  2. That is your wake up call. I have a medical condition called "deaf as a post." Hearing loss *is* cumulative. The early onset of tinnitus is a red flag saying what you are doing is too loud for too long. It caused *some* hearing damage. If you keep it up, the tinnitus never goes away. Trust me on this.. your hearing will continue to degrade over time, too. Wear hearing protection on a bike. Always. It's not the mechanical or exhaust, it's the roar of wind that does it. Years of industrial noise, motorcycles, airplanes, loud music, shooting, have done it for me. The good news is my latest pair of hearing aides are awesome. They bluetooth to my phone, TV, etc. I can actually hear again, and don't have to nod and smile a lot.. As good a "normal" hearing? No. Make that Hell no. Ok, off the soapbox.

  3. I love the idea that a beautiful design like that sprung from an individual engineering mind. A pair of hands at a drawing board guided by an individual engineeringly brilliant mind created that out of nothing. To me it's creative art and a thing of beauty. Mind you I'm on my second glass of red wine and in a few hours and I might just see it as a heap of old useless shit. Ciao

  4. @dbarb3 I am 6' too. The Le Mans fairing is surprisingly effective; without lowering my torso to hid behind the cupola. The wind draft still hits the top of your helmet though, it did affect me at the beginning, but I am fine now. I must have built some neck strength. My biggest gripe is the wind noise in my helmet. I do not wear ear plugs, or in ear audio that would reduce my awareness on the road. My Shark Helmet is supposed to be reasonably "silent", even if not the best in this department. After my latest outing, about six hours of effective riding, I experienced Tinnitus. I have to admit that it may not be entirely related to Motorcycle riding. I also have played electric guitar for a long part of my life....

  5. Thank you, PJPR01. I really prefer plug and play modifications and updates to my machines.

  6. Totally forgotten to ask: Does the installation of the Roper Plate interfere with the dipstick/thermometer? Any clearance issues for those that have both installed on the same V11? Just got my Roper Plate today. Shout-out to Pressure Angle for the fair price and fast shipping. Thank you!

  7. Until an electrical expert comes along, here are some things to do. Even if it doesn't fix your problem, it is still good basic maintenance. 1. Undo and clean the negative cable connection to the gearbox. Bright metal to metal contacts. Assemble with grease/ Vaseline/ DowCorning4 oozing out as you tighten the bolt. 2. Do the same to the battery terminals, and starter terminal 3. Make sure the regulator is grounded properly. You may need to add a grounding wire.

  8. The V11 is from 2002. The starter is realy slow. After a few attemps it starts with a dot of trottle. It just seem he will not start at all.

  10. Hell, I had a 441 BSA dug into the axle in Michigan. I got off, left it running in gear. Every time it fired, the rear wheel made about a half turn.. The mantra, "When in doubt, gas it" counts double in the sand hills of Michigan..

  11. I have to thank the SpineRaider with the Rosso Mandello. What an awesome cat. He so promoted the TechSession, and took it all in. So glad to meet up with him again and admire his Rosso Mandello! After traversing the Cherohala, he said something so very encouraging to me. I've long thought my AeroStich aboard the V11 looks akin to a "high and heavy canvas covered load" (Johnny Cash). Adam said I look like a "Diesel Bulldog." Thanks for the encouragement, bud!

  12. Because Ducati wants a piece of the ADV market, which keeps getting defined by off-road capability, even though most ADV bikes rarely see dirt. Journalists and crazy people insist on stuffing adventure motorcycles in places that are better suited to actual dirt bikes. My friends on 450s made me pose before they helped me out of this sand trap. 100HP on a heavy bike can dig into the axle in a hurry.

  13. Remember the first time I ducked down behind the fairing while going fast. It was all so quiet and strangely dreamlike, not real. Then I imagined the broken leg would feel very real if I did not concentrate.

  15. Recently my town has started a Bike Night, last Tuesday of the month. They've been doing a lot of renovation and turning the downtown into entrainment destination. I'll provide a link to it but to get the shorthand, my bike is the icon bike for the event. (I couldn't get the photo image to post) https://www.edmondbikenight.com/

  16. You are recommending based on pre-covid19, aren't you? It is a different world nowadays. I see a lot of Sysco trucks around and about.
