  2. This! As I spend an awful lot of time saying about the CARC bikes in general, love them for what they are. Not what they're not! You can make a superb 'Road' bike out of a Griso but even if you could get it to make 130hp, which you can't, it would still be utterly uncompetitive as a track tool. And before people start bleating at me that they've seen Dyno charts showing preposterous claimed power outputs I can assure you that having built a couple of 1400 Hi-Cams now and had Mark log build maps for them there are several things about these 'Super Hi-Cams' that just don't cut the mustard. You want to understand? Sit down with me one day and I'll go through it but I'm not going to waste my time 'splainin' it on the internets because people will still believe in the unicorns because that's what people want! Some of them anyway.....

  3. Yes the Guareschi brothers kit. It's very nice but have a think. You are taking an engine, transmission and final drive that is totally unsuited to a cutting edge pointy ended sports motorcycle and creating something thats trying to be just that. It's wheelbase is too long by a mile, its way to heavy, its an across the frame V twin, its not water cooled. I like the engine and drive system just fine but you're wasting your time using it in this context. Its natural element is in a GT style road bike. A Griso is about as close to a "sports bike" as this engine , gearbox and drive line should be to a cutting edge sports bike/track orientated tool. Ciao

  7. Well, I don't think anyone here thinks any motorcycle is actually useful. Abject silliness is what it is all about.. and there are many in SoCal that will pony up their pocket change for something like this. I, too, have seen Todd's work.. and it is first class. Is it for me? No. Make that Hell No.

  8. Sorry but the additional information makes it an even more pointless exercise in my mind. You've actually just reinforced how ridiculous it really is. Offers a supercharger option! If ever there was proof needed of abject silliness there it is. Ciao

  9. What makes you think we haven't? I even watched the "mood" touchy feely extended sponsored video/commercial. Ciao

  10. If you get over to GrisoGhetto & do a search you'll find quite a few people who have tweeked the Griso suspension. From the price conscious to the former racer spending what he considers to be a modest amount but good value with a suspension star. On my 2013 I purchased a used Ohlins from an Aprilia RSV4, had it rebuilt & changed the spring to better suit my weight. The Showa forks are good enough for various Aprilias, GSX-R's & Honda CBR600's over the years. Have them rebuilt by someone changing the springs & re valving them. Racetech or Ohlins sell valves that fit. It is something of a dark art so if you can find a suspension specialist nearby that will help enormously. I like my Griso's set up to the degree that I'm swapping the forks on my 2004 V11 Sport to Showa's & will see how that works.

  14. In remodeling my garage I wanted to hang some "garage art." One of the pieces I wanted was a 24 x 36 poster of the original design for the V11 LeMans submitted to Moto Guzzi from Marabese Designs. It is discussed on page 2 of this topic. Here is how I created one for under $50. Brian Boles is hosting the 250 mb file. 250 mb is 24 x 36 at 300 dpi. 300 dpi is magazine quality. Click on this link and download the file to a zip drive. http://www.brianboles.org/img/Stuff/V11_Proposal.tiff I took the zip drive to Staples who printed a 24 x 36 poster for $29.95 To frame it I went to WalMart and bought the $10 frame kit. It contains everything you need. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-24x36-Thin-Poster-and-Picture-Frame-Black/883237 The whole project took an afternoon. My wife thinks it looks good enough to bring in the house. (see below.) Mike

  15. Docc - thanks for the kind words ... I'm so sorry to learn of the loss of your friend. It never ceases to surprise me how emotional our attachment to these, or other bikes, or things generally ... can become. I think it may also explain why so many of us have been around here for so long ... not just for the bikes, but also the people that ride them and their stories. Gio
