming Picture from Don Newell Motorcycles BTW, 36,000km on a Guzzi engine means it is nicely run in, not worn out. No need to worry there. If you need a hand on this end let me know. I only live about 30 minutes from Newell's and deal with Tom for all my Guzzi stuff, so don't be shy about asking. A guy I know in Sydney went out of his way to help me when I bought my Tenni so I'm happy to do the same for you. It might be good karma for me. You might be shocked by the shipping costs. I looked into shipping the Tenni from Sydney to Brisbane with a local specialist firm, it was over $500 from memory. In the end I flew down and rode it back. Worked out lots cheaper and a hell of a lot more fun. Of course Melbourne is a lot further but it would be a great trip. Oh yeah, don't forget to factor in insurance cover when working out the $. And be sure to get the cover in place before moving the bike anywhere.
wheelsucker Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 almost??....only counts in horseshoes, hand grenade's, and nuclear weapons Use the nuke and get rid of the "almost" I cherish the day I bought my LM, I'm going to be buried with that bike.
stockport claret Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 That bike looks really nice (although not as nice as a Mandello ). I think you should book a flight and ride the bike back and you'll get to know each other well by the time you get back home. I'd offer to ride it back for you as i've got an aunty who lives in Frankston but you'd have to pay for my flight from England Hope you manage to get the bike and am green with envy thinking about the great roads you have over there.
Bugs Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I know how you feel - I gotta sell my '78 GTS 1st - no luck yet. And there ain't any V11's near Vermont I know of for sale. If things don't change by the time I have the $, I might have to get another Duc (or a Buell)
Tom M Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I know how you feel - I gotta sell my '78 GTS 1st - no luck yet. And there ain't any V11's near Vermont I know of for sale. If things don't change by the time I have the $, I might have to get another Duc (or a Buell) There are usually V11's available in New England, you just need to look harder. Here are a couple on craigslist that popped up using searchtempest.com. I'm sure there are a few at dealers too. http://burlington.craigslist.org/mcy/1097782241.html http://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/1058623936.html Scura on ebay in NY: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-Moto-G...A1%7C240%3A1318
Bugs Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Hi Tom - I've been searching diligently on the net for a V11 Le Mans. I was looking again a couple of days ago (Site mash for Guzzis, and a few other classified sites) This one you pointed out in Bellows Falls is new to me, though. Thanks. Only problem is I gotta sell my GTS 1st, so it goes. I've been all over the dealer sites here in New England, ain't none showed up there yet. I haven't given up, I'm still on the hunt. Bugs.
