  2. I was typing in this exact moment, Scura is coming home with me this week (hopefully on friday), so deal was made. It's the N. 595 and comes with some "adjustments", as said before it mounts the 1151 (?) cc kit (two valves),new cams/double plate clutch etc.. (original engine had oil spilling problems) Quat D exhaust is street legal (didn't know about that) Tail/rear fender was handmade by the actual owner. He did severals in 2002-2005 and are still mounted on some bikes in italy. I hope to post more details before the weekend, now I'll prepare a tool kit to be mounted somewhere (It's a guzzi, you know)

  6. Good question, @Tomchri. Looking to split the relay content to a thread of its own. Too important to bury.

  7. The Chinese GEI relays Dan has been selling all this time (after he stopped selling Bosch) are only just better than the Tyco, which are the worst ever. Dan's a great guy. But he doesn't "know" the loads on these relays in the V11. These relays and the loads have been meticulously evaluated by expert contributors. Running 22.5 amps through a 20 amp NO relay contact? Or 13 amps through a 10 amp NC relay contact? Just doesn't make sense once one "knows." YMMV. Carry spares and know how to spot a V11 relay failure. Learn which ones are under-stressed and can be swapped into a heavy load position in a pinch. Just moving them around and hoping for the best is far from ideal.

  8. Sorry mate I've just seen this. I went with RSC as in Doc's photo and it's mounted in same spot as the original! They do look pretty good I must admit.( I got a black one ) Ha ha now that I can post photos I'll see about posting one! Might have to wait a wee bit, I've come down with a dose of the lurgy ( flu ) and confined to bed and sofa at the moment. Cheers Guzzler

  11. Relays. How many here on the forum has done the upgrade with an extra relay for starting, 03 and newer bikes ? What kind of relays were used ? Did I miss this somewhere ? Cheers Tom.

  13. I shortened the two correct wires and tagged them red for positive, black negative with female bullet connectors that my multimeter clips into. Let me get a reference image that clarifies and specifies the +/- . . . edit: Okay, here you go. violet/black is positive, violet is negative. The third (yellow) wire gets cut and looped back into the heat shrink, unused.

  22. One of the occasional bugbears of the CARC bikes is the gasket between the spacer and the block blowing out around the delivery gallery at the front. Easily fixed by fitting a thicker aftermarket gasket it seems to affect the 8V's more than the pushrod engines but the result is a significant loss of pressure.

  23. Ah, yeah, sorry for my oil weight comment. I recall now that Moto Guzzi changed the spec on the later V11. Your Motul is likely just fine. Personally, I'm a RedLine fan; true Group 5, full ester base oil. Awesome stuff. Oil? we can go on-and-on, of course. footgoose makes a good point about idle speed. The tachs can read high (early Veglia as high as 300-500 rpm) which could lead us to try and idle at 700 rpm - not good. That, alone, might save you pulling the sump! If you still have the filter you took off, you can inspect it for the seal.

  24. That looks like a good DOT 4. The boiling points are just a little lower than the Motul 5.1 that I used. Dry boiling point 509F vs 522F. Wet boiling 329 vs 365. I don't think the clutch slave will ever get that hot, but I like to use the same fluid in everything. I think any DOT 4 or 5.1 is probably fine. The key is to keep it fresh - not let it sit in there forever.

  25. That's a personal choice imo. Some on the forum still run the alm flywheel, and some have replaced. I ran mine 13000 mi before I replaced it. It had no problems... just the one in my head. I got tired of the worry. I finally bit the bullet and did it myself. I am not a tech. I am a hobbyist mechanic. My greatest encouragement to do the job was this forum support and the realization that many tech's were probably more likely to f it up than I was. If I had had a tech I trusted I would have paid to have it done. My job turned out fine. I read all the threads, consulted a few members when I got stumped, and got to fix the nasty engine paint at the same time. I do know a shop now that I trust for something I can't handle, 100 mi. away in Cincinnati. Whatever you decide, find some Guzzi friends nearby.

  26. The flywheel is the part that breaks, yes. Camn, that figures - I suspect that Scura & Tenni clutches are same, & that RM had (at least some) different components. Some parts in the Scura clutch are stamped RAM, some not. Parts differ from the RAM aftermarket clutch. Story I've heard is that Guzzi sourced some parts of the Scura clutch elsewhere. I've never seen an RM clutch, but I wonder if it is a complete RAM unit. Docc, in my parts book (date of issue 2001, covering V11 Sport & Rosso Mandello), those numbers are transposed: RM flywheel is 01 06 70 40, V11 Sport (steel) one is 04 06 70 00.

  27. Although Rosso Mandello was single plate, I have never heard of one of these breaking flywheel in this way. RM was earlier build & I have wondered if it had different clutch parts to Scura & Tenni (possibly full RAM build, where Scura & Tenni may include parts of more dubious origin).
