Furthering our noble efforts to clarify the V11 nomenclature (we are the world's foremost experts on the Moto Guzzi V11) @FreyZI's current thread "Sign-up list for new carbon fiber seat cowls" has had some fun with "what-to-call-what" . . . I'm to the point of saying that your LeMans >might< have "PorkChops", but mySport : nope3 points

looking for a clean V11 Le Mans, could be any of the variants but ideally a 2002 champagne Le Mans is what i'm after. doesn't have to be in, but nearer to the southeast would be best. let me know if you have one for sale, i'm looking to buy when i find the right bike. all OEM but extra credit for MG titanium pipes. Have you seen the Bayliss edition of the V2? https://www.ducati.com/us/en/bikes/panigale/panigale-v2-bayliss-1st-championship-20th-anniversary It comes with Ohlins suspension. I don’t believe the standard V2 has the “S” option for Ohlins. I guess Ducati figures that if someone were to pay the extra for Ohlins on a V2 they would just go for V4.2 points

The Supersport is very comfortable but doesn't have the rocket engine like the V2, although it looks great. The SS has the torque-y engine (similar to the Indian -above-) while the V2 is a screamer. Also has a saddlebag package and is considered at Touring Sportbike.2 points

My assumption is that the mold can be used for whatever fabric is desired, be it carbon, kevlar, or fiberglass. There are a couple color options, too (red, orange, and blue), and I'd be checking out the red if I weren't trying to match the C/F on the Tenni. Here's a pic of the red kevlar weave with C/F. I imagine there would be some slight upcharge for colored humps. And maybe glass is less. I've seen a used OEM hump on eBay for $200. Prototyping the mold is going to cost $550. The more Guzzisti on board now, the more of us there are to share around that initial cost. If a few more people jump on this wagon, we can get C/F humps for less than $200 a piece. People who come to the party late will be insulted and subjected to indignities. . This forum has a collective engineering and fabrication tradition to uphold. One note: This part will not include the "rump bumper" -- that is the little vertical pad element. On the Tenni, the rump bumper is a little different, being covered in the so-called suede (which should, AFAIK, actually be called "rough-out" leather). The non-Tenni rump bumper is black injection-molded rubber. I don't know how hard it would be to get rubber rump bumpers made. I plan to cut something to size and cover it with black marine PU to match the seat, stapled on the back. Cheers, Frey1 point

A Wave disc is typically a brake disc that isn't round, it has a wavy shape to it is a basically round shape but not round. It does much the same as discs with slots or drilled holes. It is supposed to increase cooling surface and it allows for the pad contact area to vent.1 point

I watched a few reviews, and groin warming was indeed pointed out by several. Definitively not interested in the V4. If I go for a V2, it would only be to get the bread and the croissants from the bakery. Any serious riding would only involve the Le Mans. I am not dead set on getting an additional bike. Once I deal away the 911, then I will carefully evaluate what I want/can do.1 point

Well, you were in the middle of heated technical discussion, and there was no opportunity for me to break in with: -"is it you?" Then you moved with the TSC guy and my attention was called elsewhere. I was going to find you again, but I had to have an impromptu exit. I was indeed in another vehicle, with a P6X registration plate. I got up to a late start that morning, and did not want to line up at Costco for gas. I am sure our paths will cross again.1 point

Count me in for one. As I would probably paint it I am not super concerned with how it looks, only that it fits well.1 point

That's three (in the first hour)! I forgot to suggest the the nomenclature "booty lid." I hope it's not too late to submit nominations.1 point

Dropped some parts off at Riggeals this weekend. I took him my matte side panel (to match), my gloss hump, and an OEM hump. Here's the quote: C/F seat hump: Prototyping and mold = $550; each hump = $130. If 6 of us want humps, we're at ~220. If we can get a few more folks involved, we can get the price under $200 per item. Just in case anyone is interested, C/F side covers: Prototyping and mold $710; each unit $110. I didn't ask, so I don't know if the mold for the other side could be easily (cheaply) fabricated (assuming L and R are symmetrical). Possible we could get a discount if there are other parts Guzzisti on the motha of all V11 forums want made in batches (tank chin pad, fenders, etc.) We're looking at 3 months for wait and manufacture. We'd own the molds. I'm in on a seat hump if at least 5 others are on board. If we get that far, I'd need to know weave and finish choices. Likewise, @docc, may be worth putting out an APB calling all C/F parts wanters. Cheers, Frey1 point

Incidentally, I asked Bruno "Brian" Saturno at G-B if he had any interest in making up the humps, too. He responded that he was happy to continue producing the Trofeo kits and creating a new "evolution" of the Sport Monza kit. He noted that the carbon belly pans, rear fenders, and wave discs are "always available". Cheers, Frey.1 point

Just spoke to a guy in Gettysburg who's been doing fiber and carbon manufacturing for decades (mostly dragster bodies). It happens that his shop is directly on a reasonable route for my upcoming trip, so I'll take an OEM hump, a matte carbon bit off the Tenni, and my current damaged carbon hump. I'll let you know what he quotes and then get a sense of what yinz all would want for options (weave, gloss/matte).1 point

One of my client's used to build cars for his Indy racing series. Those panels are incredibly strong and light.1 point

I've been around CF professionally and hobby wise for more than 40 years. I had factory Ducati carbon fairings and fuel tank on my 888 Corse race bike and they were the real deal compared to most aftermarket stuff. The fairing panels had honeycomb strengthening panels in the areas where needed to prevent oil canning and provide stiffness and it was all pr preg and hence autoclaved. At work we had big autoclave ovens to cure repairs to aircraft parts and rolls of pre preg in freezers plus all the vacuum gear to use. Interesting process and results. CF doesn't like lightning strikes I can say that. It can also take a major hit and seem undamaged until you look at the back side of the panel and find the displaced carbon filaments. Important things to be aware of on the fin of a commercial jet that's made entirely of CF. Ciao1 point

The belly pan is a hella lot more complex part than the hump. Maybe G-B will do some humps for us. I'll take a belly pan, too, while we're at it, if they can do it in matte.1 point

I reached out to Ghezzi-Brian about a carbon belly pan, they wanted 310 euro shipped. Currently the exchange rate is 1 euro to 1.10 dollar, so $300 dollars is probably the correct price. Hi Joe, thank you for your e-mail The carbon bellypan is available at euro 310,00 shipping cost to US included Delivery time: 3 days from order Payment: by PayPal For further info pls feel free to contact me Kind regards Bruno”Brian”Saturno1 point

Doesn't this represent child abuse of some sort? I mean an EV first bike, are you trying to turn him off motorcycling or something? What next, a Fender Stratocaster with rubber strings to protect your hearing. What's the world coming to. Ciao1 point

I think painted to match hump cap is the best look for the V11. But a carbon fiber P-cover would be a nice accent on some bikes, and a great universal-fit for any privacy shields that have gone missing. There is a CF fabricator near me, and I assume also in many cities. I wonder if a private shop would be willing to a small run of cowl caps and a member here could simply provide one of their saddle shields to the fabricator to make a mold from. Viewer advisory... this video features a motorcyclist with a passenger who is not wearing proper protective gear.1 point
