My Sport yet perseveres. As do I, along with it . . . "Somedays I am the timber; somedays I am the Pontiac."3 points

Apologies for the delayed comment. I do not doubt for a moment that that last is the letter of the law, and -- never rarely a scofflaw -- I played by those rules on several visits over the years from the '70's on, whether driving rented cages or motos. In, however, my last three visits -- 2006, 2017, & 2018 -- I decided to skip the IDL issued by AAA (as I loathe that scammy "club" ... but I digress ), and just used my valid U.S.A. DL to rent motos and autos. In the several encounters with Italian, German, Belgian, and Dutch authorities (at roadblocks, not blue lighted for offenses! ) not one officer questioned my Georgia- or Virginia-issued DL. YMMV ... and I won't bail you out. Bill2 points

Another advantage to using the oem (later, no rise) clipons, is they are built to reduce vibes. The end weight bolts far up inside the bar, in rubber, not out on the end like most weights. Comparing the '02 LM with the '00 Sport, the sport bars present slightly higher and approx 3/4" further forward than the '02. Also consider the length of your forks. My '02 oem are approx 30 1/4" (off bike) top of tube (not cap) to center of the axle. The '02 with '03 Ohlins installed, sloppy measure on the side stand is 30". The Sport same measure is 29 1/2". The '02 has about 3/4" up thru the top tree, or the thickness of the clipon bracket.2 points

The OEM bars are not 7/8", I think they are slightly smaller. I wanted to put the heavy OEM bars into the Woodcraft 54mm clip-ons, but they need a shim and it got too complicated with all the other mods, so went with Woodcraft 7/8" bars and Manic Salamander bar end weights, and filled the Woodcraft bars with lead shot. Not sure where my OEM clip-ons, bars and end weights are, I'll have to look. I also have a photo with the OEM clip-ons mounted above the top triple. I bought the bike that way. Have to look for that too.2 points

Clamping surface seems to measure 53mm, but that may be what 54mm clip-ons clamp to? And the bars do look to measure 7/8". Or right around 22 and 1/4 mm if we want to mix fractional and metric a bit more . . .1 point

You know, there is a reason the "centerfold" was invented. Teasing with a tiny picture of something drop-dead gorgeous is . . . well, a tease . . .1 point

wow, a live, in the flesh, in your face, actual troll. I call mine, in most similar circumstances, a Moto Gootsie. If we get past that, it's a V11 Lemans, beyond that, Stefania.1 point

Maybe from the USA? So ... it's not easy: Vehicles, motor vehicles and trailers registered in a foreign country and which have already fulfilled customs formalities or those referred to in article 53, paragraph 2 of the Legislative Decree 30 August 1993, n.331, if prescribed, are allowed to circulate in Italy for the maximum duration of one year, based on the registration certificate of the State of origin. As you can see you can circulate for a period of one year with the American bike with original plate but you must have these original documents with you: a) TITLE (vehicle registration document) B) Custom Bubble (shows that the vehicle is your property and you have fulfilled the customs duties and therefore VAT and DUTY) c) Purchase Invoice d) REGISTRATION CARD (it is our respective Italian stamp or property tax) e) Insurance VALID ON THE ITALIAN TERRITORY Obviously if you stay more than a year you must provide for the registration of the car with Italian license plate otherwise there is the immediate seizure of the vehicle with the relative administrative sanctions. as for you, you must have the INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE (VALID).1 point

I do not understand putting a sidecar on a sporting motorcycle, unless it's somehow physically more comfortable to ride in that position. I choose it, not because it's the *most* comfortable, but because I tolerate it very well and it's the motorcycle I want to be on when I get where I'm going to ride it. <shrug> Don't put your taste in other people's mouths.0 points
