Yeah... my lovely, little, precious furry best buddy has chewed into oblivion a very expensive Canada Goose winter cap, about $50 worth of apple charging cords, a pack of log books, 2 pillows... did i mention I love her? Etc.....5 points

Handsome dog....looks pretty mellow. Brought my boxer with me when I was driving...did >500,000 miles with her. Always had to lift her into the cab...except once in winter in Wyoming...man it was cold! She knew the drill...up into the driver's floorboard..do a quick 180 for paw wipe. As a pup..she had a thing for the driver's seat air line. One time in particular...I-10 in New Orleans (the elevated part with no shoulder) during morning rush hour...I heard a concurrent yip of surprise and PSSSSSSSSSSSSSST of escaping air. By then I knew to have a few air line splice kits available.4 points

Interesting question! Not sure about the rest of the world, but US spec V11 were sold with an "evaporative fuel recovery system." Vacuum lines were connected from the intake vacuum taps to two charcoal canisters parked in the tool tray under the seat. (The tool roll was shoved into the Monkey Paw Trap in the tail section. ) The canisters were, then, vented through two 1/2" double-wall USA-made fuel lines to below the back of the gearbox. The entire apparatus involves the two charcoal canisters and twenty feet (Yes, 20 feet!) of half-inch US fuel line. The total mess weighs an impressive five pounds (a whopping one percent of the V11!) So, very common to see this mess removed and either the vacuum taps capped or just connected together. Does five pounds matter? Heh, well try to lose 5 pounds/11 kg and see how it works out. Too much Crême Brulée for me to skip. I'd rather ditch extra crap-add on the V11.3 points

I've painted a few of them without disassembly. I was careful with the aircraft paint stripper, and used plastic scrapers and wet paper towels to remove the gunk. Didn't need any abrasives.2 points

Dang, bud, you missed saying "Spread-Bore" . . now, that's just fun to say with "Double-Pumper!" The entire phrase always reminds me of a girl I dated in college . . .2 points

Has anyone here got experience with these tanks? I have never seen these before. https://www.motea.com/en/cafe-racer-tank-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-scura-10ltr-1960s-by-craftride-silver-159706-0 Thank you1 point

pretty sure that's a repro of a Benelli Mojave tank. Isn't an early 1100 Sport tank steel? Seems like that would fit the later spine... kinda, sorta.1 point

Read the add details, it's UNIVERSAL tank NOT a specific V11 tank. Ciao1 point

It is early '90s. Hmmm. So no need to set preload/backlash if I dont change anything, but also not too straight forward. Since it is not leaking, I am leaning towards leaving it intact an painting as is...1 point

I encountered this foul on an '02 V11 LeMans with a "bent tube" speedometer drive (that had been repurposed to drive the earlier white face Veglia). The V11 would not idle and the tube had already been >reshaped< . . . After I tuned this V11 and >reshaped< the tube, further, to clear the throttle bar, the cable broke later. --->My bad. I gave the guy my original speedo cable and a known good angle drive. I remember him saying, "Whatever, I probably won't keep this bike." Makes me cherish and appreciate those of you who remain dedicated to our purpose.1 point

I figured that would lead straight to the gutter, especially with squirters thrown in there 🤣1 point

Over the past 10 years I have personally done 4-5 tanks for myself and a 2-3 for friends , Aprilia,Ducati, and Moto guzzi V-ll "Plastic" tanks( they are actually a Nylon formula if you read in depth on the subject on posts over the past 10-20 years on Ducati websites like " ducati ms)) tanks that were Swollen..a couple REALLY swollen so swollen you could barely get them off the frame, On all the ones I did I took them off for at least three or four months.. ( I have talked about it here before). I always did it over the winter months to not lose as much riding time..unless I had a spare tank.., I wash them well, pull the filler, and petcock, and internal pump.. then let them sit in my Wife's planting sun room for at least 3 months..and I stuck a cheap hair dryer in the filler hole and run it on high every couple days..after the three or four months I treat them with a "FULL"can of Caswell "Blood" sealer, making sure to reach all inside areas,( following their directions) and then let them dry another week before installing..they all shrunk and went back on easy peasy..and to date none of them have re-swollen as far as I know. One Aprilia "Factory tank"had multiple bubbles..I carefully heated the bubble with a heat gun, then used a needle and punctured the bubble and pressed it down hard with a thumb and re heated..that one I did 4-5 years ago and still looks good. So..FWW..thats my experience1 point

@Chuck You were correct, it is indeed a '97 titled as a '98. Well, its a Centauro....That's about the only truthful statement made by the dealer. It's in poor condition. Got to give them credit for the expert photo's that failed to show the flaws. After fiddling with it and a new battery, she does run. Looks like it fell into disrepute the last number of years which is a shame really. It looks better in person. Flushed the tank as best i could and filled it with high octane and a can of Berrymans. Bottom line is i needed this engine for my project and it runs and drives. I've rode it about 50 miles? Strange bike, certainly if this was something i would keep wholesale change would take place. Convert it to a Daytona... I see now why it was controversial, not really a cruiser nor sporting bike. Hmmmm..... Custom cracked crossover Does have the upgraded chip This was especially annoying... Ohh boy......at this point I'm just happy it runs and goes down the road. Certainly paid waaay too much for it. Live and learn........1 point

It's not that. The reasons have been identified, and it's water. The nylon tank material absorbs water and swells and fuels that contain ethanol are more hydroscopic than straight fuel and have a higher moisture content and therefore swell the tank. Leaving them dry for a few months in a warm dry environment pretty much brings them back 100% as the water leaches out of the Nylon tank material. Ciao1 point

We always had rottweiler's, the reason for side car. Now the son is taking over. Rossi has been, let's say a handful, 13month and 53kg. 3 dead dogs in front of God waiting for entrance. God asking the german sheperd, what have been your goals? disiplin, training and loyal to the master. Ok, on my right side. God asking the puddel, your goals? Love, care from my master and piece in the world. Ok, on my left side. God looking at the Rottweiler asking the same question. Rottweiler saying,,, your standing in my place. Cheers tom. OK you guys, the biggest Holley was the "Dominator" While it was not a Dominator, I had a "List 4239" 700 CFM - half of a big block Chev tunnel ram setup - on my hot rodded 283. No choke, no power valve, but when that 350HP/327 cam came into play, it more than kept up with traffic. Stayed right beside a Boss 302 Mustang and an SS396 (probably 325HP) Chevelle. Was humbling with me in my ratty, rusted '61 Biscayne. And now, back to the show I mean thread! I started this, I might as well finish it.0 points
