  2. Missed this somehow.. I've flown a Super Ace, but it was a completely different animal with a 65 horse Continental on the nose. Being able to see forward is over rated..

  4. As to the revival of English brands, it seems that Brexit is the result of a rekindled nationalism. The BSA is a go, simply because Mahindra is a huge company and accomplishes what it sets out to do. The India/UK design and manufacture indicates that one can take the best of the past and build on it - whether technology or culture.

  5. Of course, if I had a boatload of disposable money and I wanted a kooky neo-retro I'd go a couple hours north of me to Goshen Indiana and get a semi-custom Janus! I sat on one at a show pre-covid and it took quite a while for me to shake off the idiotic grin on my face! (And that's enough hyphens for one post.)😁

  6. Yes it's called a hammer and drift. It doesn't need to be too tight. Ciao

  7. Terry Barnes is listed as a contact for the SOUTHWEST OHIO MOTO GUZZI BREAKFAST so, I assume he is still with us but I know for sure Terry Whittaker is not. That's all I know and I've never met Terry Barnes.

  8. Hi, While we're on the rear drive....is there anyone manufacturing or have available a spanner socket for the ringnut (#18) that retains the pinion assembly? I'm at a point where I've got a ringnut on order for the purpose of making my own spanner. I'd prefer to buy one already made since my machine shop consists of a cut-off wheel & Dremel tool. 9. Yunupingu was born as Tom Djambayang Bakamana Yunupingu on 17 September 1956 in Yirrkala in Arnhem Land, an Aboriginal reserve in the northeastern part of the Northern Territory. He was a member of the Gumatj people, one of sixteen groups of the Yolngu people. His skin name was Gudjuk, but his name was changed to Mandawuy in 1990 when a family member with the same name died, in line with Yolngu custom. He described his names as "Mandawuy" means 'from clay'; Djarrtjuntjun means 'roots of the paperbark tree that still burn and throw off heat after a fire has died down'; Yunupingu depicts a solid rock that, having travelled from freshwater, stands in salty waters, its base deep in the earth. I am Gudjuk the fire kite".

  10. Well you certainly have the 278mm correct docc for the std shock. My bike must also be a "crossover bike" then as well. Ciao

  12. Radiant heat is little effected by gas flow and air draught. Quick question, I get why black on the pipes looks good but why adopt a coating that slows heat transfer and then paint it black? It's the most emissive tone and if the goal was to prevent transfer then surely white was a better option? By the way, lovely bike. Chris.

  13. You're probably right @Chris Wilson So the theory is to increase cylinder scavenging? AFAIK ceramic coating is more effective than lagging and the exhaust system already has that along it's full length, both internally and externally. Personally I don't think it makes much (any?) difference to exhaust gas temp or scavenging. It reason I did it was in an effort to keep faing temps and everything enclosed therein, lower......................but for good or bad it has already been done I don't think the exhaust headers' radiant heat impact on the oil cooler(s) when on the move, heat will be drawn rearwards. Crawling or stopped in traffic is a different issue

  14. Big thumpers! A 650 single would be cool. I think Kawasaki or Suzuki tried that about 10-15 years ago, but they weren't well received. They state 45hp for the BSA 650. That's enough to make an enjoyable, competent standard bike. I expect plenty of nostalgic buyers who will put around town and do some lazy-Sunday back-roads tiddling. It won't encourage any hooliganism (for comparison, my 700cc Husqvarna single makes 75hp and weighs about 70kg (150 pounds) less. and hey... if Phil can be we the "ringing bell" for Royal Enfield, I'll do it for Husky. (and for the record, I'd get a RE before a BSA).

  15. Yeah a clean Rosso Mandello is about 9k USD. See below. Plus added the link for the MK5. Its what they are asking. Someone has to pay that amount! https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/moto-guzzi/listing/3365092869?bof=LEbcagWf https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/classic-vintage/moto-guzzi/listing/3360808775?bof=LEbcagWf

  16. Any of the Le mans 850 through to 1000. Daytona. Any old V7 or 850T's. Ambassadors. The V11 is just starting to rise. With this Covid pandemic going on and no one travelling there is a lot of spare cash around for toys. I think this is contributing to price as we only have relatively small pool of vehicles in NZ. Someone was asking 25k (17.5K USD) for a mk5 lemans recently. It was low mileage. A nice MKII 850 would be around 16k USD. Unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch that far
