Rode it from Idaho to Virginia in May 1980. 2200 miles in 3 days. Back then I was pretty tough. Now at 63, if I do 400 miles in a day then I'm done for a few days. Wouldn't trade my memories on this bike for anything.4 points

I feel ya! 14 misc surgeries, need another 3 to get both my hands right and 2 more on my knees. Can't pick a box of milk outta the fridge but I CAN still twist the throttle!3 points

Bought this motorcycle in 1979 from a guy in Marion VA. I was 22 years young. Rode the heck out of it until winter of 1982. That was shortly after my oldest son was born. The bike took a back seat to other life priorities (and my wife's insistence that I give up road bikes until both of our sons were grown). She was okay, however, with riding the dirt instead. So the Eldo got shuffled around, into sheds, onto and off front porches, finally into a garage I built. At one point I tried to give it away. Gratefully I never carried out with that plan. Once I retired I still didn't have time to restore so I ended up hiring a guy to handle the task. Here's a pic I took couple of weeks ago on Fort Monroe, Hampton VA of her in fully restored condition. She rides like an old bike, brakes and all. But I love her. Told the wife I'm gonna make a room in the house so she can stay warm and dry each winter. Ha!, she said "no".2 points

I love it when people keep a bike or car for a significant percentage of their life. A tangible, physical connection to their life journey and history. I've sold so many things over time and all I have to show for it at the end of the day is some soulless cash in the bank. Very nice. Phil2 points

Ha ha Not to be confused with the Sea change of course!! Actually we did a Sea to Tree change when we moved from Bayside Melbourne to the Country. If the 1100 Sport-i uses one relay (like the V11) for fuel injectors, fuel pump, and ignition coils, that one will definitely benefit from the High Current OMRON. I seem to recall there are fewer relays in the Sport-i (3?), but IDK for sure. For any micro ISO relay application, I can't see any downside to using the High Current OMRON. Me too being a yank 'tree change' is a phrase used to describe the move from city living to a more rural/country setting. I actually got to "race" one of those at Summit Point in WV. It was the one Dale Quarterley raced at Daytona. Sadly, it had electrical issues and would not run more than a lap or so at a time. But it was very strange when you hit the brakes.1 point

Use same procedures as Lemans? I got a 97 and its running a little rough. runs strong just needs to be polished. I would. assume the values are the same. If this is in the wrong forum I apoligize.By rights it is a v11. Thanks Rob1 point

Yes although the 1100 Sport uses the 16M ecu not the 15M. Same basic operating system but larger dimensionally and without the internal atmospheric pressure sensor but a remote one. Ciao1 point

Working with a freind to close deal on an almost "new" 2002 V11 LeMans. This will join my 2003 V11 (currently in garage with broken pawl return spring) and is my 4th MG. As I understand it was a part of collector's portfolio that was auctioned off, bought by a dealer and resold. Had 3 miles on it when purchased, current owner has about 2500 miles on odo now. It is all stock except for the handle bar risers and rear rack. Excited, waiting for DMV to get title squared away, send check to owner and have shipper to pick up in next few weeks. It is essentially in new condition. (Gonna have to hide this one from the wife out in the back garage as she already put the subtle kibosh on any more motorbikes) Despite being an endless tinker/modifier, I plan to keep this one just as she is, stock.1 point

My Tekno bags are also starting to look rough. I've had to stitch them up a bit, and they are starting to look a bit Frankenstein-ish, so I'm starting to look at alternatives for replacement. I recently bought a set of the mounts by themselves: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JO0W6OU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now I'm hunting around for a set of bags to attach them to. I could have also just simply removed the mounts from my original bags, but... they still have a bit of life left in them, and I don't really want to mess around with them until I know I have a good replacement lined up. If anyone has suggestions for good (size-appropriate) bags or cases that might work with these mounts, I'm open to suggestions. I have been discussing with docc about conducting another V11 tuning session during Spine Raid 2020. I have all the cables for connection, a new to me (non-electrical bloke) Fluke 117 multi meter, a spare TPS, a bunch of spare stainless steel hex head cap screws to replace the TORX screws in TPS and finally the TWIN-MAXX cylinder balancing tool. However, I am short on both computer knowledge/ability and a computer to do the guzzidiag part of the decent tuneup. Wondering if anyone technically (computer) inclined could bring along a computer device with guzzidiag loaded to use in a tune up session? I will surely be happy to compensate anyone for the trouble. If not,I will bring along my small desktop computer (Windows10) that I loaded guzzidiag on in hopes someone can guide me thru it.1 point

Heat is the answer, it softens Loctite. A large soldering iron will do the job, I always use that trick to remove brake rotor fasteners.1 point

I have a 2015 Norge 8V. It is an excellent road burner. The 8 valve engine is a marvel. Mine is bone stock except for a Beetle map, which made a huge difference in engine smoothness and throttle response, Guzzi top case, and a Throttlemeister- throttle lock. Anyone with an 8V Norge should have Beetle's map!!! It is a comfortable bike and the weather protection is very good. The early 8 valves had flat tappets which self destruct. From mid 2012 on the 1200 8v has roller tappets which many call the "rollerized" engine. This is the one to get as the valve train has proven to be bullet proof. Stay with 2013 and above and all is good. Used Norge's are a real bargain. I am glad I like mine because it would make me cry to sell it for the little they go for nowadays. A flat tappet motor with super low miles could be an option if bought cheaply as roller conversion packages are still available. I am happy to answer any questions.1 point
