Heavens to Betsy! Don't any of you ever think about stuff like this?? For crying out loud. It's a splash fed gearbox. There are no pressure fed bushes as there are on most 'Conventional' motorbike gearboxes, the whole thing depends on oil being picked up and flung about by the gears that will be whirring around in the mass of aerated oil at the bottom of the gearbox as you are playing Mr. Fur-Chest on a Sunday morning. Obviously if there is too little then when it's being flung about there won't be enough and keep everything cool and protected. If there is too much it will foam up, (Some oils are worse for this than others.) and will get blurted out of the gearbox breather making a horrid, smelly, mess. BUT the 100-150 ml that makes the difference between the sight glass being 'Full' and it being 'Empty' is really of near zero importance. If you can see some oil in the sight glass when the bike is upright and level it's good to bloody go! If there isn't enough oil it will squeak! If there's too much you'll get a slippery back tyre. Simples! Youse need to stop worrying. Think a bit more and ride a bigly much more. Next thing you know we'll have a thread about high hysteresis handlebar grips or something equally mental!3 points

Hi, I assume that by "original speedometer" you mean a dashboard. Which is talking to the ECU via CANBus, the immobilizer function being one of the bits transmitted over the bus. The 15M/RC don't use CANBus, the speedometer is just triggered by a pulse. Replacing it does not inhibit the starting. Cheers Meinolf2 points

Sharp eyes. Yes, silicone foam tape is in there to reduce relays shaking in their sockets. I don't know how effective it is yet, but when I got the bike it had loose terminal sockets for some of the relays. A possible downside is a slight reduction in heat loss from the relays. Docc has written about relays getting hot. The white square covers are over single stud terminal blocks. All the cables to the battery will go there, and another cable goes to the battery. That's the plan, but I haven't got to finish that little job.2 points

I may or may not have solved my battery rat's nest of wires this way. I was at a gun show, and a guy was selling commemorative coins for something.. don't remember. But.. they were supposedly 100% copper and cheap. (Guzzi content) So I bought a couple, sawed them 3/4" wide, bent them 90 degrees, and soldered a nut on the back. I see some green showing where I apparently didn't get any Vaseline. Time will tell if this is a long term fix.1 point

Wiring to the original V11 speedo is for illumination. All V11 get their speed "signal" in the analog way - through a cable from the right side, top of the gearbox . . .1 point

LOL. That's me and no. I was just amazed at how good the rear brake feels. Not that I'm a big rear brake user. All of mine feel like wood. This one is really linear and responsive for some reason. This is a solid bike. I helped my buddy pick it out after looking for a long time. Original owner was legit. I let him ride my 2008 Tuono Factory and he kinda fell in love with it.1 point

I;ts Feb 20 now I've been practicing repairs since September on my loving 98ev. The main reason I couldn't start the engine was worn out plugs----I am currently on set #4 with zero miles----keep your eye on those plugs when working on the engine(ngk bpr6es).Also I've run out of gas 3 times while on the service rack(it seems impossible to start this way),no warning light---no reserve,it really is not hard to do!!! I've figured how to adjust the tps,it was difficult for many reason's but mainly cause I don't have a tac and with adjustment to the throttle body TOTALY out of adjustment when running, fuel would be pumped into the engine and mixing with the oil (4 oil changes),thats mainly why the plugs would self destroy. In all my miserable 5 months of repair I really put the battery in a state of over load(odessey 680),yes I destroyed it,it will be replaced with same when I have money again. The tac +speed-o(speed hut) have failed me AGAIN,I am waiting for the second service(repair)so I can continue.----On a personal note, I've gone from real beer----to bourbon,to blended scotch--------Life is good , no?!!1 point

Killer deal! I would almost see if someone might want to make a cast of it or measure the coordinates for a CNC duplicate. We're all one get-off from needing another timing cover.1 point

That track makes my fiddle moan and cry. "Killin' the Blues" The hyper-produced video really detracts from the music. There are some great tracks on that collaboration. (IMHO)1 point

I'm happy with the Shorai LFX21L6-BS12 on my bike. It has given no signs of trouble over the last three years. It better not, given the price, though it does have a 5-year prorated warranty. I plug in the dedicated Shorai balance charger BMS01 a couple of times a year, as Shorai says "While standard lead-acid chargers can be used with Shorai LFX when needed, the BMS01 is specifically designed to charge, store, maintain, balance, and diagnose your LFX battery".1 point

I have a Rosso Mandello version of that to match my bike. In other news: 1. Need some cans and a crossover? $20, but I can't say whether they'll ship. 2. What looks like a pretty clean '03 Le Mans with just 10,500 miles showed up on BARF a couple days ago for $3,600—although it is a "Selling for a friend" scenario, so who knows. The person that posted it is a long-time member and I believe fairly reputable, at least as motorcyclists go.1 point

Big thanks to @footgoose I emailed AF1 Racing, Ed confirmed with me they have one left in stock here in the US. I just ordered it. Brand new for $150...This was cheaper then some of the quotes I was getting for welding my broken one. Good piece of mind to know it's properly fixed and replaced. Now, to sell my take off parts to recoup damages haha. Now, we still need to find one for @Steve S Cheers!1 point
