How about some BA9s from Superbright. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/ba9s-ba7s/ba9s-led-bulb-5-smd-led-tower-ba9s-retrofit-car/2077/ Actually go through the whole bike and get LED replacements and make it worth the postage. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniature-and-subminiature-bulbs/194-led-bulb-1-led-miniature-wedge-retrofit-car/197/ These are great for the dash buy all the colours to match the lens, the nice thing about the 194 is they are an AC lamp so you don't have to worry about polarity, they have a shoulder that fits into the white holder and you can solder the wires direct to the lamp because they should never need replacing. I use the 90 degree ones. For the direction indicators perhaps https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/bayonet-bulbs/67-led-bulb-15-led-forward-firing-cluster-ba15s-retrofit-car/169/ With an LED flasher- you can buy 2 pin ones but i'm more confident in the 3 pin variety with a ground conection. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/flashers-load-resistors/cf13gl-02-led-bulb-electronic-flasher/782/836/ Head light bulbs are a bit of a crap shoot. I think they will be an H4, I currently run a fan type in my V7, I opened up a hole in the rear of the bucket to let it stick out, flush actually. You will find better deals by just googling. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-headlight-bulbs-conversion-kits/h4-led-fanless-headlight-conversion-kit-with-internal-drivers-4000-lumensset/5321/11896/4 points

I can assure you they are still in business, I got a mail from Magni just the other day giving some info on the forks in my Sfida Communication can be very hit and miss and frustrating. Italy isn't like the US/Canada where level of service is everything. Magni probably has way more work than he can handle so he/they are less bothered if a few enquiries get skipped. I've been communicating with him on and off for quite a few years now, sometimes I get a response right away, other times I need to send out multiple mails before I hear back If you really want the Magni fairing, then I'd just try again. Once he hooks up with you and answers the enquiry and if you decide to go ahead it should be plain sailing, at least that's been my experience, it's getting that first contact that's tricky Giovanni has good english too. magni@magni.it is the address I use.2 points

This LED headlamp has been serving well in the Sport: https://vintagecarleds.com/shop/bulbs-only/vcm3-bulbs-only/ [edit: Over 2 years, almost 10,000 miles/ 15.000 km on this LED headlamp "bulb". I see they sell full inserts, as well, but I only installed the "bulb" in my steel-bucket Bosch headlamp.]2 points

Let's face it, we are a tight and dedicated community. We have our own vernacular. Some of it may not be "web-searchable." (I am often stymied that I search for V11 answers and find = V11LeMans.com !) "colloquial?" I reckon so. There are the traditional V-twin frame monikers (Loop, Tonti, Spine) that have, now, gone by the wayside. Yet, who first coined "Spine Frame?" Not sure that is what Tony Foale called the original?2 points

"exploding flywheel" - credit probably due to some poor soul owner of a Scura "bubbling engine paint" - any owner of a 2002 model. "spine frame" - I wonder who was first to use that? Or was it an official Moto Guzzi term? Lucky Phil Shift Extender Unbreakable shift spring2 points

This writing from Dave Richardson, originally posted on MGNOC at the V11 introduction, should be referenced here, IMO. The date of the writing is unspecified, as far as I can see, but must be very early ~2000 (?) Thank you, MGNOC, for archiving this excellent contribution to the V11 Sport history and origins! (And thanks to our member @ScuRoo for re-posting this excellent reference!) https://www.mgnoc.com/print/print_article_ask_the_wrench.html2 points

Coincidence All the "what if" and "what about" really don't mean much aside from entertainment value. Don't confuse correlational with causation. Sure, make a mental note. You never know when you might meet "a guy" who really knows. Guzzi riders being pretty thin on the ground anywhere. You just never know who you may run into. I'm still waiting on the weather.2 points

Here's the video that goes with it. How reliable is it? 12k Canadian Dollars. Someone should really pick it up. It looks very nice to me.2 points

Rereading the MGNOC post of Dave Richardson about the early introduction of the V11 Sport (re-posted by @ScuRoo), I see what is, perhaps, the earliest attribution to calling the tail cowl storage the "Monkey Paw Trap" . . . " . . . each U.S. bike has its tool kit stuffed into a cloth compartment under the seat hump, referred to by my parts man, Aaron, as a monkey paw trap, because it's only wide enough for an open hand. Grab something in the pouch and you can't get your hand back out!" The V11 has some other unique colloquialism references. Care to contribute? PORK CHOP MAN! ME TALKIN' TO YOU! Had a realy long face today picking up the bearings, have the reciept to show. Normaly bearings around 20$, that's why I asked. They are quite wide, but but. 2 bearings in the freezer, and heatgun to 90+C on the frame. Misses bringing 1 and 1 bearing and instaled. Cheers Tom Sent fra min SM-A525F via Tapatalk1 point

For the actual bearings, or the price installed? If those are US Dollars, that is rather stinging money. If it includes the removal and replacement, I totally understand. "Special Practices May Apply" . . .1 point

In the past, I have used BreakFree® CLP for its PTFE ("Teflon") content. Next time I think I'll go with Maxima Chain Wax (just not certain it will flow clear through the cable housing). I also use this handy MotionPro Cable Lube tool (I never thought of using their lube, though) . . .1 point

I picked up a well farkled 2007 Griso with around 40K? kms for a decent price. I like the idea of all my guzzis being the same familiar, reliable 2V design. fwiw jmo I love the look of the Griso 4V in the Tenni green and the later red SE, but I really don't need the extra power or the headaches of worrying about the flat tappets possibly being an issue. If you consider a 4V bike, make sure it's rollerized; I know personally of one dealer who fudged the registration date for a couple of leftover Grisos; at some point someone will be getting a nasty surprise. The roller kits are becoming scarcer as time goes on and depending on the bike there are apparently 3? different kits to remedy the problem. The Griso Ghetto is a wealth of knowledge, worthy for any prospective owner. fwiw1 point

I have an '07 Griso 1100. It has basically an evolution of the V11 motor. It is stone axe simple and stone axe reliable. The newer Griso 1200 is more powerful. But it does have one potential reliability flaw. Up to around 2012 they had issues with tappet failure. The solution, it seems, was to replace the simple flat tappet set up with a roller tappet setup. It seems flat tappets stopped working..... As long as it is a later year Griso 1200, or it is an earlier year Griso 1200 that has been converted to roller tappets you should be fine. Or you can just go with a Griso 1100 (which seems to be fine with flat tappets). I personally don't mind the lower power of the 1100, but I would not turn down the extra power of the 1200 as long as it was a roller tappet example. More power is generally a good thing to me. I at first wished I had waited and got a 1200 Griso. And then they started failing. Now I don't feel as bad about getting the 1100. But I am really disappointed in the whole flat tappet fiasco. It was an engineering CF that should not have happened.1 point

Well a motorcycle is a packaging problem but at the end of the day I think the designers and engineers do an absolutely amazing job in that regard these days. Look at latest hyper sports bikes technical data, incredible engineering and packaging. BTW my latest bike is a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor. Air cooled 270 deg crank, OHC 4 valve, fuel injected, balance shaft, efi and anti lock brake equipped bike for under $10,000aud on the road. Should do me while all the "Must have the latest" crowd do the R&D on the new Guzzi over the next 2 years before I slide in like a shithouse rat and buy the refined and sorted version. Ciao Old V2 Panagale. A packaging masterpiece. Interceptor 650, classic packaging.1 point

Bellagio is probably the best 2 valve engine built but the 8V is without a doubt superior in every way apart from fuel economy and perhaps smoothness. Having said that the 1400 motors are ridiculously smooth! While it has been done putting the 8V into the quasi Tonti frame of the Bellagio would be a foolish move. In the same way that some people insist on bolting an old five speed onto the 8V and sticking it in a Tonti frame the simple fact is the frame isn't designed to handle the output of the motor. A decent Bellagio makes about 70RWHP, a V11 makes about 76. An 8V 1200, even with the stock factory mapping which is far too rich at the top end, makes 96 and with a decent map will make 'About 100' with a big boost in torque all the way through the rev range. Once rollerised all the 1200's are effectively the same motor and despite their differences in intake and exhaust designs can all be made to make the same figures or close to. Whether one prefers the Griso, Sport, Norge or Stelvio they are all much of a muchness in terms of performance. In my opinion the 1200 8V was the pinnacle of the engine's development. What machine it's in isn't really an issue. Others will probably choose to differ. I'm not going to argue. Oh, and Chris? Next time you're up take the Green Horror out for a flog. Gearing it down, even a tiny bit, has improved it even more IMO. Even with my gargantuan carcass on it I keep lofting the front wheel unintentionally pulling away from the lights! Not bad for something with the wheelbase of a supertanker with what resembles a hippopotamus riding it!1 point
