  1. 277 mile/ 447 km shakedown ride for the South'n SpineRide nine weeks out. Trying to sort the high-end Garmin sat-nav that remains an aggravation. Slow rolling through a town at around 3,000 rpm, I kept feeling a blast of air against my left knee every time she stumbled. Sometimes we replace the intake boots just because they look cracked, but aren't really split. This split was obvious and didn't look anything like the common, worrisome cracks - 13 years/ 62,000 mile/100.000 km . . .

  2. A few wraps of black electrical tape will tame a boot leak until it can be replaced. This is also helpful as a diagnosis - if it runs better after getting taped up, then you have identified the leak - even if you can't see the crack.

  3. I picked up a factory black guard to replace the one I spray painted black and didn’t really look very nice. Otherwise she’s still hiding away…

  4. Today, I rode the Scura around while testing my new Cardo Pack Talk Bold communicator. Just solo today, but it is a mesh communicator for multiple riders, and I got a pack of two communicators. I made and received some phone calls, played music (Black Sabbath on shuffle), and asked Siri for directions. I had been thinking about a motorcycle-specific GPS, but decided to just try the voice-navigation from my phone for a while. Normally, I just memorize where I am going, so having on-board navigation is quite a luxury. The people I called had no idea I was on my motorcycle till I told them - they didn't hear wind noise, which is nice, but they were also denied the thunder of the Ti Racing exhaust, which I enjoyed.

  5. That’s a hell of a nice bike, Bob, and a great deal. I think it will sell fast the way the used bike market is right now. I hate to hear this, but bad stuff happens out there and so glad that you’re still here.

  8. I bet that latch mechanism and seal are used on many bikes - and documenting that seal would be a worthy addition to our compatible parts thread. And that's your yellow Sport, right? Not a V11? But looks to be the same fuel door.

  10. Just think of the diaphragm as a *really* simple computer that interfaces the carb and the unpracticed throttle hand.

  11. Did you go parts bin on this V11? That actually looks REALLY cool! 👍👍👍👍 This a short frame?

  13. Since buying the bike, I have been making small changes that better suit me. Motobits pegs are in a box, as are the H&B bags and rack. Brought the bars down, added some Ken Sean bar-end mirrors and adjustable shorty levers. LED headlamp and signals - the taillight was LED when I bought it. But the Staintunes were at the stock height and width - good for passengers and bags, but a little vulnerable in slow maneuvering and backing. So, examining the lead-in pipe, it appeared to me that the cans could be slid a little further onto the X-over and then the entire unit rotated up and in at the rear. Did a test repositioning and it looked plausible. Kinda mid-mount. This pic shows the difference. For hangers, what I settled on were some M5 stainless marine closed body turnbuckles. Rated at 900 Kg/1980 Lbs, I figured they were up to the task of suspending a 4 Lb can. A little cutting, grinding, heating and bending, enlarging the mount holes from M5 in stages to M7.5 and hand filing with a round file so an M8 bolt would just slip through, leaving a bit more meat around the bolts. Then dug out the white buffing compound and shined them up. Snugged them up and the install leaves the bike looking a little cleaner, and lighter (almost ANYTHING will do that!). A less homely rear hugger is next. Overall, I'm pleased and I can even hear the music slightly better now.

  14. I had forgotten about the black over silver V11 Sport "TT." Not sure the history of how that was produced. Even then, this one has quite a lot of thoughtful additions. Very nice. Remember, @Bob Maynard, we have a place to post your FJ exploits and stay in touch! Everything non-Guzzi and Redneck trashtalk

  17. Just an FYI, it only took 14 minutes after posting to CL till a scammer replied that “he wanted to buy my item”. Cash, just text back to him.

  18. No I didn’t, but I heard that the NA importers may have. I read that they sold it as a TT model, just like this but with a silver rear fairing instead of my Tenni one. PPO put that Tenni on, along with the windscreen and cans. (Interesting story about the PO, btw) Thanks to all for the well wishes! I need to see a doc and find out if pt can help. It worked well before I sat on my ass thru covid. Those exercises don’t seem to be appropriate for my current condition.

  19. Sorry, Bob. You just have to play the cards you're dealt. I'd be on it like a duck on a june bug if I were in the market..

  22. Not to speak for Bob, but: yes, early RedFrame without the lower bracing and lengthened spine section. Notice how tidy the front of the tank fits at the headstock . . .

  27. Just changed the cover out for a carbon fiber one from Italy. The little Metal loop is to keep the wire from swinging around. Previous owner had the wire zip-tied to the bolt. The loop will probably work fine.

  28. I assume that is because oil pumps don't pump pressure, they pump flow. It is only resistance to that flow that creates pressure. With no resistance to flow there is no pressure. At higher rpms the resistance to oil flow likely goes down, while flow is going up at the same rate, due to increased motion of the various internal parts like the crank and rods.

  30. With much sadness, I’m posting my Sport for sale. Unable to ride it at length due to a previous mc accident (left turning Ford) resulting in multiple pelvic fractures. Plates and screws put Humpty Dumpty back together, but pain gets worse with time, forcing sale. $3000 to forum members. https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/mcy/d/sharon-center-moto-guzzi-v11-sport/7346058167.html
