I had a few people reach out so I just wanted to follow up after my last message, I know that the classifieds isn't the right place to wander, but since a few reached out I just wanted to let folks know why I disappeared from my own thread. My son is only 1 1/2 years old and was diagnosed with a large tumor in his belly, you never imagine how tough it is to hear cancer and your child's name in the same sentence. He had emergence surgery last Monday to take out a very large tumor and his right kidney, he begins chemo today. the type of cancer has a very high survivability prognosis. based upon the type, and the pathology, though he still requires 18 weeks of chemo and a following for about 10 years. we are grateful that he survived the surgery and will come today. tough road ahead for us and my little man, but we believe we are all going to be ok at the end of this journey with him based upon the very favorable prognosis. I will move to a new thread for the bar ends, in the mean time, if you are searching for a set, send me a private message, the bike is still up for sale, with a new path for the funds from the sale.4 points

Oh, and remember there is an angle drive at the upper end attached to the back of the speedometer, itself. Sometimes, tightening those fasteners, and especially the cinch collar at the gearbox, helps quell the St. Vitus Dance of the speed-needle . . .2 points

He was about the right age for that unexpected heart attack if he hadn't been keeping up with his yearly physical exam. That was about the age I had to start staying on top of various heart related issues. My half brother died suddenly at 52. (!) I have a half sister that is still going strong at 93, though.. Just the same, the Reaper told me that tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Enjoy life..2 points

Nice idea, but just seems like it would be something else to accumulate mud 😂 I placed the two magnets on the underside of the filter, and so far... they've stayed in place, and out-of-sight. I'm curious if they stay put for the life of the filter... time will tell. __Jason1 point

I've ridden pretty much this entire season with no speedo. It's a long saga, but the point I want to make is that my speedo is not even connected... in fact, there is currently no cable present on the bike to even connect it to if I wanted to... and the needle still jumps around at ~0 MPH much as it did when it was hooked up and working. It just always bounced around. I guess I got used to it. I was rather surprised to see it jumping around with nothing connected, though. I attribute it to Italian speedo "character" 🙄 __Jason1 point

Thanks Chuck,, it's a great place for riding, not to many cages to see in my pictures, and the curbs can even be interesting doing 80km on the roads I usually ride on. Just a few 4lane hways up here, but those are only fun when you are stretching the rods = Autobahn is in Norway 17000km this summer, not going any place. Cheers tom.1 point

Woohooo! Chuck, my Lucky Phil shifter brackets arrived today. They are gorgeous! The colors and paint are very nice, and the pieces look and feel great. It’s nice to have one of each color. No doubt there’s a Scura or Rosso Corsa in my future, and which ever once of these doesn’t go on the red frame greenie will be reserved for the “yes, she will be mine” bike. In the meantime, it’s going on the tree this year, right up at the top next to the disco mirror ball and glow-in-the-dark typewriter ornaments. Beautiful work, Chuck. Thank you! Next time that you’re in SoCal, Joe Jost’s is on me!1 point

Yesterday was a tragic day for another motorcyclist. I am posting this on several Guzzi sites and sent email to same effect to folks I know: Kathi and I had gone to Lexington, Virginia, on a spur-of-the-moment anniversary getaway. She was in the Mini; I, on the EV. I got a great fall ride in; we both walked the BRP for a few miles. It’s a lovely area at near-peak fall foliage time. It was a very nice overnighter. My return ride became a nightmare. After I left Lexington and did a few miles on SR 39 — a great twisting delight I knew well — I turned north on SR 252. This was a “new road” for me. After a few great miles, I caught up with two cruiser riders. These guys were skilled, and it was fun following them on a road that they clearly knew well. The first guy set a fine pace and his lines through all curves were textbook examples. The second rider did the same. I did not once see a misstep; following them kept me from mistakes, too. Then, just after we had all topped a hill with a right-hand curve, and were through that turn, the second rider inexplicably went off the road into a ditch, was tossed from the motorcycle, became a flailing rag-doll, and hit a telephone pole. He was alive when I got to him, but unconscious. His buddy — they appeared to be in their ’50’s, and had known each other since the third grade — was composed but understandably distraught. The downed rider died before EMS and LEO’s arrived. I should add that all Augusta County first responders — the state trooper (in charge of the scene); deputy sheriffs; and EMS personnel — were at the scene in astonishing times and were all very professional. Yes, the unfortunate rider wore a helmet, but no ATGATT — “All The Gear All The Time” for non-motorcyclists getting this; Kathi and I always wear it, plus Helite airbag vests. That said, I doubt that any amount of protective gear would have saved him. Difficult to “unsee" or forget that afternoon. Here's the brief news story and "not graphic" pix of mine of the aftermath. The second pic shows the hill, curve, ditch, pole, and ruts from the motorcycle’s entry. I can only speculate that he had a medical event or fell into the “target fixation” trap. https://www.whsv.com/video/2020/10/16/man-killed-augusta-county-motorcycle-crash-2/ How quickly an otherwise great day on a motorcycle can become a sad afternoon on a country road. Bill P.S. Yes, of course, I will continue to ride, but add this experience to my reasons to be vigilant.0 points
