  1. Installed the Bikemaster heated grips (same as picture of kit provided by Swooshdave) on my 2004 V11 Ballabio that has the Lemans Clip on handlle bar installation. The grips fit very tight so did not need to use the glue supplied with the kit. Took power off the aux. plug behind the fly screen that I installed to power the GPS. The power comes from the Fuse 6. Power on with key on. Works great so far. I like the added volt meter.

  2. I’m doing some research on reverse engineering and 2d/3d cad files to have some pieces made in magnesium alloy. Lo and behold what do I stumble upon? A pair of factory magnesium valve covers from a Raceco bike. One needs some TLC.... I’m pretty sure I can get that addressed. That will save on the R&D as now I’ll just go with the frame plates. I’m going to have them tweaked a bit. Like replicating the the plates from the Daytona as seen here. Specifically having the hole and recessed areas between the bolts. Always thought that was a very purposeful look. The guy who has the covers also had a complete set of heads and Raceco cams. Not that I needed them, but it’s good to have a spare set as they are getting quite scarce.

  4. It must have been around 2002? I was in Grand Rapids Michigan and noticed a small Moto Guzzi Dealership (Grand Rapids Guzzi) long out of business now. I decided to stop in and look around. There on the tiny showroom was a red frame greenie. I was smitten on the spot. I took it for a ride, came back and they wanted to sell it. Offered it to me for $7,500 and it was brand new. Went to my bank, got a check and picked up my GF and brought her home. Then all of the trouble with Guzzi started and I was worried about whether they were going to remain in business. I had it about a year? Sold it to a guy for I think $7,000? Regretted that... she was beautiful. Glad I have my Scura now. They are still beautiful all these years later. Things probably would be more traditional had Ivano not passed away so untimely. Piaggio has a reputation it seems of saving historic Italian motorcycle companies, then ignoring their rich history. They bought Gilera and slapped that name on scooters.

  5. I am not certain I understand what you meant. As far as I know, he is returning me the gauge I shipped. Although it could be possible that he has a stock of already fixed instruments, so he only swaps the internals and ship back the container? Is this what you implied in the message above? I will be able to verify, since I have pictures of the serial number of the gauge I sent.

  6. Joel shipped the gauge back to me today Wednesday May 19th, ETA is Saturday May 22nd. Turn around was seven days total. Will report back once the Speedo/Odo gauge is back in place and running.

  7. Cheesehead is Rick. He and Gordon are MG Cycles. Good guys. No I didn't watch the video. I'm also an engineering modelmaker and I've made 100s if not thousands of prototype parts. I'm aware of what temporary tooling can and can't do. .048" stainless in that part? I'd be surprised if you got one "good" one.

  8. Uh, yeah. Joe is talented all right.. Dorcia and I hung out with him in the pits of the Cannonball run one day. He explained all he did to make the bike reliable. When riders were coming in from the day's run, pit crews were scurrying around fixing this and that. When Joe's rider came in, he said, "Everything ok?" "Yeah." "Have another beer, Chuck..

  9. This is way beyond a Scura build. This is a custom bike. Can't wait to see how it all comes together. Does the MGS triple-tree fit the V11 Spine frame without modification?

  10. more info: not sure the maker of this rack, but the GIVI "universal" mounting brackets don't align with it. It's not a problem as I have no issue drilling a bit of steel and making my own brackets. But just adding to the knowledge base. Its gonna be great, the top case is gonna fit fine and I'll be able to do some light touring on a 2000 v11 sport. gonna be great for my back! but I will be having a hell of a good time. -j

  11. On top of that, Legnano Green is very hard to get an accurate image of. An elusive presence.

  12. Finished the Mistral headers and crossovers install (already had the carbon slip-ons). Was a bit more involved than expected, but not too bad. Had to destroy the stock headers to remove the flanges [emoji3525], so one less OEM part available for those in need. But I have the stock cross-overs if anyone is interested. I was surprised with how much it changed the sound. Sounded good before, but magnificent now! [emoji854] Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk

  13. I've had at least a couple break. Perfect application to repurpose the safety retention washer that failed on my gearbox input hub . . .

  15. Here's a few pics from my almost 2,000 mile trip. I tried to avoid freeways as much as possible. I went through Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave National Preserve, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Bryce Canyon National Park, Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, and Great Basin National Park. Sea level to 10,000 feet. Over 100 degrees through Las Vegas on the way home - but started the day with snow in the 8,000 foot campsite at Great Basin. I didn't do nearly as much dirt as I wanted because my LH mirror broke on the second day - just from vibrations I guess. The RH mirror gave up the ghost on the way home. Otherwise, the Stelvio did great - super comfortable. And she's like a camel crossing the desert with that 8.5 gallon gas tank.
