Yes, I had the same problem. It unscrews easily. Use a socket, as I think it is a plastic fitting. Cleaning is a bit awkward, as the window is only accessible through small holes. I cleaned mine by squirting WD-40 using a nozzle extension straw. Maybe @Rolf Halvorsen can offer better advice, as he has repaired gearboxes.3 points

I have both wire and alloy wheels. The wire wheels are heavier and prone to leakage. Also despite all the cooing over the Griso being so 'Retro' and therefore benefiting stylistically from wire wheels I personally think it is bollocks. It's the closest thing they've produced to a 'Modern' motorbike and doesn't need to be hampered by wire wheels! That said my opinion has changed. At first I thought wire wheels would look great. It was only with time I changed my mind.2 points

The one one my 2005 Coppa Italia seems to be made of aluminium. Use a 6-corners pipe of 20mm (not a 12 corners pipe). Then you could clean it from the inside. I think pressurized air would do the job. (Not acetone - since that would destroy the window of plastic) The part number should be 01205730 according to my book. Rolf2 points

See what I mean? The jacket tailor made from Foxcreekleather has a comparable price with some of the pre-owned jackets I looked at on the Fedora Lounge. They look pretty good too.... With a leather jacket, here in Texas, I don't think I could wear protections. Unless I intend to pass away from dehydration. I need a Café Racer Leather jacket suitable for Death Valley!!! Maybe this one? https://www.foxcreekleather.com/mens-summer-riding-jacket/2 points

I don't think we should grow up, and it is a shame that we do. I would give anything to be able to rediscover the small emotions and joy of life again. I am tired of feeling that it is a repeat of something I have done before. My motto always was: Experience helps you recognize a mistake... when you make it again!2 points

I do: shop stand holding the rear, floor jack padded with wood and rubber pad under the motor, and ratchet straps on the upper tree -attached to rafters for balance and tipover prevention. Splay out the rafter attach points for security. Remove calipers and hang them safely out of the way First! With wheel and clipons off just loose the fork clamps and slip them out. I'd use shipping tubes for shipping, forks wrapped with Styrofoam sheet. Don't know where you'll find them for sale as singles. You'll want a decent torque wrench and values handy for reassembly.1 point

Very nice collection of V11s, Guzzimax! Does each one serve a different riding purpose for you, or are you obsessed and just can’t help yourself? How about of a nice family pic or two? Your silver Sport looks fabulous. Cheers!1 point

Given that there is no dipstick like the engine and no spill-over hole like the final drive, the window is the only thing that lets you check the oil level. As for accuracy I don't know, but it holds only 850ml. And for cleaning the sight glass, it's been a while, but I think I cleaned the slight glass in an ultrasonic cleaner. I had a transmission where the redline heavy had turned to a solid gel. I probably used diesel fuel in the ultrasonic.1 point

IDK how pricey the new part is ..... Go ahead and replace it , you will (probably) never be satisfied with cleaning it . I know how expensive these are for construction equipment is . WOW !1 point

For everyone. The Championship doesn't start until the European rounds. Anyone on a 2022 Ducati will be at a disadvantage initially so don't be surprised to see Bastianini doing well initially. Doha is also a "left field" track as well that you can't draw conclusions from. Ciao1 point

Do realize that a Fox Creek jackets is not your department store thickness leather, "soft and feely". It is real, hand graded thick leather. Like race leathers thickness/quality. Their jackets are heavy and wear very well. My jacket is probably 15 years old and would pass as almost new, despite 10 years of hard use. I'd call them and get someone on the phone who can talk "tailoring" you a new custom fitted jacket. The down stairs is usually just a store clerk. Tell them you want to speak to someone from "upstairs" who is actually involved in the fitting/cutting/sewing process.1 point

Zarco was going to get to Q2, his last lap was good enough to put him in front of Fabio and Brad; However, his lap got cancelled since he through a yellow flag, which are no longer flags but lights. When you are on a flying lap, the last one of the session, the one that you had been waiting to ace for the qualifying, you have to hang back? I agree that it should be the case during a race. Many pilots trying to get in the front. But during a qualifying lap, it is not the same. I did not see Zarco overtake anyone as the yellow lights flashed. I understand the safety principle, but he should then be given the chance to repeat the lap.1 point

A fun anecdote; I was the parts manager at H-D Miami in the '90s. While moving into our new building, I discovered an old box of leather jackets. H-D had a program in the '70s where you could trade in your old jacket for 1/2 off a new one, or somesuch; nobody had ever returned the old jackets to the factory. I sold those jackets at a 20% premium over the new jackets, and sold them all. Most were $500+. You just can't buy the credibility of age very often. I laughed under my breath as these customers wore the jackets as if they'd been riding for 30 years and teased their buddies about their shiny new leather. So the high price on the fedora lounge items doesn't surprise me.1 point

NBC coverage last year was BAD.. they even inserted commercials in the middle of the race, that's when I got really pissed at NBC.1 point

Thanks for the "thanks", @FreyZI, but more >thanks< back-at-ya for posting that poignant image of those two swingarm pivots, juxtaposed. This is not just a difference in measurement method. There is a serious difference in dimensions here for both the pivots and the Frame Side Plates, themselves.. We VeeEleveners do love a puzzle, if not an outright conundrum!1 point

First owner of my Scura R was a Manxman - it was only after testing its limits on a few laps around the TT course that he traded it back in for an Aprilia with Paul Dedman. After finalising deal with Paul I’d requested his contact & in speaking with him - I remember him saying he’d just wished it had more top end speed!! Guess some guy’s always look for more if it’s out there… Anyhoo I really dig Ashley Law competed the TT on a V11 Tenni tho!1 point

This LED headlamp has been serving well in the Sport: https://vintagecarleds.com/shop/bulbs-only/vcm3-bulbs-only/ [edit: Over 2 years, almost 10,000 miles/ 15.000 km on this LED headlamp "bulb". I see they sell full inserts, as well, but I only installed the "bulb" in my steel-bucket Bosch headlamp.]1 point

This writing from Dave Richardson, originally posted on MGNOC at the V11 introduction, should be referenced here, IMO. The date of the writing is unspecified, as far as I can see, but must be very early ~2000 (?) Thank you, MGNOC, for archiving this excellent contribution to the V11 Sport history and origins! (And thanks to our member @ScuRoo for re-posting this excellent reference!) https://www.mgnoc.com/print/print_article_ask_the_wrench.html1 point

I love Moto GP been to maybe 8 or 10 GPs. Anyone interested in COTA in April, I'll likely be there. Gonna miss #46. Saw him get his last 2nd. Lots of photos too. I haven't heard about TV coverage this year.1 point

Hence docc my attitude that if the oil manufacturer doesn't have a PDS listing all the additive details then I'm not going to buy their product. The information provided on the container and in a lot of PDS is like a star rating on food or white goods these days. Designed for consumers that don't want to go to the effort of educating themselves on "the details". A marketing persons paradise. Ciao1 point

My Kawi ate a camshaft lobe running on ActEvo. So, I switched away from Castrol. Now, for my various bikes, I have a shelf with Repsol, Valvoline, Mobil1 4-stroke and Motorex. All good synth oils - substantially better in most regards than what was recommended when the bikes were built.1 point

I was able to get a standard grease gun fitting on the front nipple on my '03 Le Mans. Was not able to bend the hose successfully through the obvious direct path, but when I routed it through a crevice over the top it was easier. I had to use a pair of pliers to push it down onto the nipple once aligned. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk1 point
