  1. Update on Paul's situation (April 9th 2.00 PM). Things are looking up: Paul has come through the night quietly, no fever, now calm and stable, inflammatory values slowly falling, sleep medication will decrease a little bit, he can slowly start breathing again himself ...

  2. New Zealand has just had a second COVID-19 death. We have all been asked to stay at home for 4 weeks unless we are essential, like staff in supermarkets, medical, police. We are now in our 2nd week of "lockdown" and it seems to be working. The recovery rate is now greater than the new cases rate. The borders are closed to all except returning residents, but they have to spend 2 weeks in their hotel room at the arrival port. Good job NZ Government, you have saved lives. Downside is working from home is not great. On the plus side, I found a woman living in my house who claims to be my wife. She seems nice.

  3. Winner! (stamped: "1/2 - PROTO® - mfg U.S.A.") Made bumping the timing on the 351 Cleveland Ford motor a breeze. Was given to me by a friend who ran a Grand Spaulding Dodge/Mr. Norm's supercharged Demon with Mickey Thompson wrinkle wall street tires. That was a squirrely beast!

  5. My first logistics job as an Air Force civilian (supply) was supporting the original P&W F-100 engine (F-15 and F-16). No, I was never near a tool but the repair depot was at the same location and I had several visits there, primarily concerning schedule and parts support. Actually, from where I retired is largest jet engine depot in the world. I had little contact with them since I subsequently worked other projects but it's a quite a site to see the various modules in repair cycle.

  8. So 1 12mm x 35 x 1.75 button head cap screw grade 8, blue loctite and a washer. Cant really imagine why it would be 12mm screw, a 10 would have been more than adequate in my mind but that's Guzzi. Weight, what is this thing weight I wouldnt worry about the snoring washer if you cant source one, a plain one with the loctite will be fine. Ciao

  10. Didn’t I hear that Alice sold the dealership? Still looks the same, but thought I read somewhere that she didn’t own it any more. Either way, cool “soft” key fob! I have a huge “remove before flight” soft key fob, as a reminder that I have a hot power plug, and to turn off whatever gizmo I might have plugged in when I take the key out (got the bike that way... an un-switched accessory plug). Yes, I like the idea that it may polish the logo....

  11. The freeways are pretty clear and flowing nicely all day, something that usually only happens in the middle of the night. Someone told me that the waters in the Venice, California, canals have become clear again, and that for the first time in years dolphins have returned to the canals. It shows how resilient the environment is and how quickly it can bounce back from the impositions of human activities. We’ve also had three days of steady rains which is quite nice and badly needed, and makes staying at home a bit cozier. Best wishes to all of you and yours!

  12. And so it goes..... The timing case is on & parts going back together, then I thinks to myself ' You know, while I'm here I might as well ( insert whichever project you've been meaning to get to ) take apart the drive shaft & clean that up' Well it keeps me social distancing from the family which they appreciate.

  13. Yes AF. No old mechanical unit. The later -7 engines on the 737-800"s went to FADEC ( Full Authority Digital Engine Control) with a fuel metering unit (FMU) You should see the internals of the old FCU or MEC as GE called them. The most complicated mechanical thing you can imagine. Ciao

  16. Don't laugh about "The Cork". You're all running with the same silly petcock. The only thing, the cork won't help you when that thing leaks.

  18. That is cool. But not for me as I haven't worn a watch for probably 20 years. I think I've received 3 tide watches as gifts, never wore one of them. When I'm surfing I don't want to know what time it is. Same for when I'm riding (I mean real riding, not commuting).

  24. ^^^^Yeah, but the problem is "unite." This country is the most divided it's been since the civil war, IMHO.
