  1. No doubt your are the first to have this happen. I believe it has to do with conjunction of the planets. They are aligned when the grease gun finally slips on.. then while pumping, one of them wobbles on it's orbit a bit.

  2. Update: All sorted. Not sure why. Checked the old filter, which still had its seal. I thought that was a good suggestion. Drained the oil and dropped the pan again. The new UFI filter looked fine; tight to spec and, once removed, had its seal. Nothing was stuck around where it meets the block. Nothing was blocking the oil pickup or return. But the filter was empty - it had not filled during my little 1/4 mile test ride. Not sure how this could be the filter's fault. Installed a shiny, blue ST3614 - but I filled it with 20w-50 first. Put everything else back the same way I did yesterday. Started the bike and the oil light went out almost before it came on. Went for a storming great ride around Guilford, Higganum, Haddam and Chester. No lights, no problems, no clue. All I can think of is there was a bubble in the system that wasn't allowing oil to flow - at least during my little test. Other than catastrophic pump failure (only $24K miles on this bike), I haven't heard of another reason why this would happen. I will now listen to old wives (just don't tell mine). Bob

  3. Wish I could post a pic here, but reckon I'll have to wait till the kids visit next and show me how! Anyways I have 78228 kilometres on the Greenie as of now. Love the ole tart and couldn't voluntarily part with her. This forum is one hell of an asset in keeping these buggers with their little foibles on the road !! Cheers Guzzler

  4. Oil pump air lock, happens sometimes but pretty rare. How long did you have the pan off for? im not a big fan of letting the oil drain for lengthy periods or pulling the pan as it just increases the likely hood of oil in the pickup tube and pump also draining out and the pump losing its prime. ciao

  5. 75 mile shakedown ride today looking forward to SSR XV, nine weeks out. Very nearly 400 miles since moving the prop shaft to the replacement reardrive and installing all the new spacers and bearings . . . . (Trying to earn the "Waving Wrench" emoji back )

  6. Been a while. The V11 hasn’t gotten a lot of love this year. Rainy in the Midwest of the states here. The new to me T3 does my cycle errands and my suddenly unreliable 2t Yamaha has been getting my wrench time. Honestly though my best rides are on the V11. It just checks so many boxes. Heres my whining though. I have (probably) gotten grease in the stupid front grease zerk before, but I finally found a sweet little 90deg grease gun attachment that snapped right on the zerk as easy as possible. A few grease pumps and for the life of me I couldn’t get the frickin thing off the zerk! Two hours!.... Finally I got serious, against my better judgement I pried it off with a screwdriver. Nothing broke I’m happy. I feel like atleast a few of us would appreciate the irony of eight years of trying to find a nozzle that fits and now I have to find one that also comes off. No there are no adjustments on this attachment unfortunately.

  7. Even taking the pan off, its easy enough to miss the filter gasket stuck in place. It has happened to me twice. After the second time it has become part of the oil change routine. Old filter off...w/ gasket- no -reach up and pull old gasket off....continue w/ oil change ... I do put a bit of oil in the new filter though....i forget which wife told me that

  8. Should you still have the old one, check whether it has the sealing ring still on it. If not, you've probably two under the new one. One pops out and the light comes on. That happens more often then UFI delivers unusable filters.

  9. Jim here. Old guy (67/retired) who still has a brochure for the '77 LeMans 850 in his toolbox. Life intervened and I never got Guzzied. After three cancers, time is running. Time to buy my last bike. Well, I'm looking at an '02 LeMans, 10K miles,Ti exhaust, Power Commander, ECU re-flash and maybe a few things I'm forgetting. Owner says 'pristine" and pics (of course) look good. A fgw hours drive, so generally wondering what to look for beside the obvious. I am aware that '03-'04 have further improvements and that the paint will fall off the '02 engine. Asking 4.5K but might offer 4K after a close look. Always thought the fairings were hideous, but no one close is selling a Ballabio right now. I also know that Guzzis are not so much a motorcycle as they are a project (adventure?) that involves a motorcycle. Yet, as we see, those who love them LOVE them. Pax et Bonum

  10. Oil pressure sensor is on the left, top, front of the engine block just above the cam/timing/phase sensor. Visually inspect, but . . . . The OEM UFI had serious gasket failure issues. As in: they won't stay tight. Consider accessing the filter and feel if the oil filter spins off by hand. Using alternative, quality filters is well advised along with tightening them 1 1/8 (one and one-eighth) turns after the oiled gasket makes contact. (Much tighter than I was taught to install filters "finger-tight" on American cars back in the day.)

  13. 50% chance of rain here today.. which means: Rain. So sod it, I’m gonna fit the ol’ earbashers (mivv cans) and spank her across Snakes Pass and back. Snakes is a 20 mile twisty, beautiful, dangerous road across the peaks that the V11 is truly made for! Just got to watch out for large german cars performing alarming overtakes on blind corners...
