  2. Okay!!! NOW I have everything. I just ordered a couple liner feet of Teknofibra 4mm flexible thermal barrier. I am going to line the underside of the fuel tank with it and eventually the carbon fiber full fairing. Ive never used this stuff so it’ll be interesting to see how well it conforms to the tank. Doing everything I can think of to prevent any problems with it. Sealed, wrapped in Carbon and now insulated along with metal fittings for the pump and quick disconnects.

  4. A semantic question of language differences arises. In places where distance is measured in miles, we speak of "mileage" as the cumulative distance covered by a machine, or in travel. I places where distance is measured in kilometers, how is that referred to? "kilometerage?"

  7. Just a heads up on those earlier 'Pork Chops'/side plates. They changed the design for more than just cosmetic reasons. The early ones are much, much more prone to cracking, even a bad drop at a standstill can do damage that may not be immediately visible but severely weakens them. It's worth doing a penetrant die test before fitting to check their integrity. Remember, it's those plates that hold the swingarm on. If one breaks the other one will too and the back of the bike falls off!

  9. I received the fixed ITIhUR Speed/Odometer today @2:00 pm. The gauge has a partial trip reset knob too. I can see the mileage read 8866.4, from the previous reading at 8865; I will report back once more when the gauge is back in place. The three pics below shows the Speedo/Odometer before, and after Joel Levine's divine intervention. If I take into consideration the shipping to and from into the price, the total tag is $400. You may construe this as "expensive", but if you consider the service, it is not.

  14. Exactly correct.... I love braking deeeeeep, crank her over and grab a handful. The millennials have yet to figure it out. I was up in Farmington Hills (outside of Detroit) a few weeks back blowing the cobwebs out and ran into a pack of angry bee’s... I chased them around for awhile and we all stopped at a gas station. Hopefully I converted at least one young gun to look into getting a Guzzi. Dialed in, my baby and I are only deficient in top end grunt. There’s really only so much you can safely thrashing around on the back roads. So the lack of that last bit doesn’t necessarily matter to a point. Compared to my F41000 or even my 999R. The MV was not fun and I couldn’t get that bike dialed in for shit. That was like the point and shoot rice style of riding. At least with the Ducati I could apply the power in a linear way and knew what she was up to. I suppose it’s a twin vs inline 4 power delivery and what you feel most comfortable with. I’m thinking once this 4v gets finished, the extra low/midrange will be most welcome along with saving some critical mass where it counts. As long as the basics don’t radically change because her and I make a great team.

  16. Don't think it matters. You're simply powering down the whole system and it's this that clears the trims. One assumes that even on key off there is some slight parasitic drain for the security LED and one presumes the base functions of the ECU. Only thing I know is that if you remove the power the trims are cleared but I'm just a spud-thick motorbike mechanic.

  18. I’m doing some research on reverse engineering and 2d/3d cad files to have some pieces made in magnesium alloy. Lo and behold what do I stumble upon? A pair of factory magnesium valve covers from a Raceco bike. One needs some TLC.... I’m pretty sure I can get that addressed. That will save on the R&D as now I’ll just go with the frame plates. I’m going to have them tweaked a bit. Like replicating the the plates from the Daytona as seen here. Specifically having the hole and recessed areas between the bolts. Always thought that was a very purposeful look. The guy who has the covers also had a complete set of heads and Raceco cams. Not that I needed them, but it’s good to have a spare set as they are getting quite scarce.

  19. Yeah, well. "The best laid plans of mice and men" . . . The Sport has rolled only backward and forward enough to get my >other< bike on the lift. Then she went all Italian on me, to get my attention, and started spilling fluids onto the floor. All the while knowing I can't get her back on the lift until the sweet, quiet little Japanese lady is seen to. My chances of actually making my 200.000 km goal by the South'n SpineRaid (and Mandello's Moto Guzzi Centenary Celebration) is diminishing. Anyone wiling to post their odometer at this point in their V11's progress?
