  1. Since you have nothing to lose at this point.. try this.. Take your Copper Hammer and a small prick punch, and put a gazillion punch marks around the ID of the bore. Leave the outer 1/8" unmarred so the bearing will start straight. Lube the outer race, (Lubriplate is good) and press that bad boy in there. The worse thing that can happen is you will have to sleeve it anyway, and this will probably work.

  5. Have you checked Keyboard Shipping? They are home based in Tenn. I used them when I bought my LeMans and had it shipped from Houston, Tx., to Clearwater, Fl. If I recall it was just over $500.00. Their price was competitive but they offered zero deductible and a higher coverage amount. Jerry

  6. One of the things that I used to find annoying on my cb350 is the crossover tube linking both sides of the tank. It would make it really messy to remove the tank without spilling gas everywhere. Until I discovered Goodridge makes really nice stainless steel quick disconnects for fuel lines. Now thinking the v11 tank would really benefit from a crossover line in the same place... 🤷‍♂️

  7. When I did a little fuel system maintenance, I found brown fuzz in the fuel tank shutoff screen, in the fuel pump inlet screen, in the injector inlets, and in the regulator screen. The fuzz on the tank screen was so thick that it looked like felt wrapped around the screen. The fuzz probably came from a decomposing fuel filter paper element which was exposed to too much alcohol or injector cleaner. I imagine that if it got thick enough it would restrict engine power, but not necessarily rpm. I cleaned all the fuzz I could find, washed out the tank with hot water and detergent, renewed all the fuel hoses and the fuel filter, back flushed the injectors, and after all that it ran just as well as before.

  9. I am afraid I am going down the rabbit hole into Dead-nation now. Perhaps it's an obsession or just a window into the past, both cultural and personal. Most of the Dead Shows have been archived and many have been packaged into CDs and downloads by the keepers of the vault. So as I fished around, I found D ick's Pick, Vol 19. D ick Latvala was a Dead recording archivist who put out 36 CD sets. Vol 19 was the very first Grateful Dead show that I attended back in 1973. The only vivid memory I had was some drunk Okie yelling "Truckin'" throughout the show. Of course they never played it. After hearing it, some of the memories have come back, the country sound, Bill was the single drummer and really rocks when he plays alone, the Godchauxs' and many more but songs and fewer jams, and Jerry. It's the beginning of the "wall of sound" and the recording is surprisingly good for the time. So here is a link https://archive.org/details/gd73-10-19.sbd.nayfield.187.sbeok.shnf There are several other shows I'd like to get, some are only available with a few songs in larger sets. Some might be poor recordings that were never released unless bootlegged. In fact there are so many authorized commercial Grateful Dead recordings on the markets, most 2- 3 hours long, that members of the band have not listened to them all. Fish around, you might find your own memories here.

  11. Thanks Doc, Questions :Internal wheel bearing spacer length? 112mm ? and the width of the smaller bearing between the wheel and the drive? 12.5mm ? Let me know if I’m missing something Will be replacing wheel bearings , as I do every year, and the final drive bearing as well as the bushings in the shock/torsion bar Shaft gets lubed and cleaned every year 3 points- harmonic alignment on factory mark Final drive fluid checked out Cush drive checked out lubricated -splines good all around Wheel is balanced Axel nut torqued - past any reading by a gorilla

  12. Yep. Just likely NLA. Who knows, might as well ask, right? I'm just hoping we can help sort Airtight Garage's issue without him having to replace the wheel/ hub . . .

  13. @sp838, I misread your question. That thread speaks to how much fuel may be trapped in (early) tanks as they sputter out. Ignoring the trapped fuel, it is common for low fuel lights to come on with about 0.8 +/- 0.1 US gallons available while riding level ground at steady throttle and not leaning. Riding downhill, leaning right, braking, or going light on the throttle (pitching forward) all may contribute to starving the left side/rear mounted petcock. Hence why, in the event you sputter out, a "deep tip-slosh to the left may give you enough fuel to get down the road a piece. Don't be timid with the throttle trying to conserve fuel. That just returns it to the right side trap.

  14. No, no power loss in my case. Since the time I had a regulator go bad and high, cooking quite some acid out of a then rather new Hawker, I have installed a small two tone led inside the tach which roughly shows me the status of the charging circuit. Dark red below 12V, bright green above 14.5. Roughly. In-between it's ok. So when I saw the red light I knew I had to do something. First lights off, then head home. You may find the schematics for this little gimmick on Wayne Orwig's site. Recommended. Wayne Orwig's Guzzi Stuff or so

  17. I had some great fun tonight going back through this entire thread. Most interesting thing is how many long-time members keep coming back to V11 LeMans.com! I posted this one a couple years ago, but a good friend just handed me a few pints brought especially from way-out-west Montana. Can't get this one locally . . . Kettle House Cold Smoke "Scotch Ale", Missoula, Montana. Pairs well with re-furbed alt covers and Cable-pinstriped toolboxes . . . (all very, very rare!)
