  2. Took my silver Sport for its annual MOT test today (this is the annual UK roadworthy test, equivalent to the German TUV). First time out on 2 wheels since Nov last year. I generally get bikes back on the road towards the end of March when the road salt has gone

  4. A fun anecdote; I was the parts manager at H-D Miami in the '90s. While moving into our new building, I discovered an old box of leather jackets. H-D had a program in the '70s where you could trade in your old jacket for 1/2 off a new one, or somesuch; nobody had ever returned the old jackets to the factory. I sold those jackets at a 20% premium over the new jackets, and sold them all. Most were $500+. You just can't buy the credibility of age very often. I laughed under my breath as these customers wore the jackets as if they'd been riding for 30 years and teased their buddies about their shiny new leather. So the high price on the fedora lounge items doesn't surprise me.

  5. I envy you for being there to see those blues greats back in their prime days. I really love the blues, from the southern roots to Chicago where it nurtured and matured. I can only imagine what great stuff was going down there in the day. The first wave of electric blues!

  6. Shot with an emphasize on the white shirt, leaving the face in the shadow, so focus would be concentrated on what the photograph wanted to show. Did it work?

  8. https://www.foxcreekleather.com/fcl-cafe-racer/ These guys make some of the best. I have one similar. They take your measurements and tailor make in upstairs of their shop in Independence, VA. American made leather, lifetime guarantee. A bit pricy but I found worth every penny. Not sure about armor, I don't have in mine. Generally I opt for my Dainese Air Frame textile jacket with either the D-Air bag vest or a track vest underneath instead of the leather. I'm too old to be sportin' leather for chicks!

  9. Belly Up gets some amazing big-name shows, as well as a lot of local talent and fun tribute bands. And we are gonna have to chat about those Chicago days... I love the Chicago Blues scene. Have you seen the movie Cadillac Records? It's about Chess records and does a pretty good job with the story - early emphasis on Muddy Waters. Beyonce plays Etta James... and wow.

  13. The ECU drain is only microamps, the 525 regulator shouldn't draw anything from the OEM wiring because it's connected downstream of the headlight relay. The black wire acts as a Voltage reference but it also powers up the electronics.

  14. It could have been done on post-production too. It is simply amazing how photographs can be corrected to make you look... better, different, younger, slimmer; Thank god the V11 does not need any artifice to look sexy1

  15. Yes, there was a little voice in my head saying this might be a mistake. It just really doesn't add anything aesthetically to be honest and it's originally there as a kind of consistent line break where the angles change as the faces aren't flat. Mine looks fine but adds nothing really. This bike is going to confuse the hell out of someone if it's ever owned by a Guzzi enthusiast when I'm gone. Ciao

  18. I took a quick look this morning; some of the pre-owned leather jackets I looked at were more expensive than a new Shangri-La Café Racer sold new by a shop here in Houston... I will look more, but prices don't seem realistic and I don't haggle. Is the brand Aero Cafe Racer Black any good? I thought a used leather jacket would be around $400; https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/fs-aero-cafe-racer-black-custom-collar.107112/

  19. While the sliders are away getting re furbished I thought I'd re finish the brake and axle fittings and also the upper clamp Scud sold me in Matt Black 2K. I went to the effort of removing the casting line on the clamp which was a wasted effort in reality. I just used JB weld to fix the slight damage on the r/h fitting as it's of no structural significance. Before After Ciao

  20. First owner of my Scura R was a Manxman - it was only after testing its limits on a few laps around the TT course that he traded it back in for an Aprilia with Paul Dedman. After finalising deal with Paul I’d requested his contact & in speaking with him - I remember him saying he’d just wished it had more top end speed!! Guess some guy’s always look for more if it’s out there… Anyhoo I really dig Ashley Law competed the TT on a V11 Tenni tho!

  23. Hmmmmm . Let's go over this "clearly " mentioned STUFF . You think your wife doesn't know you purchased a bike ! Every night you go to sleep , she gives you the Vulcan mind probe and finds out every thought , act and muse you have done that day . She isn't going to bring it up , simply for the fact she "can and will use it against you" when the time comes ! You cannot ration or reason ANY discussion about this motorcycle . The day will come you will simply say "oh , I thought I told you?" ..... Then_____________________ buy her a pair of Jimmy Choo high heels and a pricey purse .

  24. I had a salesman knock me out of purchasing an Arai helmet some time ago . He said "you buy the helmet that fits you" . I ended up with a Shoei .

  25. No, it’s a Shoei RF-1200. A basic full face sport helmet. The RF-1200 replaced the RF-1100 and is now being replaced with the RF-1400, so it’s been around for a while with a series of design refinements. I can use my Ray-Ban Wayfarers with it, so I don’t think you’ll necessarily need a modular helmet to wear glasses. I bought it from my local Cycle Gear store, and they had a good selection of helmets. When I was looking at helmets I liked the idea of a helmet that was “hand made” (for the most part) in Japan, rather than cranked-out of a factory in China (Even Bell is no longer made here in the States), so I was intertesed in Shoei or Arai. I also wanted a helmet with a second safety certification to the DOT, i.e., the Snell or ECE certifications. Those “requirements” eliminated a lot of helmets like Bell, AGV. However, to be fair, I believe you can get a $150 HJC polycarbonate helmet with the DOT and Snell certifications. After trying the Shoeis and Arais, the Shoei fit my head the best, and I was able to get very good all-around-my-head snug fit with the RF-1200. It’s a basic no frills helmet that was just shy of $500 for a solid color, which suits me. Graphics add a lot to the cost. Anyway, I’m pretty happy with the RF-1200. It’s comfortable, snug, the vents do what they need to do, the Pin-Lock visor works great.

  27. Bolt is straight. Just seems a little sloppy, like the swivel bearing of the shock is a little enlarged.
