Yes I have bought 2 or 3 from HMB-Guzzi. They were beautiful - casted by the original producer - after process changes and maybee also changes in the radiuses in that area. I would not hesitate to buy again. Rolf2 points

I like to dress up the bike, engine and hoses with Silicone spray. It gives a nice shine to everything and protects from water, good on rubber and plastic. But I ran into a problem the WD 40 Silicone Specialist Lubricant. I'm sure it lubricates but it leaves a flat milky finish. Not good to dress up your engine, car or bike. I recommend Ace Hardware Silicone Lubricant. It leaves a nice shine. I think the key was written in the instructions: recommended for slippery car bumpers. FYI1 point

The French importer of the Royal Enfield motorcycles is organizing a "low cost" championship for those would be amateur racers, or as they put it: "gentlemen riders". What a nice initiative! obviously, you still have to invest a little bit to participate, since you need to install a specific racing kit on your Continental GT, 2000 EUR. But the total cost to participate to all races is 1,400 EUR, or 200/300 EUR if you only want to do one, which you can... Have a look at the kitted Continental GT 650... looks almost as good as a Le Mans, no? unfortunately, the kit is only available to those who subscribe to the event as it says in the top photos here below. I like the spirit of that competition; old gizzards getting together for a mano a mano.... Here's the announcement from Moto.it1 point

Thanks for the images. The casting details around the mounts looks identical to the earlier gearboxes. Ciao1 point

Agreed..the WD40 Silicone spray lubricant is not good for anything I have wanted it for...was disappointed in the purchase.1 point

@Lucky Phil They look like Arrows to me. Arrows have these signature "flutty" with counter cones at the end of the pipe. But I am not certain. Arrows usually welds the cone; in the picture, it seems held by pop rivets. They don't have anything specific for the V11, but look at the Arrows for the Griso But I know a specialist of Pots d'échappements in the country where the picture was taken. He only sells exhausts for motorcycles. I asked if they recognize it. I don't know if I am going to get a reply. I tried to contact Brian-Ghezzi too, for a purchase, and they never replied. Edit: they replied! Zard or QD. Zard is an Italian company: For your RE For the Grizo (QD)1 point

Did you leave your bed with the wrong foot first today? Since I have some knowledge about casting in aluminium - I thought that my teory could explain why the later boxes seems not to crack so often as the earlier types. Smile to the world - and the world will smile back.1 point

How about giving a clue, like saying "it could be a country between Belarus and Germany"1 point

This is true but as a retired aircraft engineer of 42 years you need to bare a few things in mind. The piston engine technology you're referring to is around 75 years old or more and materials evolve. Also old aircraft practices/technology tends to not evolve much as the process of re certification is so onerous, so outdated practices hang around not because they are necessarily superior in some way but because they are a "known" and "approved" practice. I've been using and still use Hylomar or "Rolls Royce" compound as we also called it for as long as I can remember but there are modern sealants better suited and superior for motorcycle engines these days. Uhh, you only have to live a very long time. Pete admonished me one time that I'd forgotten to age. "People will realize you are a witch one of these days.." I've been working on that..1 point

Bloody awesome movie people....... well I can relate to it more so, than the most of you guys as Invercargill (Munro's home town) is 5hrs ride from here. There is a lot of real kiwi humour in the movie, bloody funny as hell. Ya have to check it out if not cos a 62yr old Kiwi kicked US arse but the fact he built the bike up from a 1920's Scout.... modified it in his shed with very little tools, he made pistons from scratch and conrods from bulldozer tracks..... the bike was capable of 200+mph... my V11 can only scratch 230kph and Burt did this before I was born. I had the privilege of seeing and hearing the replica bike (built to the same specs) drag race Aussies fastest Indian (a 4 valve head) man...... the sound brought tears to my eyes...... see the movie. PS: I'll put some pics up tomorow when I'm at home, in the meantime you can view the bike here http://community.webshots.com/album/296325135CUQmiB1 point
