  1. Hey.. we're all friends here. Honestly, I don't mind PayPal getting their cut. It makes it so much simpler for both the buyer and seller *especially* when dealing with non domestic. I worked with a guy in Australia on a Lario engine that didn't want to pay PayPal fees and by the time the banks had done money transfers, etc. it cost more. So, either way is ok with me. For those of you that have already paid..Thanks! I know some paid yesterday as soon as I sent out the cryptic copy and paste messages. I haven't even looked yet. Sorry I wasn't chatty.. I was just trying to get them all done and going to the right place. Dorcia and I were doing a "production" operation.

  2. Thanks for the advice guys. The pics I posted feature a Laverda SFC 750 fairing which I'd love to put on. Make the bike look longer and leaner. The fairing is Available for about 100 Euros from https://www.motoforzafairings.com/half-fairing-road-laverda-moto-guzzi-etc-laverda-sfc-750-1974 I have seen a Greenie in the flesh. 😍 I also like silver and could be happy with that. Still 😍 The only mods I'd do would be the fairing and maybe relocate the signals and put reverse cones on. Maybe tidy the tail.... wouldn't want to do more. Too damn near perfect stock.... Regarding the red valve covers that fade, arent they anodised? All the red anodised bits ive seen fade with uv exposure over time. Feast your eyes on this red beauty! Bob.

  4. Hey, good find! I see you added it to The Encyclopedia of Compatible Parts. The clear/slotted lid is novel, yet would be much more effective if ATC fuses were still translucent and not opaque. WTH is up with that change? Of course, you could still make a label for the lid showing fuse functions. I added a more complete "side stand oriented" function sheet to the inside of the tailpiece for roadside troubleshooting . . .

  5. Jan, The Calvin that belonged to me that then went to a friend and then now to another friend has now been brought back to me for a complete tune up. I did the valve adjust and a TPS set to 157mV and idle and 3K rpm balance along with cleaning the throttle body bores and butterflies. I have loaded the Beard map you sent me last summer and the new owner is now riding it 80 miles back home. He rode it around the block a few times and seems happy so far, but I will report back with his feedback later this evening after more extensive testing.

  6. Hey docc, I’ve got one of those trendy, over-priced GB axes! I have their Small Forest Axe, but I sent the first one back because of a sloppy head alignment. The second one they sent me is fine, and it’s a nice handy large hatchet / small axe, but I actually use my Husqvarna axe more and find it just as good an axe at less than 1/3 the price of the GB! I did however refinish the Husky’s handle with linseed oil and cleaned up the edge, and now it’s very much on par with the GB. Actually the Husky’s handle has better grain! Husqvarna’s on top, GB’s on bottom:

  8. just throwing this out there for the overseas folks. I bought a patch from Australia at the start of the virus scare and it took 45 days. The seller on the other end said it sat 14 days minimum in customs. But... that was coming here to US so who knows. Just don't worry like I did

  9. Notably, the Rosso Corsa in footgoose's post () has had the troubling, failed tank decals removed and repainted in a solid red. Looks great! Also, worth repeating that a significant number of "early" 2003 models are 2002 "carry-overs" with the difficult, bubbling driveline paint. And it is not just the engine, but the entire driveline. @Calijackalbob , I am curious about the three V11 images in your original post. The first two are rather significantly modified or changed, and the third is a stock factory image of the 1999-2001 V11 Sport in silver (not Grrrrr-eeen ). Have you seen the Greenie in person? It is quite something to behold with one's own eyes. Yet, aren't they all?

  10. Alrighty, now.. they are winging your way after a marathon packing and shipping session with Dorcia's help. Domestic should arrive in 2-3 days. Overseas should arrive eventually. From memory, the longest of the last batch was about 10 days. FWIW, USPS has never lost any that I've sent out so far, but I have tracking numbers if necessary. Whew! It's officially beer o'clock.

  11. Dragging this up from the past, if anyone gets here looking for answers, the gear that sits on the worm drive, and also the connecting gear up to the odometer are identical in the Ducati ST2/ST4/900SS CEV speedo. The face looks like this: The trip button is also the same, so it's a good source of 3 spare parts!

  12. Cheers, Brother! That a very nice collection. Looks like you’ve got it covered pretty well. And a carpenter’s hatchet to boot! Hmmmm...that shade of red looks a little familiar.

  15. Guzzi no longer supplies the V11 Fuse Block. Luckily I found the OEM ATC & ATO block offered for $11 at Del City. I've also added this under the Forum's Encyclopedia of Compatible parts.

  19. I had forgotten so much of what it took to install those Speedhut three years ago. I see that the GPS “location memory” was powered by an auxiliary lighting circuit I recently defeated. I’ll be looking into that and switch it back on. Thanks for the prompt to look it all back over!

  21. Aha, thanks for clarifying, yes we can turn the lights off on UK bikes.... I was wondering if I was going mad.. I had something similar in my imported Yamaha, "starter safety solenoid" or some other grand title. Took it all off and started again with that wiring!

  24. Probably '03 and later, as is said. The '04 Ballabio (red, BTW), has the 43mm Marzocchi/Sachs combo, and later discs which are reputedly not as prone to warpage. Not bad and the best suspension/brakes I have ever owned - not saying much there. Öhlins no doubt better and more costly to rebuild. Oh, and the '03 and later have the 17/3.5 and 17/5.5 wheels for perhaps a little more rubber option. I think any of the '03 and later bikes would be just fine and about as trouble-free as MG gets. As Huxley wrote: "You pays your money and you takes your choice."

  25. Wow! She’s-a-bella! If I were to have a second spine frame to compliment my Greenie, that bike would do it. The long frame, the Ohlin, and the RED! That bike is hot!

  26. Right, it's a tiny bit too big, so that's a no on direct fit. But the mechanism is practically identical, so the gear that sits on the worm drive for the Speedo/trip is the same part, as is the connecting drive and Speedo reset knob. So.... What is the best way to get the worm gear out? Bend the entire metal back plate down? Or is it better to try and go in from the front? It doesn't look like the needle comes off? Are they glues/screwed on? Seems delicate. Edit: prized the back plate down, put new worm gear in. Spent an hour tapping and bending the whole thing till the worm gear actually engaged. Tip: do not bend the back down, figure out a way to remove the front! Ducati ST2/ST4/900ss CEV Speedo gears do fit the ITI Speedo though, exactly the same, it looks like this: I posted this on reply to a different thread, but here it is easier to find in case anyone needs it. Here is a pic to show the Ducati gear you installed, the state of the old one, and the Ducati odo/trip gear and reset

  28. That's too funny, but there is a lot of truth to it. I love red on a bike, as long as it doesn't clash or it's over done, fwiw. The Italian designers are pretty smart when it comes to making your heart go pitter patter. If you look at the most recent MG models, the ones that catch my eye, and most others, are the ones with the red accents; In conversation with other motorcyclists, they usually bring up the tastefully done red accents on the different mg models. I think the red accents, are a big part of the Greenies visual impact. I know the red accents on my black V11 Lemans make it much more appealing to my eye. Just for kicks, I ordered a nice set of angled valve stems for the wheels, they came in red, I couldn't resist, lol, sets off the plugs and the pork chops nicely. It not only draws your eyes into the bike, it's scientifically proven to be the fastest color ;~) To the OP, good luck and good times shopping, You'll know the bike for you when you see it Kelly

  29. There's a great video on YouTube that compares an Aprilia RS V-Twin to a Rosso Corsa "it's Monica Belluci vs Sophia Loren". Very funny and well done - one of the best quotes is "the Ohlins on the Guzzi is like paying for breast implants for your granny". That said, both guys picked the Guzzi over the Aprilia in the end!

  33. (Edited 06 August 2010 - 05:36 AM): If you are having trouble with your relays. Some of the problems could be due to a faulty contact in the base. The attached drawing shows how to remove the connectors from the base so they can be inspected or tightened by pinching with a pair of pliers. If you need to replace them the brass connectors are standard items that can be purchased at any good automotive supply store. I highly recommend dipping your relay pins in vaseline, this will help prevent corrosion and also makes it easier to get the relays in and out. The other drawing shows how you can add LEDs to the relay bases as a troubleshooting aid, I did this with mine and find it very useful. The LEDs are wired to contact 87 so that they indicate when the relay contacts are closed, not just when the coil is energized. Should you decide to go this route, there's a cross piece in the plastic that will make the drill wander, if you make a metal template for drilling the 1/8 hole they will all end up in the same place, not like mine. Here's a picture of the end result http://www.v11lemans...attach_id=10124 Hope this is of interest Roy (edit): updated drawings: See Post # 15 of this thread below:

  37. This may be going too far, colour wise, but you got to admit it is striking. Check it out. The guy did a series of videos showing the transformation, then promptly sold the bike when it was done. Maybe he created a monster. Check out how high the seat is and how low the clip ons!
