  1. Your hands will sit a little higher on the Ballabio bars . The extended fairing cuts the wind nicely , much better than the standard mini fairing on the Sport , least in my experience . I love mine and for an older rider works well . Dave Richardson said if the Ballabio had come out in earlier years they would of sold a lot of them. Funny , I don’t find the fairing ugly at all , in fact it’s downright beautiful especially in red 😊.

  2. For my light duty torquing (300 in/lb - 35 Nm), I use a Consolidated Devices Inc./Snap-On 3002LDI dial torque wrench. It does not ratchet. It is not ergonomic. It measures torque. They are not prohibitive to purchase, but as always, are far less expensive on the surplus market. Dual scale on both directions. Resettable zero. Had a nicer example, but some local meth-heads stole it.

  3. Before you put the sealant around the outside of the cover, you want to do a "dummy run" and offer up the selector plate to the gearbox and make sure that it is going to go straight on. Otherwise the sealant will skin over while you muck about with it. The gear selector mechanism must be in the same gear as the gearbox for it to fit. It is easiest to have them both in neutral, unless you know for certain what gear the box was in when it locked and you haven't moved any of the selector forks. You can set the gear selector mechanism in neutral, and put each of the selector forks in the gearbox in the middle of their travel, which corresponds to the box being in neutral. You might still have to slightly adjust selector fork positions by trial and error until they match up exactly. Then clean the mating surfaces of any oil, apply sealant sparingly, and bolt up quickly. Good luck! - Jim.

  4. Good morning from the MGGG MMXX battlefield in Cross Junction, Virginia, where the National Park Service is already putting up historical markers. So, a group of Guzzisti friends and I got together for a “Guy-Only Slumber Party, Motorcycle Riding, Eating, Drinking, & Lie-Telling” weekend in the middle of July. It was grand. The CDC would not have approved, but while hardly keeping each other at arms’ length, everyone was mindful and courteous. We’ll know how that part goes within two weeks. Naturally, I took photos. Lots of them. As in nudging 500! But, lucky you, "only" 129 made the final cut. Best, the Smugmug gallery opens in “Landscape Collage” view, meaning you don’t have to look at every pic. You can hover your cursor over pix that interest you — assuming any do, of course! — and the captions should appear. OTOH, if you have the time and inclination to see the whole story, just light up the first photo after the banner pic and run through them in larger sizes. Here they are: MGGG MMXX Pix To those of you seeing this who were part of this, thanks for making my — gasp! — 73d birthday great fun. Bill

  6. No,no,no....That's already been done!...It wasn't until I ACTUALLY checked the air filter and found it chewed through by a mouse and since replaced it was determined by a short ride that that was the problem. That's in a previous post.....Hasn't been run through it paces as I'm in the middle of the service,TB's are next and if I can get Gizzidiag fired up,a CO set,I'll get it out for a proper road test and report back!

  8. IF the bike has proper characteristics cold , such as idle , rev & return to idle , I think you cane rule out air boots . With that being said , examine them and the throttle bodies to verify everything is good. Now , this does this rev business when hot . Look down at the throttle cable to make sure it and the TB are at idle and they are ok . Play with them with a dead engine , sitting still so you will know how to manipulate them to be sure the TBs are not hanging up . Good luck and keep us posted !

  12. You must put those FIAMMS horizontal, any sort of an angle and water gets trapped rusting away the diaphragm When wiring them use something like #16 direct from the battery with a relay, horns are like high quality speakers they benefit from robust wiring. And last of all do not mount them to a rigid surface or it damps the noise out, the little metal plate they ship with them has a purpose. They look like they are fixed to the Aluminium plate but if you look closely you will see the thin steel plate below.

  14. Hey vtwins4 life. Here in the UK there are only 478 MT01s registered, which makes it quite rare. It was never imported into the US. But to put the numbers into perspective there are only 206 V11 Sports (all years) in the entire UK - even rarer Guzzi’s have only sold in tiny numbers here

  16. Testimony to our solid, steadfast, and caring community that a guy comes on terribly frustrated and ready to bail and people all over the world jump in to help him fix it and stay on . . .
