  1. Have to admit that satin finish looks great. Maybe I'll consider that over time.

  2. Still Italian at least, a pic says a thousand words

  3. Great, it has a main stand. Those come handy for tyre changing. Wish I had a main stand, too.

  4. Just reserved our "usual room." Now, which Guzzi? The new V7 III wants to play, but Kathi says Norge. Oh, never mind; I know which Guzzi will make the trip. Just back from western N.Y. rally on it. Still runs like a champ. OBTW, my brother just bought a second home in Hiawassee. Said the ride from Atlanta to the mountains and back was just too much of a dangerous, boring, and maddening PITA. Bill P.S. Kathi says "hi" to all.

  5. Both of my bevel boxes have radial play. I don't like it but it doesn't seem to be an issue. It's also easy to mistake play in the outer bearing with wear in the small inner. There is a technique to distinguish the two I posted a few years ago. you can't really use the lock ring to eliminate the play either by tightening. I found when my rear wheel bearing badly worn I had a clatter feel through the footpeg with the throttle in a float setting. Power on and in the overrun was ok. ciao

  6. Still waiting on new bearings (Koyo C3) and new spacers (from Italy). Radial play in the reardrive pinion has been suspect, so when the rabbit hole opened up I , of course, dove in . . . I asked the other inmates on the ward if this was a form of insanity and they all assured me: I ain't broke, "jus' badly twisted."

  8. VHT makes a black wrinkle paint that looks great when applied correctly, with heat. Re-painted the bevel box on my LM last year, so, can't say much about long term durability, but it looks real close to the factory finish. Used a couple of halogen work lights for heat, just had to monitor and keep rotating the parts to heat evenly.

  9. I reserved garage space, but likely won't bring more than one bike. So I'll have extra. Unless H-D gives me a boner back for the Livewire.

  10. Not sure how well this would match the texture on your black fuzzy engine, but I really love this stuff: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Professional-Grade-Rubberized-Undercoating/?N=5002385+3292638249&rt=rud I used it to re-paint the aluminum lid on one of my Rizoma brake fluid tanks. So far it's held up really well (~3 years 🤔) resisting corrosion from brake fluid and general wear. For spot touchups would probably work really well... The texture comes out looking sort of like leather grain, like on cameras and professional electronics from the 80s. Sort of like this, but a little more subtle:

  11. Here's a post by Scud in his thread "Brand-new Scura" : https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18805-brand-new-scura/&do=findComment&comment=214405

  12. When tasked with re-doing my '02 motor, I opted for a satin finish non-wrinkle paint, ie; Ford engine paint. The wrinkle finishes require heat to wrinkle. Didn't want to bake my motor, or mess with trying out other options. I used rattle cans, high heat paint and primer. Not the hardest finish, but works for me. Looks great.
