  7. Is that marinara sauce in the trans??? Or just a red-blooded Guzzi?

  8. Just started to change the oil on a 97 Centauro that I recently purchased. I'm new to Guzzies and was shocked that when I took off the oil filter cover, all of the oil drained out. I hadn't removed the drain plug first. I assumed the oil filter wasn't sealed or worse but I've been told that this is normal. If so, why is a spin-on oil filter immersed in the engine oil?

  10. There's your mistake right there imagining Guzzi had some form of rational engineering consideration here. It took them years to consider the fact that maybe people didn't want to have to remove the whole exhaust system and the sump assembly to simply replace the oil filter. Ever wondered why they decided to sink R&D money into hydraulic lifters on the worlds easiest to adjust valve clearance engine, or fitted the sports touring bikes with a sidecar lugging flywheel, or invented a shaft drive with a 15,000 klm factory recommended replacement interval, or DLC coated Griso tappets? Work out those questions and you will probably know why the made the filter internal. Ciao

  12. Not that I can answer your question technically, however BMW has been doing that way since they introduced the K bikes back in the 80's. Paul B

  15. # 1 the filter is located IN the oil pan because it is the best place to put it . Make sure you use a GREAT filter and get it tight .

  18. Ah the "Seal Mate"... https://sealmate.net/ I watched a few videos. Interesting and simple little tool. Definitely a great inexpensive and simple first step to try before tearing down your forks, or sending them to a shop for new seals.

  19. I would think so. I didn't bother taking any snaps because i wasn't very confident it was going to work. I had to run it around the tube about three times before it sealed. I went around it once, pumped the forks...still leaking, did it two more times and went for a 20 or so mile "good" ride around the lake (lots of low-medium speed tight right and left hand turns) Then stopped for a coffee. When i got back home it was dry. I just went to look and it's still dry after sitting all week. here is a pic from 10 minutes ago....

  21. Gave her an overdue clean and polish after a 500k strop through the backroads yesterday ! Sadly it looks like it may be the last for awhile as we look like going into severe lock down due to Covid 19. Enjoy your bike folks and stay safe! Cheers Guzzler Ps even the crap winter weather let up and provided a beautiful 7 - 17 degree PERFECT day !

  22. Woodcraft also makes clipons of varying heights. They go by fork stanchion diameter and have many sizes available. A low-rise set could be used it you raise the forks a bit in the triples. However, this will make the steering slightly quicker and the early V11s did not need that, so they say. I am pondering the opposite on my Ballabio. I have the tapered 28/22mm bars on factory risers. They're OK for town or distance, but I would still like slightly lower bars. Vortex made the OEM Buell 54mm clipons and that is one option I am considering. They need 28mm of exposed fork to grab and mine came with 18mm showing, so only a 10mm difference. Here are the Woodcrafts:

  23. yes, by 'similar styles' I should have said 'same style' similar construction. As in - a riser that uses the existing bar and fork clamp and just acts as a spacer. I don't see why any of the 22mm ones wouldn't work with the stock bars. Other examples are out there to see and I can't really recommend any. Consider it experimental I would check with these guys to see if the "bars 40mm" means the fork diameter. The V11 is 54mm. The 70mm rise is 2.75in and I would guess it would require new lines. While you're asking them, see if their bars are 22mm like the V11

  24. Those "similar" risers footgoose pictured are from ROXspeedFX. Not sure about later V11, but my early Sport was going to need extended hoses and cables to fit 2" risers . . . https://roxspeedfx.com/collections/adv-dual-sport-dirt-bike-handlebar-risers

  25. I don't see MPH risers with your options. I don't really know if they are still made. I had a set and did not install them as I found I like the stock config. The rise and pullback are modestly controlled by rotation. I know they can work inside the LeMans fairing without fouling. Many on the forum have used them. The best reason to use a riser of this type is retaining the lovely vibe reducing stock clip-ons. Pull one apart and look inside. The second best reason is you get to retain the unique and comfortable, classic Guzzi bar angle at the head. A lovely reach over the long V11 tank and a sight to behold... on or off the bike. Perfect wrist position for me. They came with longer hoses but I have read net info stating re-routing stock lines can get you there. I'd plan on new lines. There are other similar styles available .. anything with a 2" or so rise would likely work the same way.

  29. loosen the air filter to throttle body hose and push it back into the air cleaner housing . Open the throttle body to wide open . Turn the key on to pressurize the fuel system . watch to see if the fuel leaks from the injector or the injector to the throttle body seal . Then decide what to do .

  30. I'm 61, I've had severe neck issues in the past, a good chiro got me back on track, and I now do my own stretching, cracking etc that I need to do, to stay relatively pain free. I learned too late the perils of ignoring core exercises, so now I'm playing catch up managing a hernia with exercise. Simple stretching, walking and boxsteps have a huge impact on my day to day fitness level. It was with some trepidation, that I jumped into my 2003 Lemans, but I'm doing what I can to make it a comfortable ride. Picked up a Rich Maund seat, got the touring MRA windscreen and for the price of a used bike, lol, got a set of MPH Risers. The MPH risers were extremely expensive to bring into Canada, but they are nice kit, loosening up the wire bundles in the loom and rerouting some items was crucial for a good install, but I was very disappointed in the brake/clutch lines in the kit. Rather than OEM style 90 degree fittings the lines are supplied with straight inline fittings pointing directly at the speedo & tach, virtually eliminating a complete range of motion and adjustability, fwiw, jmho. Life being what it is, I haven't got the bike altogether and on the road, but I'm thinking the comfort level should be quite a bit better, if I really get on with the bike and it needs it, I might look at lowering the pegs. The V11 series offers a very unique slice of guzzi design and ownership experience, if I have to mod the bike ,to make it work for me, so be it. Kelly

  31. Hi Jaap, I've had Ballabio bars and risers on my LeMans for a few years now. I assume the Cafe Sport bars are the same? If so they will work with a few tweaks to keep the switchgear from contacting the fairing at full lock. I rotated the bars slightly back toward me, and I moved the fluid reservoirs a little inward.
