It lives! Long day today. The last pieces showed up yesterday so I got them fitted and installed the tank ready to start the bike. I've been talking to Paul Minnaert about fuelling stuff which has been great and informative. Pauls still recovering from the Covid-19 although he didn't go into details he still has a bit to go.Many things affected and it takes some time. Apparently my 15M is an early one and there may be an issue with it's pressure sensor compared to later units which affects the maps you can run. I've also been getting great help from Gritman that was on here a few years ago and has done the same thing. He sent me his bin file which is a really nice of him and much appreciated. I need to see if my 15M and its differences will be ok with this bin. Hopefully it will be usable. Anyway to business. Paul and others reccon the std V11 map isnt a bad starting point anyway so I decided to just try and run it on the map in my ecu and confirm the mechanical stuff and then move onto the tuning. The bike fired up after a little cranking but was only running on the right cylinder which was a bit disappointing The other think I was keen to check was the oil pressure after my relief valve spring mod so I was watching it like a hawk ( I'd hooked up a remote gauge). The oil pressure was too high at 100 psi cold idle so I wasn't keen to to run it too much until I'd fixed that. The issue with the left cylinder was my bad. I had to extend the left injector harness and for the first time I used those new all in one solder and heat shrink joiners. In the middle of a fitted wiring harness you cant use a heat gun so I tried it with my soldering iron which is how I usually do heat shrink in these situations. I wasnt entirely happy with the outcome and went back to the tried and tested process for everything else however I put a meter across the joints and they had continuity so I left them. Bad mistake, feeding and flexing the left injector harness into place dislodged the wires. When I saw then the ends didn't even have any solder on them,DOH so back to the old way, problem solved. I then dropped the sump off and pulled the relief valve and fitted the original spring and shims and threw it back together and cranked it over with the plugs out to get some oil pressure which came right up anyway. Started it up and away it went. Cranking oil pressure cold was 50 psi as was cold idle. Once the oil got to 45degC the idle pressure dropped back to around 43 psi. I blipped the throttle a few times to 2750 rpm and got just under 60 psi with oil at 45 deg C. I was conscious of keeping the engine temp within reason as I didn't have any fans set up. So a bit of fiddling with the balance and idle screw and it sat there idling at 1100 rpm fairly happily. I haven't even checked the CO setting on the ecu so the next job is to hook up the Guzzi Diag and see what we have. No images as for some reason the site isn't happy with the formatting all of a sudden. Ciao6 points

FYI....This is a great place to rent a bike in Rome..Francesco the owner also has several drop off /pick- up locations around Italy so usually I fly into Rome..get a bike and ride up north to the Alps and later drop it in the North, or from Rome ride down south to Sicily and drop the bike there. He also gives tours all over Italy if you like..usually I just get a bike with a GPS and just take off on my own plan. I have found his prices extremely reasonable and he is very helpful by cell phone if you have any problems or questions while on the road..they have seveal packages you can see on their website..I'm not connected to them in any way other than have gotten great service there so just passing it on! Riccardo runs the Rome office"His claim to fame is being a Moto Guzzi rider and having been the President of the Italian Motorcyclist Coordination movement for 20 years. Riccardo will look after you when you reach our Rome office and solve any kind of issue you may have during your rental." http://www.cimt.it/aboutus.htm ciao!2 points

Yes, pull both plug caps With your multimeter measure the resistance from each plug cap in turn, it should measure the same resistance typically about 8,000 Ohms, same on both sides. This is a combination of cap, lead and coil in series. Sometimes Guzzi have used that nasty carbon core lead, it can break contact and cause arcing inside the cable usually misses under acceleration because it's harder for the spark to jump the gap under pressure. Replace with copper core. BTW you should not have carbon lead in series with a resistor cap and xxxR resistor plugs, you only need one resistor.2 points

Reserved a room at the inn and a garage space. Seems that adds up to three "guests" including the Sport. Makes me proud she is considered a guest of her own!2 points

Well as Paul Minnaert informed me the map for an MGS-01 is identical to a V11 map. Go figure. Ciao1 point

At least we know why you're mad. Some people are mad, and no one knows why . . .1 point

If you pull a plug wire and put a screwdriver in it, holding it close to a grounded surface, see if both sides throw the same, bright, strong spark.1 point

So, even my 4A computerized charger still isn't enough for this battery? Sequences? I need to call Mission Control.1 point

$4750 A strong running V11, selling because I got a nearly new Stelvio which I use all the time. The Sport sits there and should be used, it’s really a nice driver. I keep the nearly new battery conditioned and tires inflated and take it out once in a while. All of the weak points with these models has been addressed, including the NHTSA recall, and the performance mods have been done. It’s Japanese reliable: add gas, turn the key and go. The bike is currently in Atlanta GA, with GA title and registration (formerly it was registered and titled in CA). All extras are here in GA and go with the bike. I am NOT separating the bike from the extras, or the extras from the bike. Bike is currently configured with handlebars. CA emissions sticker is still on the bike, under the seat. I can assist with shipping, but buyer is responsible. I have used Shipping Masters, including their title escrow service before, and can recommend them. Or you can fly and ride, and ship the extras using UPS or whatever. 3 weeks sitting, cold start video here: https://vimeo.com/406649103 2000BY / 2001MY Bought with 4.5k miles Transmission recall done by Pro Italia, CA, documented Currently 13.6k miles Open-loop ECU (no Lambda) Roper plate installed Front forks rebuilt with Racetech springs and gold emulators Rear shock upgraded to Hyperpro 460 (290mm, +/-5mm) Stucchi crossover Mistral slip ons with DB killers (removable) Re-map by Todd Eagan @ Guzzitech MG Cycle manual petcock Upgraded oil cooler mounts (steel) Motiv Cycle Works transmission brace New Dunlop Road Smart 3’s installed winter 2018, approx 1000 miles on them “Lucky Phil’s” shifter mod installed (still have OEM) “Scud’s re-engineered shift spring” (installed) Upgraded relays and relay base, OMRON G8HE-1C7T-R-DC12 Casper Electronics breakout harness (to facilitate checking the TPS voltage) Just replaced rocker cover gaskets Just replaced the regulator with new Ducati Energia RR Just replaced the angle drive for the speedo Just replaced the battery (Odyssey 545) EXTRAS: 2x Lower sump gaskets Cortech tank bag 1 x extra “Scud’s re-engineered shift spring” OEM clip-ons (clamps, bars, bar-end weights) OEM shift linkage lever (Lucky Phil's now installed) OEM foot pegs OEM owners manual OEM tool kit 4 liters Eni i-Ride 20-50w + new Hi-Flo filter 2 keys Custom grease gun tip for greasing the upper u-joint without removing rear wheel OTHER INFO: Oil last changed at 11k Transmission fluid last changed at 11k (running Redline Heavy Shockproof) Bevel drive last changed at 11k (running Redline Heavy Shockproof) I have used Bell ethanol gas treatment since I have owned it. Have you done a compression check? Maye it's not fuel or spark. Easy enough, in any case.1 point

Just for your consideration. I've sold 2 bikes in the last 60 days. So the good news is nice bikes, priced right, are selling. The bad news is I had to price them to sell in a declining market and a pandemic virus. My thought was even if the economy comes back, I'm not sure prices will recover much. You are doing the right thing on Ebay by including a "Make an Offer" button. You don't have to accept. You can make a counter offer. I thought about doing just that. I'd love to do a "Fly and Ride" from Georgia to Arizona. But I love my 1200 Sport and the 2 bikes are so similar. Mike1 point

Yeah, the Odyssey is a unique animal. These procedures are for the Odyssey. It will perform in ways other AGM will not. And treating our Odyssey like another manufacturer's AGM can be a formula for disappointment.1 point

Just wanted to share this with you. And say an extremely big thank you to the Canadian 1st Infantry Division that freed our region. I can't imagine what these boys have experienced. We won't forget. Never. https://www.gelderlander.nl/berg-en-dal/no-ceremony-but-thousands-of-tulips-to-remember-the-fallen-canadian-soldiers-in-groesbeek~abec328c/1 point

Came across an interesting fact about seals today that might be worth remembering Some modern oil seals are made from PTFE and must be installed dry. They rely on transferring some of the seal material to the shaft in the initial running so its a PTFE against PTFE situation. If you install them with lubricant they will leak within a few hours running. Don't think its applicable to older Guzzi's but worth bearing in mind for modern applications. If the install procedures dont specify some grease on the seal then assemble dry. Ciao1 point

It's interesting to watch what people have to do with their faces to perform an accent not their own. When I first moved to the rural US South, my face would ache at the end of the day! A true South'ner can recite the vowels without moving his face or lips. There is a certain "efficiency" to the speech that oft' leaves out consonants and entire syllables. I recall the actor, Ricardo Montalban, replying to Johnny Carson asking, ["Spanish sounds like singing to us. What does English sound like to the Spanish?"] RM: ["It sounds like dogs barking."] (Obviously, he had not been listening to EmmyLou!)1 point

That 4A charger will likely be just fine if you don't let the battery sit and drop below 12.65v before discharging (turn the lights on a few minutes) and charging it. If it gets below that threshold, it takes six amps or more (no limit, Odyssey says) to actually charge. One of the bewildering things is that a flat battery can go on a charger and the little green light comes on, but the battery doesn't stay charged well. This is because the charge is largely on the surface and not deep in the plates. Odyssey uses pure lead plates, not just a thin layer of lead paste like others. This is why they require significant amperage to truly charge (and stay charged).0 points

Cancelled as you might guess along with the other bike rallies. not many vacations this year.0 points
