  1. Techron and an Italian tune-up!..... both on my near horizon

  2. A full set of High Current OMRON relays, condition your battery (with clean and DeOxit treated terminals and gearbox ground), with a clean/treated Ignition Switch, and a "Decent Tune-up" will likely outpace any of the very best fuel additives. Pretty sure your tach reveals the real culprit . . .

  4. I was getting some stumbling recently at high rpms. Symptoms identical to mucked up jets in carbs. Then to top it off my tach started acting up. Flopping around stupidly. Got to the point I whipped out my Motogadget gauges (got them and just waiting for the OEM Veglia self lubricating cogs to give up). Welp, put in 20oz of Techron into the tank and stayed on the freeway keeping crazy needled rpm gauge close to 6k rpms between 5th and 6th gear periodically going from 80 to 120ish just opening up the throttlebodies from time to time. I felt a real difference around 60 miles on the tank. Sputtering disappeared. Somehow it fixed my tach. I dunno. Somehow with the tyrottlebodies being off it must of thrown off the tach. Either that or the self lubricating cogs somehow squeezed out some juice and worked some magic. Somehow a $15 bottle of Techron fixed my bike. But the Lemans did tell me to "suck it" by the valve cover gasket leaking a little pissing on my left leg. Oh well. $4 from MG Cycle. Bottom line... Techron some good sh!t. 😉🤫

  5. I happened across thos video referring to seafoam recently- seems to advise against the stuff: The guy in the video is a tool (idiot) who does not understand what he is talking about. He puts things into simple terms that seem to, on the surface, make sense. But reality is that things change. Use a cleaner like Seafoam or Chevron Techron or don't. Odds are it will not make a difference. But it isn't going to hurt, and you never know it might help.

  6. @hammershaug, is this the only time you have ridden your Queenie Greeeeenie? As much as I enjoyed following her down . . . . . . and back up . . . . . . and all the attention in between . . . . . . we are all looking forward to ride pictures from some exotic coastal location!

  7. I was always under the impression there were only 600 Scuras made but apparently not. Is the number 700? Weren't there only 6000 V11s made in 02? If that's the case 1 in 9 V11s were Scuras? I love my Scura. Always wanted one and finally have one. But I'm thinking maybe they're not as rare as we think?

  8. The Chinese have been so expert at making their products "look" like quality pieces, but only with the labels and markings. It will be interesting to see what you receive. Might not truly know unless one is pulled apart and the various components are examined like @Ryland3210 did comparing the G8HN OMRON with the Chinese GEI. That exercise was extremely telling.

  10. Pretty cool that onlinecomponents still offers these >best< High Current relays, and --> better ---> they are in your home State! You'll have them in a couple days!

  12. I think Leroy was the only Spiney that made it. I took my Duc. Report to follow. I saw friends I hadn't seen in a couple of years. It was the Wild Guzzi Rally in the Kansas Flint Hills. I took my travel trailer and the Supersport. A couple of the guys own Ducs, one a '90s vintage SS. Big sky country. Steep but gentle hills. We had catered, pot luck Thurs-Fri and a fish fry on Saturday. About 60 folks from as far away as Cali, KY and WI. And all the neighboring states. The wind blew like hell. Temps went from the high 40s to the mid 80s. Hot and very cold wind. Most of us had our shots and a few more shots & beer there, even a little garden goodness.I suppose the strangest thing was a group of "stars" that moved across the SW to NE horizon. One, then another until about 20 were filling the horizon and kept going, like a train, one after the other. In order, until the horizon was full. Like a train or an ant path. I guessed maybe 50 from horizon to horizon moving NE until gone over 5 minutes. Transfixed with drink and smoke, we couldn't take a picture or even tell anyone. (There is an explanation but I'll leave it for now and the reader to guess *.)Anyway, folks rode to Tom Mix Museum, Price Tower, Woolarc, Twisted Oz MC Museum, etc. Sorry posting photos too hard. * OK, Elon Musk Sky Link (from horizon to horizon for 5 minutes until 60 satellite had passed) (and we were ripped in the first place)

  13. There're generic fuel pumps for less than $100 at the auto parts store. I've lost the cross ref. You might query the site and see if you can find that info. I am intending this for bikes with external fuel pumps. $55 at MG Cycle http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2491

  14. Scura #600 - new to me today. Just sold my old Scura w/ Coppa paint job couple months ago and the garage just didn’t feel complete anymore. This one was apparently on and off the market a couple times and popped up again yesterday.......brought it home today. Will need a little TLC, but I’m excited nonetheless.

  16. One more thing I put rather clumsily was in the tale of the 28psi idle pressure and the statement "50psi and even that's is really too low" when referring to cold idle presssure. 10psi at idle is more than enough, what I was trying to get across was on cold oil idle the relief valve is partially lifting/leaking and the setpoint that should be on the valve is 70psi, however they all lift early and idle at 50psi. Revving the engine will raise the pressure, choking the valve. I reckon It rises to a bit over 60psi at 3k rpm but I don't know if the pressure rises any higher than that. From what I've seen from the short Griso spring test I suspect not. As I also have a Sporti I swapped the internals of the sport pipework into the HiCam to test, when I could not understand why I was getting low pressure at idle. The results I saw when cranking were identical, I actually started to question my sanity and repeated the whole thing twice as I could not believe the results were identical. Both valves showed the same system pressure of 50psi. The Sport engine's relief valve pressure is around 1 bar lower, Guzzi quote 56-60psi for the 2 valve engines and 70psi (no tolerance) for the 4 valve. Then I checked the parts book, well, well, well identical components including the spring in both valves....................Go figure. I believe the intention was to shim the spring to obtain a higher relief pressure for the HiCams. They either weren't shimmed in the factory or the spring rate so soft as to make no difference to the observed oil pressure. The lower pressure seen when the valve lifts on the HiCam is due to the large oil flow to the heads, dropping the pressure dramatically. When that same relief valve is used in the 2 V/V bike it will idle circa 65psi cold oil. I can only surmise that due to the rushed design and pressure (bad pun) to get a bike out the door with more horses, very little thought went into the design which, as a result meant the system just didn't work the way Guzzi envisaged.

  17. I am just getting acquainted with my V11 (not a Scura) but it has the M4 pipes and they sound fantastic. The sound is reminiscent of my long gone Duc 900 with Conti pipes. I can tell I am going to love this bike.

  19. This I know, I use a high dose of sea foam once a year 1/2 bottle to 2 1/2 gal gas. First time I did it took the bike out for a ride, started running really bad after about 10 miles. Back fire, sluggish, not responsive. Got home pulled the plugs and they were carbon caked, like a stroke. Long story short, took a few cleanings of the plugs, and the bike after new plugs did run better. My thought is as the carbon is being released it is catching on a hot point, the plugs. And a plus is the smell is slightly similar to race fuel, and who doesn't like that smell in the morning!!!
