  1. I have a top of the range Hyperpro on my Aprilia Mana. The stock shock, and forks, were utter shite. Front end wallowed, back end couldn't even try to hold a line! I invested a bit of cash in the fully adjustable front end off a Gen 2 Tuono at the front and the Hyperpro at the back. While it isn't a scalpel it's pretty close to a rapier and given the original set up was less like a cutlass and more like a combine harvester I'm really more than chuffed. Hyperpro make a good shock.

  8. Humm haven't been here in a while, echo Phil's post and agree If it's a 5 speeder I don't know they type of box installed to that particular model. The Sportis and HiCams had 5 speeders with the 3 dog clutch as opposed to the older 5 dog and they are pretty harsh on their internals. I thought all the V11s were 6 speeders shows what I know If it's strraight cut then it would probably whine in all gears, but 5th is a known weak link in the 3 dog 5 speed boxes (if it is such a thing) and is usually first to go. The first signs are it whines louder than the other gears. The usual remedy is to put in a helical gear from a bike that's being parted out. My guess is though by the time the V11s were being made all the boxes would have been helical. If it's a 5 speeder then stripping the box is a lot simpler than many imagine, many moons back I did a write up when stripping down an LM 1000 box if you've never been there or a little apprehensive of taking it apart http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzitech.dk/gb_en_complex-technical_gearbox-rebuilding-pictures.htm Good God was it nearlly 10 years since I wrote that Jeez!!

  9. sorry I don't know either way but is it for the V11 Tenni or the Tenni green Griso? I don't believe they are the same exactly. The Griso green will likely be more readily available.

  10. Thanks P- kaoko just sent me their form asking me to measure and take pics of all the various handlebar stuff, which i may do, but if you’ve had success with the GSX-R 16.8mm ID model, then that’ll probably short cut the process. And before i forget, thought I’d mention that above in this thread (or one of the other threads on this topic) someone mentioned the throttle meister “departing the bike”. I had the same experience with Goldie, shortly after i bought her from my friend. Never had an issue with the throttle meister setups over multiple decades, but the throttle side came off enroute to town one day, bounced off the tarmac, and hit my knee, before bouncing into the tangles on side of the road awaiting discovery some day from a paleontology team. No huge surprise i guess, given that its just a loose bolt on a vibration-prone handlebar, but just goes to emphasize the obvious, that a little loctite (once its adjusted just right) is the way to go. The folks at throttlemeister took mercy on me and sold me a single side bar end unit (1/2 set) for a good discount at that point.

  11. At a first guess I would pull the ignition switch off to see if the wire is not broken and touching behind the switch. Just undo the two Phillips screws that lets the block drop off. Refresh the Vaseline while you have it off.

  13. I bought a Hyperpro shock from Scud, who is on the forum sometimes, he bought it from the USA dealer in NJ. Haven't had a chance to ride the bike with it installed yet, but I'm sure it will be an improvement

  14. Interestingly docc the later bikes had an 8mm bolt here, maybe to address the loosening issue. Ciao

  16. Not only could riding off with a V11 sidestand down be demoralizing or injurious, the attachment to the sump spacer and timing chain cover can wreak a ridiculous amount of damage and take the bike out of service. This is a fair time, I suppose, to post a reminder to address the proper tightening of these fasteners at one of the V11's Achilles' Heels. The large upper bolt is torqued to 70-75 Nm! One of the few specific torque values in the Workshop Manual . . .

  18. A more elegant solution, in the event the Sidestand Switch will not close and energize the Run Switch is to lift the seat and "hot wire" the middle/#3 relay (30 -> 87) bypassing the neutral switch and its relay to energize the Run Switch hot off the Ignition Switch. About 3 cm of wire would do it. Of course, LowRyter's issue is the opposite: Sidestand Switch stuck closed. Makes my want to tap on it with a suitable persuasion device . . .

  19. Guy's When are you going to do a REAL Southern Spine raid ?? Like the Southern hemisphere per chance!! You could call it the EXTREME Southern Spine Raid perhaps ? Seriously though, hope the planets align and it's a goer for you all.Have a bloody good time and enjoy it eh. It would be a hoot to be able to be there and catch up for a ride and a few sherbets afterwards. Take plenty of photos for us down here eh!! Cheers Guzzler

  20. The Hyperpro looks good but dont exclude Wilbers as an option. I've worked on Ohlins (Proper race Ohlins as well as the "production" ones) Penske, Marzocchi, Bitubo and the std stuff and the Wilbers is a high quality unit they will build to a spec for your use and weight. I've run one for years. Just putting it out there as another option. Ciao

  21. A quick update. I received my speedo back from Joel Levine this afternoon. Prior to shipping he explained that the V11 speedo is a Chinese replica of a basic Japanese speedo but made with cheap materials. Apparently there is/was a Chinese factory in Italy manufacturing these IT speedos. He rebuilds the Guzzi speedos with refurbished Japanese parts. Long story short, I reinstalled and it appears to be running fine following a spirited 20 minute ride. So all good on the speedo front. Also, the trip meter knob sold on MG Cycles is a perfect OEM fit where mine was broken. Now to solve the intermittent starting issue! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  22. I had this same problem recently, that left me stranded a handful of miles from home. Then it left me stranded again (after I fixed the wrong problem LOL). Then it almost left me stranded a 3rd time when the fix (soldering job) decided to un-fix itself. Finally, the stator was replaced and all was right in the world again. The frustrating part of it was that the charging "idiot light" was true to its name, and acted like an idiot - either not lighting up at all, or briefly coming on and going out again a short time later. This, combined with my general disdain for idiot lights, prompted me to wire up a compact volt meter I got from Aerostitch. Hopefully, no more surprises in the future. __Jason

  23. Here is ElectroSport's solution to heat fragility and strain relief for these long known failure points on the V11 stator ($154.00US). I'll be swapping this new unit onto the Sport and re-engineering the old stator's connections as a spare . . .

  26. If there's one thing a Guzzi or any big air cooled V twin doesn't need it's something impeding airflow to the cylinders, let alone the hottest area of the cylinders. Do people not rationalise this stuff before going ahead with something like this? Apart from that it looks Shite in my opinion, but thats to be expected from someone that runs the Quad-D tin can and, Ahem, bar end mirrors:) He's achieved the trifecta of bad taste here. Ciao

  28. Hey vtwins4 life. Here in the UK there are only 478 MT01s registered, which makes it quite rare. It was never imported into the US. But to put the numbers into perspective there are only 206 V11 Sports (all years) in the entire UK - even rarer Guzzi’s have only sold in tiny numbers here
