You smell that? Do you smell that?.... non-ethanol gasoline, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of gasoline in the morning. You know, one time we bombed the Cherohala Skyway, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked into the garage. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole garage. Smelled like... victory.4 points

I would like to thank my Team. These rides are not easy. People say, "Did you have fun?" They will never understand there is so much more to this than "fun." There is excellence and quality. Camaraderie and teamwork . . .4 points

may be a only a few attend this but knowledge and friendship shared is top notch. gonna take me a couple days to recuperate. Friday tech session was mentioned about leaking valve covers which I stated had never happened to me so guess what. On water fall loop I had oil all over my left boot and bike. Knowing this bunch of guys checked tightness on cover screws and all were tight. Cut ride short and returned to lodge and waited till engine cooled. Sure enough, left valve cover gasket was split. Always carried spares thinking someone else may need them, not me. Replaced and no leak coming home today. Great event!2 points

As Adam gazed out over the majesty that is the Great Smoky Mountains he couldn't help but wonder...."Should I use 10W/60 in my V11 or 15W/50?"1 point

Putting this into the category of “i don’t really care”, because i like the way the bike rides regardless, but the talk of the quicker handling of the red vs black frame..... seems like just the wheel size would more than explain all of that. The 3/4” of extra frame length of course should be a factor too technically, but i’m Assuming wheel size much more so. its been alluded to here, but seems like the frame length element rises to the top of the handling differences discussion still?. Even with the same wheel, and the same tire size, just changing brands/styles of tires can yield a big change. I went from a worn pirelli diablo to a new Shinko 705 on a Ducati, both same advertised size, but the Shinko was much more rounded in shape, and the change was freakishly apparent. In that case i assume it was the front tire causing most of the change, but not sure because i changed front and back. On another bike i just changed the rear tire to a slightly smaller size (i think i went with a 160 instead of a 170, cuz I happened to have it on the shelf), and with only that rear tire change the bike handled very different. But a change in tire size, and then also a change wheel size, like with the 4.5 to the 5.5, and you’re going to realize some real handling (turn-in, etc) changes. The “hot rod” larger rear wheel/tire is just going to give that bit more ponderous handling (which is what i have with the Lemans). I’ve got bikes with longer wheelbases but which handler quicker/lighter. Not a bad thing, just a thing.1 point

It may not be a relay problem, could be a dirty side stand switch allowing relay 4 to drop out resetting the ECU, try removing the stand relay R3 and stuffing a jumper in the socket between 30 and 87. This happened to my 011 point

And another awesome story that doslemans spotted an oil leak from a blown valve cover gasket, came back to The Lodge Paddock and swapped in a fresh one since he carries spares! "Are you frikkin' kiddin' me !?!?"1 point

Haha! I wondered who would spot that fractional combination wrench . . . On my last shakedown ride before this SpineRaid, I spotted it in the road next to my office and scooped it up as more of a talisman. You're awesome, Andy! Frikkin' so cool your V11 rolled 200.000 km on this SpineRaid. And that you were at SpineRaidOne with that same V11!1 point

Absolutely awesome Fifteenth South'n Spine Raid! All-y'all are just amazing ! Looking forward to hearing everyone check in "home safe" . . . The Sport ran superbly, giving only various little quibbles to mess with me. But I am thinking I've got me wrench back after traveling over the Appalachian Divide and back. Twice! . . . arrive chiave!1 point

Let's not be too quick to dismiss Moto Guzzi's methods here... all the "limited edition" models had their names printed on the side panel badge-stickers, such as Scura. The faired LeMans models said LeMans, and many of the sport models said V11 Sport. I don't know about the year-by year variations, or which models got only the checkered pattern, but there is definitely a consistent pattern in the labeling of the side panels. There are lots of colors available as well... and some are carbon fiber.1 point

Left Cross Junction this morning; overnighting in Fort Chiswell, Va. Will arrive in Tellico late tomorrow afternoon. Took back roads. Lovely. Map here, tho the 6 hours, 43 minutes is a Google Giggle: Detailed route here if you care: Cross Junction to Fort Chiswell via Back Roads Well, lovely except for the four miles of terrorizing and unexpected "plush" gravel on Va. CR 610 from Pulaski to vic. Max Meadows. Simply awful and no road for a Norge with just repainted painnier$! I took the pic at the only flat and relatively clean spot I could find. See you tomorrow. Bill P.S. Kathi is caging it; may beat me there.1 point

yup, I bought the Harbor Freight lift on SALE of course. And added the HF trailering wheel chock and bolted it to the lift. this type (generic) is cheap, I mean frugal,,.. But needs some finessing or the bike will fall off it. (attach spools to swing arm) I made this attachment for my floor jack to cradle the oil pan for engine removal Just for raising the rear... one of these is very secure http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=29951 point
