  1. Scura #600 - new to me today. Just sold my old Scura w/ Coppa paint job couple months ago and the garage just didn’t feel complete anymore. This one was apparently on and off the market a couple times and popped up again yesterday.......brought it home today. Will need a little TLC, but I’m excited nonetheless.

  2. Last year I did not go to Fiji because of Covid. All the other years I didn't go because I was poor.

  4. Responding to Kane triples are all 54mm so they'll work either way. The neck post and bearings..? I ain't positive but why would they be different? Overall length of the Ohlins is 20 - 23 mm longer than the early front legs. You'll just have to run them up into the clamps a bit to maintain the same geometry. All the post '01 bike forks are longer to accommodate the new frame specs and allow for the new style clip-on. I'm still of the opinion that the later frame was designed primarily for the addition of the LeMans to the expanding line. The axle, I do not know but the correct axle and spacer should come with the forks. Front wheel and bearing 'should' be the same

  7. Apologies Phil It's running Motul 300V 15/50 full synth. All tests have been conducted on that oil, so differing results have nothing to do with changes to the lubricant. Yes at the moment it's running the 1100 Sport PRV no spacer, Griso spring. The 1100 sport valve is the same part as the OEM HiCam engine's valve, the only difference is the spring, which of course is changed out for the Griso. I have another valve from TLM and awaiting a Griso spring for it. When that arrives I plan to douse the valve in oil and change to the Griso spring adding a 3mm, or 3mm with a 1mm spacer on top (effectively giving a 2mm spacer) onto the spring to preload it. The idea being it ups the setpoint and the extra preload on the spring might help drive the piston in the valve shut at higher oil temps (lower viscosity), in my case that would be normal running temperature of 80C and above where I think the valve will be completely closed. I could be wrong but I believe these valves are quite sensitive and should be liberally oiled when tested. If not the piston faces could get scratched and results in the valve passing even more than it does when it's new. If none of that improves anything I can see a move to 60 grade oil in my stars. I think Paul Daytona and one or two others already run the 60 grade. Differences will probably be ngligable, but as my engine runs hot, I think it's a reasonable move, if I still want to increase the pressure a little. One thing at a time though and change out the valve first. At the moment though I'm pretty happy thanks to all the help I've upped the pressure at least 10psi and probably a good deal more. So thank you to everybody for the assistance and it's nice to see some light at the end of very long tunnel

  13. @BramF, a broken wire at the sensor is probably most common. Especially after some "handling." Resoldering the wire to the sensor base, then applying an epoxy retention blob (I'm sure there is a better technical name for that known method!) may save the day . . .

  14. Bram , search for a used unit for your bike on eBay or something similar where you live . Read this entire thread for a good education while you're not doing anything . Whatever you get , make sure it has the same connector !

  16. Good info John, but one important data point missing. Oil viscosity and type? Full synthetic or semi synth? Grade? BTW I'd leave the belly pan off myself. Looks good and will cool better. Confirm this is with the 1100 Sport PRV without the spacer? Ciao

  17. Look at my thread on "porosity" John. The 2 fwd and aft side rocker cover screws are inside the cover oring line and so subject to oil in the head and can the supposed blind holes can sometimes be over drilled from the factory so oil migrates down the threads and finds its way out to the external surface. The cam carrier assemblies on the heads are also prone to porosity and they weep there as well. Ciao

  19. Check out these Germans on the Nurburgring. Scroll down in the video's section to "One green hell, please". Note these are road bikes and they know their way around. I rode the ring back in 1984 on a touring BMW and that was interesting enough. https://www.gaskrank.tv/rennstrecken/nuerburgring-nordschleife/ Ciao

  20. Thank you for making me welcomed - I'll start a thread in the appropriate space to talk about the V11 and 1100 Sport. If I'm honest, I like the looks of 1100 sport and it seems to be a more focused ride. However, the V11 Lemans is a hell of a bike as well... Not in a hurry!

  21. Was able to spend some time in the shop today and changed the engine oil (and filter), gearbox oil, and rear transmission box oil. Got some fresh fuel, wet the tank, crossed my fingers, and hit the starter button. It's alive!!! Let it run for a bit, no leaks or issues, and went for a spin around the block. I had a huge grin on my face. Next stop will be to the DMV for the tag. Felt like I was on such a roll I even changed the ignition starter switch on my '78 Pinto. Unfortunately that battery is suffering from sulfation and wouldn't even take a charge. Pulled it and off to get a replacement tomorrow if work cooperates.

  24. One of the adverse effects I discovered running Sat-Nav is the Tractor Beam Effect. Oh, you think the "tractor beam" is the thing of Star Speck science fictionalism? Turns out, if you are the guy with the nav, and know the way, various elements may become magnetically attracted to your trajectory, as if by "tractor beam." Even if those "elements" follow too closely and are discovered to have failed brakes . . . A FireTruck in a parade, followed closely by two competing marching bands. After seeing those following distances, and learning that one of the bikes was running on a brake failure, I changed my Sat-Nav protocols . . .

  25. New Zealand has just had a second COVID-19 death. We have all been asked to stay at home for 4 weeks unless we are essential, like staff in supermarkets, medical, police. We are now in our 2nd week of "lockdown" and it seems to be working. The recovery rate is now greater than the new cases rate. The borders are closed to all except returning residents, but they have to spend 2 weeks in their hotel room at the arrival port. Good job NZ Government, you have saved lives. Downside is working from home is not great. On the plus side, I found a woman living in my house who claims to be my wife. She seems nice.
