  1. I just picked up a 1989 LeMans 1000. It's a well-loved rider with extensive upgrades... full Zard exhaust, Caruso timing gears, electronic ignition, seriously upgraded suspension, etc. It was previously owned by a local guy who is an excellent rider. I've chased this bike on my Scura and had a hard time keeping him in sight. Just took my first short ride and loved it. Though I must say... there is a big difference between 1989s LeMans 5 speed tranny with manual clutch and 2000's 6 speed with hydraulic.

  2. I had a problem like that with a 2003 LeMans. I hooked up an oil pressure gauge and found that the pressure was low. I finally solved it by dropping the oil pan, pump and spacer ring. Turns out piece of gasket was missing. New gasket - problem solved. But it had running like that for a while (since previous owner). On that bike, I ended up installing an aftermarket oil pressure gauge so I could monitor it instead of just having a warning light. If you are not sure of the history, I'd recommend replacing those gaskets - and if you can get your hands on a Roper plate, that would be the time to install it.

  3. That happened on my 2003 Lemans. I think that there are a lot of the V11's out there in the world like my bike; not many miles over the years, not many oil changes, and because the oil filter is a bit of a bear to get to and change, very few filter changes over their life time, it sets up the perfect storm for the gasket to come loose from the filter and get stuck in place, hidden somewhat out of sight. It was a bit of a head scratcher for me trying to figure out why the extra gasket was in place in my engine, it was only when I pulled the old filter out of the garbage to examine it closely, that I realized what was going on. Definitely something for all owners to keep in mind.

  5. “...the most butt ugly fairing.” Pfffft! A Hollywood helmet comparison? Really? Seen worse. (Eg.) Guareschi’ Carc platform Varano effort is laudable and as close to the MGS-01 as the brothers can adaptively get. Of all people they with their racing history should know! Colaninno’s description of the new 2021/22 engine as extraordinary in terms of performance & technology simply sets the bar higher for the new bike. What’s not valid or understandable in that concept? Conceptual discourse in relation to Colaninno’s announcement makes sense but nitpicking over details yet to be revealed can be a bit like can’t see the wood for the trees. What the devil is the point? Open to enlightenment tho... 🥸

  7. One advantage to adding a "standard" automotive relay as @gstallons did, is you are not restricted to the small size of the Micro ISO Relay as in our fuse block. So, you can easily source a 35-45 amp NO contact relay and find a place for it under the seat. Make sure the rating is for "contituous current" not just inrush.

  8. Finished the wiring the same way as GStallons did, after reading a LOT. Just havent put a relay to the wiring yet. Gene just used a relay hanging around. Just me, why not use the best relay available, right ? Woud it be enough adding another Omron ? Relay 1 and 2 are talking together, so the extra relay has to be better ? Obvious didn't read enough first time, feeding power to 30pin start relay,,, oh well, lights and oillight on. That fused powercable just went in the Greenie, perfect. Yes I like reliability from the gal IPA time. Cheers Tom.

  9. This is what Im thinking they'll do.. Basically a combination of MK I or MK IV bodywork on a V7 850 platform and then hotrod the motor for more power. Better fueling and some other bits. Maybe the Ohlins treatment. If you see the V7 Racer disappear you'll know what's up..

  13. Seems that the South'n SpineRaid slogan: > Get there. < > Bring Tools. < Is some kind of code for: " Send lawyers, guns, and money!" > Dad! <

  16. Here is one of the more complete threads on this 2002 and on V11 wiring issue. Click the the lower title and it takes you to @Chuck's original post, click the top title to go directly to a detailed post by @gstallons. 17. I was typing in this exact moment, Scura is coming home with me this week (hopefully on friday), so deal was made. It's the N. 595 and comes with some "adjustments", as said before it mounts the 1151 (?) cc kit (two valves),new cams/double plate clutch etc.. (original engine had oil spilling problems) Quat D exhaust is street legal (didn't know about that) Tail/rear fender was handmade by the actual owner. He did severals in 2002-2005 and are still mounted on some bikes in italy. I hope to post more details before the weekend, now I'll prepare a tool kit to be mounted somewhere (It's a guzzi, you know)

  18. There have been instances of the old filter gasket staying on the motor when the filter came out. Absolutely worth checking! 5W-40 seems a might thin for a motor that commonly runs on 20W-50, but I can't imagine that could be the source of low pressure at idle . . .

  19. Took the Rosso Corsa out this morning a nice 150 mi round trip ride from San Francisco North up the coast on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and back, she needed to get out and run a tank of gas through her and stretch her legs.. ....she ran beautiful, the weather was sunny and in the low 70's...almost no traffic all the way up!! I'm breaking in some new gloves though...my thumbs are numb...!!
