  1. Finished making the fork cap extensions that are to go on the V11’s Showa forks. I had a welder add the aluminum tube & then I turned the rough fabrication on my mini-lathe. Thanks to Chuck for the long distance coaching which got me through the initial set up. Machined the ‘nut’ today & am quite pleased.

  2. Hiya Pete.. yeah, not posting much. One handed "hunting and pecking" sucks. Finished the wings except for varnish a couple of days before I went to the cutter. We've been (probably) over cautious, but so far so good. Thanks for asking..

  3. I can reattach the stick with heat resisting epoxy if you'd like. And you can borrow my original plastic dipstick while it's curing.

  4. I did the same, added the fairing to my Griso. Made up some brackets & moved the headlight forward but am pleased with the result.

  7. Maybe, but it doesn't fall to bits. If you have a roper plate then fill the engine until the oil level is at the bottom of the plate( look through the fill hole with a torch, easy to see) then dip the std stick in until it stops, dont screw it in. Then remove it and see where the oil level is on the stick and drill a 1.5mm hole in the stick at the indicated level. Easy to do and easy to now see the full level. Ciao

  12. Sparklehorse has been receiving quite a bit of airplay in my little motorcycle shop the last couple of years. Sparklehorse is an acquired taste, but I have come around and enjoy the originality very much. I purchased a 93 1000S that had been owned by Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse until his untimely demise. I must be honest that I had never heard of Sparklehorse until I bought Mark's bike. I spent some time getting to know more about Mark and his band, Sparklehorse through internet research and was amazed by how many Sparklehorse videos there are on YouTube. I purchased a few of his CDs and started playing them while fettling his old bike. Listening to Mark sing and play while working on his old bike certainly added an extra dimension to wrenching. Here is a picture of Mark on his beloved 1000S. I have gotten to know one of his long time band mates a bit and he told me Mark absolutely loved this bike. Current state after an extensive fettling. I am recovering from hip replacement just 3 weeks ago, so the bikes are already in their winter hibernation mode.

  13. Over the years, this community has developed some very solid and reliable approaches to common issues of the V11 Moto Guzzi. While there are several excellent threads to be found in Frequently Asked Questions, those topics are closed to replies. All of the pinned technical threads that were in this Technical Topics subforum are now pinned in "How to . . ." While looking into common V11 issues, and their solutions, be certain to spend some time looking through those pinned threads. They are open for ongoing discussion and contain invaluable insight and solutions. As always, Technical Topics is the best place to reply to and post technical discussion.

  14. Went to check the oil level in VII and found stick had fallen off dipstick! Luckily it had jammed in Pete's surge plate rather than bounce around and cause damage This was the first thing I changed when I purchased the VII. Original plastic one was useless. Hard to read and differcult to screw in. Anyway I'm in the market for a new dipstick if anyone has one for sale
