  1. I'm down for celebrating solstices, equinoxes, and various harvests. Today I harvested a bunch of Mexican Pink Guavas from a tree in my backyard. Thankful for fresh-made guava juice. Gonna see family later today, thankful for them too.

  2. Yah, along with the history of the holiday relative to the US "Civil War" can take the shine off what, otherwise, represents a joyous occasion. Yet, the concept of harvest celebration is sound. And rather universal. With thanks comes hope. Best wishes to all of you.

  3. It's good to occasionally stop and be thankful for what we have, but this holiday is a based on a fictionalized version of a non-event. 400 years ago (it's the actual 400 year anniversary this year) the remaining members of a 10,000 year old culture that had already been depleted by 90% due to European illnesses had dinner with people who would be renamed Pilgrims 200 years later. By that time, the Pilgrims and their descendants had murdered or isolated the rest of them. The winners write the history books... I suppose many of us in the USA and Canada can be thankful for our current lifestyles and the privileges that come from descending from the winners, but I am not proud of that heritage. (FWIW - I can trace my family history back to the 1600s when my ancestors left England for what is now New England). So yeah... let's all stop and be thankful today. But let's not perpetuate the bullshit thanksgiving origin story and pretend that European settlers were good in any way for the native people of North America.

  5. IMHO you must provide a decent ground cable to the regulator case, all the current that passes through the red wire to the battery has to find its way back from chassis to the regulator case, the tiny black wire all the way back to the battery doesn't cut it. The Ducati Energia regulator doesn't directly control the battery Voltage, it regulates the Voltage between its black wire and case ground to 13.8 Volts so if the case is not connected to battery negative properly the Voltage you drop between negative and the case is lost. Probably when the bike was new it made fairly good contact to chassis but as it ages it has to rely more and more on the thin black wire. The path through the engine to the main ground connection to the battery is many times better than the black wire. A short heavy wire from the regulator case to a timing cover bolt is a vast improvement. I have even suggested using an aluminium strap in place of a wire with suitable grease to stop corrosion of course.

  6. Well, for those of us living in the USA, and those who don't, watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles to get a feel for it.

  7. ...to add to Kiwi_Roy's post, the rep from ElectroSport who set up my regulator with the correct connectors tied off the small black ground wire so it is not used. He said to make sure the connection at the case to the bracket was clean and tight as that makes a better ground. That said, I'm going to attach a heavy gauge wire from under the regulator fastener washer to a timing case bolt as Kiwi_Roy recommends. A guaranteed ground for 10 minutes worth of work - why not? 9. The one advantage of these Ohlins, is they automatically set according to the ride mode selected, and factors the presence, or not of the Chief Domestic Operation & CFO as the pillion. This is kind of neat. From what existing users say, the Ohlins system works flawlessly. Also, having a quick shifter is nice, and from what I understood, hoping I am wrong, this is reserved to the "Green" one.

  10. Just for a little change of scenery, here's Royal Enfield..... I kind of liked the Red one, I think it is called the Continental GT? at 4:40 in the video.

  11. Summer is here! Time to check out the TI cans and ECU. For some reason it runs better with more response in the low to mid rev range on the TI map than the Meinolf map. Suitably impressed with exhaust note now. The bike has had the "full tune up" process from this forum and runs very well.

  13. I have received the NOS Givi bikini fairing and hardware from Harpers, but there were no mounting instructions. (pics of what I received) I have tried all of the orientations that I can imagine and I cannot get a fit. Has anyone got one of these mounted and can post up some pictures of the mounting?

  15. Thanks are appropriately given to someone, for something received. Having survived three simultaneous cancers, and a stem cell transplant, I give thanks to the God who inspired that first Thanksgiving, even if I am not of the same Christian denomination as those first celebrants. Gifts are gifts. Thanks are thanks.

  19. Last night, I watched multiple reviews of the Continental GT, and it is not as good as it looks, but then again, for 7K USD.... The long term review from UK stated the brakes are acceptable; the gear box is full of false neutrals initially, tends to get better with breaking in; suspensions also are only acceptable; major complaint about the inaccuracy of the fuel gauge. This was a 2021 model. I think our V11 are still in the clear, from a long way off....

  22. I (might) have one more new Guzzi in my moto-harem before I hang up my spurs. I deem this worthy. The Chief, Domestic Operations & CFO has given tentative approval! But, we shall see how much the new beast weighs wet and some info on its COG. I would, of course, get the red, so that is that. Besides, my riding skills or lack would never exploit the Ohlins and I suspect the stock setup is fine enough. Bill

  23. I am not an expert on Buell F.I., but this is what I've experienced and been told. As stated, the F.I. system uses not only the O2 sensor but also air temp, air pressure, engine temp, etc. to decide how much fuel to add. The main time the O2 sensor comes into play is under lower load, lower RPM use.The system goes mainly off a fixed map under high load. But that fixed map can be skewed up or down depending on what the O2 sensor is telling the system when it's being used. Thus, if you swap out the stock pipe for a free flowing aftermarket one, the system will adjust the fuelling accordingly. It's not exact and it's not perfect but it does work well. Far better then my Wifes V11 works( in fairness her bike works better then most Jap injection systems). It does depend on the base map being right to begin with and that is where my Griso comes up short. My old Buells F.I. was much better.
