I found a Nero Corsa at the foot of Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevadas... it followed me home, so I guess I get to keep it.4 points

As Tom suggests, a bike without a temp indicator is normal. You know what your oil temp is and it bothers you. Maybe you actually don't have a problem. Engine oil needs to get up to 100°C before water condensation evaporates. Cheap oils can tolerate 150°C without degradation, and Group 3 & 4 PAO/Ester oils handle over 200°C. Some engine oil additives don't work until the engine is up to temp. Hot is good3 points

Like Docc said, had a friend took some pictures, went home and did a little magic on the computer, send it to a good printer, woola. Spot on. Ca 80$. Cheers Tom. Sent fra min SM-A525F via Tapatalk3 points

That tactic is effective with SWLMA (She Who Loves Me Anyway). Worked recently on the LM5.2 points

IIRC, when @danl checked my swingarm offset, it was 0.028" (less than a millimeter). I put that down to error in my laser alignment method and decided to simply center it. The Workshop Manual only says to put it back where you found it. Our discussion at the South'n Spine Raid led to the consensus that an enthusiastic V11 owner is more likely to take the care and time to set this precisely compared to Luigi-on-the-Line.2 points

So, on our V11 we can change the lateral position of the swingarm in the side supports. After replacing my swingarm from crash damage in 2003, I went to great pains using a laser to align the contact patches. Later, we had some fun at a South'n Spine raid measuring the swingarm offset amongst several V11 present (they were all over the place). My personal experience has evolved to make both of the support pins symmetrical. Yet, I am just making the point that the swingarm can be shifted a bit side-to-side in the event one felt the need to alter the alignment.2 points

Ooh, nice find, Mr. Scudder. I understand that if you put them in the garage for a while, you will allowed to keep them after SWMBO gets used to seeing it.. It didn't work with the lady in the bikini I found at Bikeweek, though..2 points

Very nice find There is one here in Columbus, owed & abused by an older guy here; left out in all weathers, paint fading, dropped a few times. In drunken moments I find myself justifying 'taking it home' as a mercy mission. But it will probably take more time & $ than I have to fix it up. What are the details on your new find ?2 points

Iron Supply Motorcycles Katy, Texas. I wanted to create a topic to showcase the "lounge" type dealerships and motorcycling gear which are the norm in the USA. When I was living in Europe, the dealerships were mostly impersonal, mostly set up strictly for business, and not exactly rolling the welcome wagon. Hopefully, things have changed. I remember the signs, "don't touch the motorbikes", "don't seat"... the surly sales assistants, huddling in a corner and shooting the breeze while ignoring you. I am not saying all Motorcycle dealerships here are friendly, but while doing my Motorcycle Tour of Texas, I had the opportunity to see many in various Texan cities. And I am certain the dealers in Europe are no longer what they used to be when I was there. In any case, I decided take some photos of what is available around here. Iron Supply deals Triumph and Royal Enfield bikes as their main bill. They are extremely friendly, and helpful about just anything. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The Lounge! On Saturdays.....1 point

Now a surfboard carrier on the Nero Corsa would be an interesting accessory!1 point

the great recording also shows a nice representation of differences in tonal qualities of the Strat and LP.1 point

I'm with you on this Docc. Simply adjust those support pins to center the swingarm between the frame plates, which also ensures maximum clearance for it to pivot (and never bind or rub). That is mechanically satisfying, and I don't think I'm a good enough rider to tell if my wheels are a few mm off alignment.1 point
-
Because on an uncrashed shaft drive bike there's nothing you can do about it except live with it unless you want to strip it down and take it to a frame aligner. Which then beggars the question, how much misalignment can you live with or find acceptable? If you know a shaft drive bike hasn't been down the road in a serious way some things are better not to know. Ciao1 point

Overall in good shape, but not totally original. I'm gonna go through it a bit to freshen up some things and find out the details. The pork chops and rocker covers were repainted, they are perfect match to the script on the tail, which is a bit on the pink side... But I have a set of Candy-Apple-Red chops and covers to swap in. I'll probably have some play time over the upcoming holiday.1 point

The consensus around the rumor-mill seems to be about 200 produced globally, and about 50 of those in the US. Not much activity in the Nero Corsa registry on this site. I have never seen another one in person.1 point

Is Mahindra really interested in the US market? is the BSA Gold Star a product that would sell here, outside of curiosity? I don't pretend to have much experience of the motorcycle community here in Texas. I ride my Guzzi almost every day, and I don't really see anything significant but Harley riders. MPH always has a lot of vintage bikes in their workshop, but I never see them on the road. Harley Davidson still rules, at least here in Texas. It seems to me the Gold Star would be too confidential.1 point

Finally, Norton! Unfortunately, disappointing news. I don't know what is your take of it, but I get a feeling they are never going to produce the Commando. Maybe I am wrong, but when I listen to "we have not taken a decision", and also, the give away is the bike is air/oil cooled, which I love, but would probably not bode well with the EURO emission regulation. Would Norton really start to manufacture a bike which they won't be allowed to sell in Europe? I doubt it. At least, they are going to make the 28 which have already sold in UK under the previous administration. I was talking to the Triumph/Royal Enfield Houston dealer about Norton, and they are interested to represent them, if they commit.1 point

By the looks of that engine, and I know little about it except from looks, it appears that the inner thighs of the Vee are shrouded by the belt covers so does hot air pool behind them leading to such joys as fuel boiling, burning inside trousers, and general stagnant misery? If so then perhaps a fan may be best placed under the tank to scavenge out that hot air. Perhaps pulling air from behind the block instead of pushing it from the front would work out easier for you if frontal space is at a premium. Chris.1 point

And yet, I reckon that you will see a MK1 Lemans or a pan head Harley thunder down the highway long after the demise of more 'reliable' bikes. Motorcycling has devolved into a 'user' only experience and deviated away from ownership. And it's here that I will quote the dealer who sold me my Bellagio "it's a good day when a Guzzi breaks down as it gives you a chance to make it better than before." "Just like an Italian marriage, when it works it's unbridled passion, but when it fails it gives you the chance to make it better. And I wouldn't have it any other way." Chris.1 point
