  3. My apologies if this crosses any boundaries, but @Lighting posted this spectacular V11 image in the "Gallery", yet not everyone sees things there or gets to comment on them. Such a moving and inspirational V11 image. Thanks, @Lighting !

  4. Hiya Paul..hope you are doing well, too. Well, as you can see, the Napoleon's hadn't been installed yet. The Mighty Scura has 38820 (bitchin) miles. The pro grips gel *do* make a noticeable difference.. As I..er.. mature.. the old girl is getting a little heavy. I'm thinning out the herd to the AeroLario being my "wind up" bike. The over 100,000 mile G5 went to a good home (and happy customer) last summer. Just put a new Conti Road Attack3 on the rear for the next keeper. She interviewed a couple of guys at the Kentucky rally this fall. "Oh, Gawd.. I really need that bike, but don't have the money right now." I don't need money, so I'll wait unless some other qualified prospect comes along. Another friend wants the old girl. He's an aircraft mechanic, and would be another good keeper. I want her to be kept in the manner that she has become accustomed..

  5. Re mirrors - I don't know anything about Valentin. But they are genuine Napoleons. And like others have said... you really need to get that bike tuned up. Don't try to cure the symptom at the bars, try to cure the problem in the engine. The Napoleon mirrors look cool and give better visibility than the stockers. Those are the only reasons to buy them. And on the down side, they somewhat limit your lane-splitting ability. Re the BMW cruisers - I rode them at a BMW demo day at my local dealer. I really wanted to like them, but they shook terribly at a reasonable mid-range RPM - and the seat vibrated (which I guess is a "feature" for some people). So you either had to lug it or wind it up. Apparently this was done intentionally so it would feel more like a Harley... so sad... they sure look pretty though. Instead of a new BMW cruiser, you could buy a low mileage Audace and a California Touring and still have money left over.

  6. What confuses me is that I seem to have moved into a parallel universe where the normal laws of physics are reversed. For every 1 KG of food I consume I put on 2 KG of weight, sigh. Seems my body has turned into a perpetual motion device and actually runs on thin air and stores double what I eat. Ciao

  7. Another fabulous red framed black V11. I cannot recall seeing any black V11s here in the UK, ever. Only Greenies & the occasional silver. Don’t understand why, a black V11 has tremendous presence, it’s a great colour for large block sport Guzzi’s. Apologies for a gratuitous pic of my Griso

  8. Separated at birth... My Scura is 375. Dang... we almost got them together that day we rode with Rox on his Scura in Santa Monica mountains. But mine was spitting oil out the timing cover that day - so I brought a red LeMans to Scura rally. Yours really needs to be moved back to the mountains so she can be ridden again in the manner to which she is accustomed. No more of this long, flat, traffic citation harvesting.

  9. I love playing this classic on guitar! I was impressed by the singer here... she sounds and looks a bit like the unfortunate Amy Whinehouse! But what really makes the song is the title: Guzzi Q!

  10. The Mighty Scura now has black Napoleons here in the midwest where it's more important to see if that's a cop car behind you than being narrow for lane splitting in SoCal.

  11. All this talk about hand numbing vibration, I don't have that issue at all on my Scura, but I also use a Crampbuster on all my bikes to avoid any wrist strain, but I'm curious now whether the clips on have any filler in them or not. May have to take a look. I tried mounting Napoleon's a few years ago, but the "shaving" down process was overly complex, so back to standard Aprilia/Guzzi mirrors, I took off the Mickey mouse round ones, those just seemed like a couple of lollipops. My odometer is at 09999, ready to roll over on the next trip, just in time to start racking up the miles this year with this wonderful riding weather down here in Texas.

  12. I was able to find one of these (the luggage rack not the bike) on Ebay Italy. It should be arriving this week. Not sure exactly who makes it, but I liked it better than the hepco becker. The MG ones seem way nicer both build quality and style. At least from the looks of the welds!

  13. Well it’s the middle of winter, can’t get out to ride, I’ve consumed too many pies & too much beer over the festive season, and by mid-March when I usually start riding again, all my gear will have shrunk over the winter At the NEC bike show in December I found this machine. It makes a V11 feel as compact as a FS1E

  14. Making some progress: Disassembled and cleaned ignition and starter switches, and various other electrical connections Got a bunch of powercoated parts installed, including the top triple clamp (steering bearing had almost no grease) Noticed rear brake disc is badly worn (thanks to the sintered pads...) Plastic T lamp holder is barely holding itself together (fortunately I had a new one already tucked away) Cleaned injector and throttle bodies (god I hate those tiny screws that hold the injectors in) UFI oil filter characteristically left the O-ring stuck in the engine. There's a Wix in there now. Still waiting on some goodies... but the Speedhut gauges have shipped. Looking forward to getting those in place. Thinking about gloss black powdercoat for the wheels. Building a list of little bits needed from Harpers.

  15. Dear me. That Scura/ image/setting is gorgeous. It certainly compares to the very first image posted in this thread by @Orson in 2005 . . . Magnificent V11!!

  16. Final ride of 2021. Tried to take a run up Mount Palomar, but wet roads and low visibility turned me away. Happy New Year everyone.

  20. I was eyeballing a guy's HD at a vendor in Florida and noticed a toggle switch around the passenger pillion...asked what it was for. Wellllll.....it wasn't for a heated seat (in the conventional sense).

  24. I guessing that this is the US$ price for a US gallon. If true, for this side of the pacific, $6US buys 3.76 litres. 1 US$ buys $1.47NZ. So Chuck's calculator pricing is equivalent to about $2.35NZ per litre, delivered to your plane. As for the 44gallon (UK) drum, it is the same size as a 55gallon (US) drum, which is about 200 litres. 25. No change. The Air France plane had an autopilot disconnect in cruise as it got extreme icing in a super cell. The crew must have been half asleep, and stalled it all the way into the sea. Loss of situational awareness. The pitot icing was gone in seconds, and just re-engaging the autopilot would have saved them. Sorry Chuck, didn't mean to hijack the posting from a Weather God.

  26. Nah mate, remember that commercial aircraft are flying on autopilot most of the time. Then airline procedure demands that only one pilot is flying if flying manually. On an Airbus, if both sidesticks are used at the same time, the inputs are algebraically added (with limits), just the same as manual inputs to B737 control wheels, except digitally instead of hand force. If both sidesticks are used, two SIDE STICK PRIORITY lights on the glareshield come on, a loud "DUAL INPUT" message is played every 5 sec, and a post flight report goes back to the airline. Not only can both pilots see each other's sidesticks, three computers are monitoring as well. The pilot can't hide on a modern aircraft.

  27. Here's how I did it. Ride an EV for 3 years and buy a Ballabio. Listen politely to the dealer as he explains the controls, etc. "Yeah, yeah. Got it. Gotta get this thing on the street." Start. Turn trottle. Release clutch. My, my, isn't the sky blue! After I calmed down, and realized the geometry, engine, weight, body position, etc., etc., weren't same as EV ... duh ... and the dealer stopped laughing, I made it two miles to a traffic signal without incident. Idle. Idle. Idle. Bubba pulls along side in the turn lane and, when light turns green, goes straight. My testosteronic and juvenile (and lotsa fun) response was to repeat--unintentionally--my dealer wheelie. Have only done one since, and that just to see if I could do one on purpose. Bill

  28. Not even.... When an Italian girl speaks in Italian to you, your eyes are closed to savor the contents... However, I'd be wary of the stiletto shoes though!
