  2. I had to look that up (been a while since watching Dr. No) "The Dragon of Crab Key" . . . I was pretty young when Dr. No came out, but there are things about it I do remember . . .

  4. It should be fine but i'd keep and eye on the mount bolts for tension and breakage. When you install a wedged shim like that you now introduce a bending load on the bolts when you tighten them up because the threaded bolt hole is no longer perpendicular to the mounting face. just something to keep in mind. It's not great engineering, an additional foot on the end of the stand or a slightly longer stand would be preferable. Ciao

  5. Well just another story how I am dangerous with tools. I decided I'd spend $4 whole dollars and purchase a new set of feeler gauges at HF. So I got the old gauge out to actually compare it to the new one, when I realized that old gauge was fine, but another feeler was stuck on the bottom of the one I was using. So rather than measure .020 + .019, I was adding another .018. Man it was really stuck. Probably should shoot some WD40 in 'em. So now I wasted $4 (Guzzi content). I should've kept my receipt. Just glad I didn't bugger $75 worth of spark plugs (iridium).

  6. Hi Bob Maybe this thread can give you tips on possible cause of the noise (tapping) in your bike. I think your bike sounds the same as my did. The solution to my problem can be read on page three in the thread. Good luck! // Jörgen

  9. I was recently inspired to try and improve my headlight. Didn't succeed, but thought my experience might be useful to share. The deflector inside my original shell came loose some years back, and though I've been able to wire it back in the sort of vicinity of its proper location, the output and pattern is silly poor. I tried a 7" Grote sealed beam from Summit Racing (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gte-90941-5), hoping it could be adapted without too much fuss. I found that some fuss would been needed. I may eventually go that route, if I can convince an engineer buddy to design and 3D print an adapter. In the meanwhile, I'll be sticking to daylight riding. I would be happy to hear of a source for a fully intact OEM unit.

  10. Hi Docc, OK, I adjusted LH TB grub screw to get in the middle of the spec...I think the actual was 3.4/530mv. I then adjusted air screws in to around 1200-1250 rpm. I didn't shoot for a specific rpm but where I did leave them gave me the smothest idle. It still will not start without a little twist grip action when cold but I do not think I care at this point, it still runs great. After the adjustments, I began to play with the CO but I didn't realize any difference in the idle so left it at zero. Thanks again, Art

  13. It's largely simple revenue raising under the guise of safety. We had a government policy here of cameras are only located at know dangerous locations. So then they opened a brand new 20klm stretch of freeway and put 2 sets of speed cameras 3 klms apart on a section with no obvious issues. Questions were asked about how they knew the locations were a safety issue on a brand new road that hadn't been used yet and if they were unsafe why bulild it that way? defening silence from the authorities. In the state of NSW all fixed and mobile cameras are required by law be signposted well before the camera. This includes mobile cameras used by police and contractors. They put a small mobile sign on the side of the road well before their location. Fixed cameras have a large permanent sign preceding. This is exactly right and supports the safety first approach. If you get caught by a camera in NSW you deserve it. Other states aren't so genuine. It's also pointless introducing the law as Germany is doing as you wont be able to practically police it. Ciao

  14. Yeah, yeah. Tons of wisdom about tectonics. Of course I got in line and learned a lot. And I of course bookmarked in order to later educate myself when ignored problems have their inevitable tantrum. Your Flickr page? Great photos, great photo album. A lesson in anatomy. the skeletal system, (the digestive tract), and a lens for once welcomed beneath a skirt. A good gallery of images; a lot of work to document and post and a hearty hurrah that you did.

  17. How bad is this? I'd hate to listen to a V11 gearbox with a stethoscope at idle. That would be scary. Ciao
