  1. May as well continue adding to this thread. May it not be my last contribution :-). Mangakino area, middle of the North Island. Stopped at the Waipapa Dam beside the Waikato river. Was a 500km day 10th December this year.

  2. Happy holidays to all. Santa didn't give me improved electrical connections on my Guzzi, so I'm gonna have to do it myself. I guess he knew better than to open that can of worms....πŸ˜…

  3. Sir_Scud: one of V11LeMans.com's many Member Emeritus. The combination of that Chuck (another M.E. ) engineered spring and the roller bearing, combined with (M.E.) Lucky Phil"s "V11 Shift Improvement" makes the V11 6speeder a delight. Don't neglect the benefits of grooming the external rear-set shift mechanism. Scud, buddy, you rock!

  6. i just stumbled across your forum post while researching possible V11 tenni bikes for sale. Just in case you do not know there seem to be a little wave on tenni le mans available here in europe now - i suppose some owners depart after many years to get the new V100 in the same kind of colour style ? https://www.dasparking-motorrad.de/gebrauchtmotorrader/moto-guzzi-tenni.html maybe the dutch offer is worth your attention ? Or you try contact https://tlm.nl/brand/moto-guzzi/ - these people are experts in sourcing rare guzzi originals - but you need to pay the price tag. hope i do not bother you and sorry for my poor english writing skills have a great guzzi time !

  7. While the sideplate is off, you could burnish the edges of the cam tracks in the cam wheels. I think Pete Roper suggested this. Then I shimmed the cam wheels inwards to maximize engagement with the shift fork pegs.

  8. Curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to know what spring was in there, and I wanted to see the weld from the inside. It's a magnificent bit of welding. I also imagined how I would feel if the spring broke in middle of the Mojave Desert. Cover popped off easily, so should be good to go. As you can see above, the "improved" spring is already fatigued. And I have no shortage of truly improved springs. I also picked up a 20-pack of bearings that replace the detent roller. Apparently, these are a common size for skateboards so they were cheap. Next few buyers of shift springs get a free bearing till I run out. An in other news... the Bitubo damper had a bad crunchy spot in the middle of travel. But the Ohlins is butter-smooth the whole way. I have not yet removed a Bitubo that was still operating well - they all have that crunchy, sticky spot.

  9. IMHO (as well as experience), the factory "stalk" mirrors are aggravating contributors to the handgrip vibration on the Sports, mounted just inboard of the grips and extending a "pendulum" superiorward significantly. Pretty sure no one ran that past the NVH Engineering Department . . .

  10. Christmas has been & gone, resulting in much Turkey & sausage consumption. It’s rained most days for the past 2 weeks. As an antidote to the post Christmas torpor I ventured into the garage today to do my first Roper plate installation on the silver V11 I found the lower sump stuck fast, gentle manipulation with a rubber mallet and wooden drift produced no movement. So searching v11lemans.com I found the suggestion of painting nitromors stripper onto the gasket. Sure it removes the paint from the sump, but I’m getting the upper & lower sump powder coated as the original paint is flaking off. The paper gasket absorbs the nitromors, and after 2 ~ 3 applications and leaving it for an hour, I inserted a craft knife blade into the gasket, gently tapped it in and the sump simply fell off, great result Now to get the powder coating done, and reassemble with 3 new gaskets, then repeat the roper plate installation on my greenie . . . Roll on spring 😊

  14. Greetings Phillip, Looking through my stash of old parts I believe I have some of the hardware you require. These are from a 2000 V11 sport that was converted to bars above the tripleclamp like you are wanting to do. If these will help ,let me know. Paul B

  15. Ducati has the same set up on their newer Supersport and Panigale...they offer a much shortened and smaller one out of aluminum just like it as an accessory to replace the regulation ones , " for the track"...lol, like you said ..a couple bolts and plug in the wires and your done.

  16. Ha - my first thought on that was "Triumph has made it easy for the aftermarket to create tail-tidy kits." I think government regulations require the license plate and lights to be at specific heights. That huge arm accomplishes it with what appears to be nothing more than four bolts and some wires. All the aftermarket suppliers need to do is match the bolt pattern and wiring scheme.

  17. One more suggestion: OURY street grips. They are a block pattern, made of low durometer (soft) rubber. I use them on parallel twins with good effect. Mountain bikers use the MTB version to cushion the shock of dirt riding. Less than $15 on Amazon.

  19. Yep, I see the difference with your glossy mirrors. Just saying they might be amplifying the vibration. And harshness. Noise? That could just be me . . .

  21. I just sat on it. There are no demo bikes. This was a display bike that was being ferried to different dealers. They also had 660 Tiger standard and another new bike or two.

  24. I have about 5 pounds of lead shot I was going to put in the bars on the '85 LeMans, but after the engine work the vibration went away and it wasn't necessary to try out. Might give it another go in my '74 Aermacchi this spring tho.

  28. You may have already done this, but standard Guzzi set up is to run the absolute minimum of throttle cable slack. It helps control the throttle better and that removes some of the herky jerky behavior.
