  1. Funny, I'm adding a new garden now. I've been doing potted tomatoes for the last couple of the years and built a bench for them. Now we've put some landscape timbers and some top soil down in a spot the will hopefully get enough sun. We had a garden for years but the shade encroachment or worn out soil got us out of the habit. I hope to plant next week after the "last" freeze. Saw this on Slate today https://slate.com/human-interest/2020/04/victory-garden-coronavirus-wwii-history.html

  3. Here's my main toolbox as it stands today. I've had this box for around 45 years now and the roller draw that its on I rescued from goodness knows where a lot later than that. Last week I had a major culling down of tools in this box as it was just getting out of hand so its down to the things I use regularly on the bikes and cars and the rest has been distributed to another 3 toolboxes I have. The drawers are for hammers, screw drivers and drifts, pliers, and allan keys with the bottom 2 for random specialised stuff. If you look closely you will see a MD Skyhawk A4G zonal diagram taped to the inside of the lid I put there back in 1978 when I worked on such things. Ciao

  4. New Zealand has just had a second COVID-19 death. We have all been asked to stay at home for 4 weeks unless we are essential, like staff in supermarkets, medical, police. We are now in our 2nd week of "lockdown" and it seems to be working. The recovery rate is now greater than the new cases rate. The borders are closed to all except returning residents, but they have to spend 2 weeks in their hotel room at the arrival port. Good job NZ Government, you have saved lives. Downside is working from home is not great. On the plus side, I found a woman living in my house who claims to be my wife. She seems nice.

  5. The longer that this new normal goes on for, the less likely the next normal will be like our old normal. I hope that people discover and sustain self-reliance and an appreciation for each other. How long did people keep their Victory Gardens going after WWII ended?

  8. Obviously so loud they've given you brain damage so you have to tremble post.😆 I'm NOT a fan of loud pipes per-se and can tell you that loud pipes on a Nuovo Hi-Cam will gut the bottom end and midrange while giving you next to no top end so they're a dead loss. V11's are though, for some reason, able to make a truly glorious sound with the right pipes. The S'toons on Chuck's Scura sound awesome but that's a pretty special motor as well. I've heard some very nice carbon pipes on a few of them too but fully open ones are just painful! Both V11's and VFR's with full Staintune systems make a truly glorious noise. Those who have them, look after them as there won't be any more.

  9. Yes. If you want loud, these are your choice. I’ve actually just temporarily removed my carbon mistrals to refit the mivvs- just briefly, to remind myself how nice they sound! (The lhs one has bad rash from a spill 🙁) Without the dbk’s they are shockingly loud. I ended up cutting away at the dbk’s a bit to find a middle ground in the loudness. They are definitely my favourite sounding ‘silencer’, if you want an idea of how they sound, check this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Rdq5Af7uo&app=desktop edit* skip to 2 mins in for soundcheck

  10. I had the Stucchi xover with Mistral Stainless reverse cone muffler combination and the Agostinis with Stucchi slam dunk them for sound. Ciao

  11. I have a feeling that one of the positives out of this will be renewed quest for sustainable and less polluting technology. I have to think we'll see lots more electrical vehicles once the economy kicks back in. I don't think people will want to go back to where we came from. Just a thought, I could be wrong.

  13. http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_336&products_id=2531 These are the ones I ended up with, le$$, but still pricey. I ended up ordering a complete system for my V11 & my CalVin directly from Mistral in Mandello, luckily before the borders got shut down. Due to the differences in shipping, customs duty, import taxes, brokerage fees etc and with my weak Canadian dollar, I saved substantially by dealing direct with Mistral, fwiw.

  14. Something to bear in mind with cans that have the mid-pipe welded on and are made for low (standard) mount, ...they can't be mounted high. Raising involves turning, which pushes the can outward as it goes up. For high mount cans get them already made as high mount fitment. A separate mid-pipe could always be made for a 'slip-on' if one wanted to pursue that, it's about a 46 degree bend. The MG Ti cans/kit are separate and mount either way. Stucchi is a great xover, well built. I run one. Mistral is very well built as well and is a favorite. FBF makes an ok pipe and some have noted weld cracks. Mine did not crack running for several years. I switched because it didn't have the central (under tranny) exhaust system mount bracket and I didn't want to put all that weight on my new Ti cans/hangers. Basically that stress is why they crack. If FBF is all you can find or if cheap enough, you can always reinforce it and add the mount point. They are a lighter gauge pipe than the other as well I believe.

  19. It is what it is. If we have to sit around entertaining ourselves at home for six months to a year it will be pretty drac but it's better than risking going out and infecting someone who then dies. At the end of the day it's not about *Us* as individuals. If one good thing comes out of this it will perhaps be that people will start thinking about each other a bit more. I'm also hoping that just maybe the disastrous economic fallout might make people reassess what is actually important in their lives and lower their expectations a bit. I've been very tired for years of overhearing 'Yummy Mummies' complaining about how tough they are doing it when their first house is a new five bedroom McMansion, they're driving a Range Rover as a grocery-getter, their husband's all have boats and Harleys and they themselves have $20,000 of fake tits nailed to their chests! It's all on the never-never and I'll bet they have credit cards that are all maxed out too. Sorry, if you're that profligate and incautious I find it very hard to be sympathetic if you can't pay your mortgage or electrickery bill when the world goes to shit. Look after yerselves, look after others, especially the oldies, (Yeah, even older than us!) wash yer hands, don't go eating other people's boogers and stay the f*ck inside. It's not rocket science. Chuck's building an aeroplane to keep himself busy. What are the rest of you lot doing?
