Update: By my count, if I include @Lucky Philand @stewgnu (gonna do everything possible to share with brethren on the islands), we're up to 9 takers. Excellent! Way to open your wallets for purely aesthetic purposes! Given that number (and I'm counting on at least one more to chime in), there are enough on board to offset the cost of creation of the mold and prototyping and to get to a (subjectively) reasonable price per unit. I've gone ahead and told Greg to go ahead with the mold and prototyping. I haven't spoken with Greg about when payment is expected. I'll float the $550 mold and prototyping. I'll make up that investment with each member's contribution as the humps become available. Recall that we're looking at ~3 months before we have our parts. I'll plan to deal with logistics of distributing the humps, as safely and cost effectively as possible. Some (MD and VA) may be able to take delivery in person if desiring a reason for a ride to a convenient meeting point. As it will be some time before the mold and prototyping are done, I don't need your specific requests right now, but I'll be in touch with you all to confirm specifications. As the "not-gloss" finish will be at the end of production, its not critical to nail this down any time soon. Gloss is pretty obvious, but "not gloss" has some not-well-defined gradations between satin and matte. What I have been calling "matte" may be more like "satin". I'll get some pics posted of the "not-gloss" side panel I took to Greg for matching. Meanwhile, it seems that several of yinz want that "not-gloss" to match your Mistral C/F cans (which I presume are similar to mine). Again, not time sensitive: For those wanting the usual C/F/ look (whatever the sheen), 2X2 carbon twill weave (kinda standard). At the moment, I have +1 on red kevlar weave -- that is going to be sweet @p6x(BTW, HBD!). Thanks to all for your interest!4 points

Replaced Needle roller bearing in right hand side of shaft drive. I had noticed a bit of latteral movement. Used slide hammer to get bearing out (Only look 10 light blows with hammer. Bearing had no grease in it just dirty water. Got local mechanic to press new bearing in. Replaced missing washer. No movement now3 points

No, they would do the matte finish. Here's what Greg shared about the process, through my filter: The C/F parts that come out with a matte-looking finish are made with a vacuum process that pulls resin through the fiber, but also pulls a lot of the resin off the part altoghether, leaving a very thin part (possibly with teenie-tiny holes), but more susceptible to cracking. In a non-vacuum process, the resin remains on the surface of the C/F, resulting in a glossy finish. Thus, the application (by the fabricator) of a matte coating. I guess they don't have a lot of folks wanting a matte finish, but says they can do it (I left my vacuum/matte side panel with Greg so he knew what to match (for me)). It's a family business: Pops and daughter do the C/F work and son-in-law does the paint. Pops says he's really good.2 points

Good evening, If I'm understanding you correctly, they would come out of the mold high gloss and a clear matte, semi- gloss or whatever would be applied by the end user? If we could come in $220 or better and it pretty closely matches my screen. You guys can count me in for one. I'd be super interested to see a sample of what the CF surface will look like.2 points

For my son Landon. I know the gasoline ICE purist will not like the fact that its an electric bike, but that's the world young Landon grew up into. The EFTR Jr is a replica of the FTR Carbon, capable of 7mph in low and 15 mph in high settings. It has front and rear brakes with rear adjustable suspension. Learning battery charging management will probably do him well in his lifetime. My first bike was a smoking(literally) Italian made 50cc two stroke, Indian badged import from the 70's, I loved that bike and its still in my parents garage today.1 point

I want to sell my Magni Fairing and return to a more comfortable riding position on my 2000 V11 Sport. I do not have the original handle bars and headlight brackets. Is this all that I will need.? I would rather have handle bars mounted on the triple tree if possible.1 point

Headlight brackets are expensive even used. You can still get the top triple and brackets used but I'd estimate the cost the be around $400usd these days. Ciao1 point

The stock upper triple clamp for a 2000 V11 Sport has bosses in it where the handle bar clamps would be if it was a version that used a handle bar instead of clip ons, as I recall. My wife also has a 2000 V11 Sport that originally came with clip ons. I actually bought the Billy-Bob (Billabio) stock handle bars and handle bar clamps, drilled out the bosses in the stock top triple clamp, and installed the Billy-Bob handle bars on her V11. If you are afraid of drilling out the stock triple clamp you could likely buy a set of triple clamps from a handle bar equipped version of V11. But be careful, as recent discussions indicate that there may be two different versions of triple clamp with two different offsets. It seems the early V11 may have a set of triple clamps with more offset, which results in less trail. While having less offset and more trail may be a good thing, it would mean that a top triple clamp with less offset would have to be matched with a bottom triple clamp with less offset. Or if you just drill out the stock triple clamp you already have you don't have to open that can of worms. As long as the bars aren't too high you should be able to make the cables and brake lines work. But if it is an issue you can always buy cables or brake lines for a version of V11 that had higher bars, like the aforementioned Billy-Bob or a Lemans.1 point

In support of continuing superior V11 refinement, you can count me in on a CF booty lid to match my Carbon Fiber FBF cans on my '03 LM. Assume Frey ZI will handle disbursement and the builder will handle shipping? I expect all that usual collective organizing stuff will follow via comments. I'll be on the MotoGP road to Texas for about 2 weeks but available for collecting $ after 4/15/22. Must say another great effort by the group. I never know what's the next for "opportunity" for my wallet1 point

When I was running steel gears in my old roundfin engine I blocked the drain holes to the sump in the bottom of the chest and drilled a couple in the back wall of the chest so the pump gear ran in a bath and fed oil up the train. Was it needed? I have no idea but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Not being as familiar as many here I didn't know that the V11 and early Hi-Cam motors used revised drainage from the timing chest. Earlier Tonti squarefin engines still used the drains at the bottom of the chest though. With the Nuovo 8V's I also can't remember what the drainage set up is but I have a block on the bench so I can check when I next go in to the old workshop. That may be a few days off though as we went down to Melbourne to visit #2 son on Monday and spent Tuesday evening with him. This morning he was feeling shithouse so he tested himself and sure enough he's stuffed full of Covid! Now we were outside for most of the time we were with him but we'll isolate for a few days to avoid the risk of infecting anyone else if we are carrying so block inspection may take a a bit longer than it normally would....1 point

Platter for you: I got a rear master rebuild kit MG cycle. Front brake and hydraulic clutch rebuild kits are no longer available. Calipers: Caliper rebuild kits are available from Powerhouse.UK Diesel fuel in an ultrasonic cleaner works miracles. It's not a whole lot more expensive to just buy new calipers that include Brembo pads pre-installed. And it's a LOT easier... but it's so fun to install the new seals...1 point

"Fragility" (the light bulbs on the drum head) perhaps suggest the series of Veglia instruments that went by the wayside . . . "Per-SEV-erance" (the car struggling against the logs) speak to my Sport's service to me over all this time. And distance. She deserves Carbon Fiber panties to show off that fine booty . . .1 point

My assumption is that the mold can be used for whatever fabric is desired, be it carbon, kevlar, or fiberglass. There are a couple color options, too (red, orange, and blue), and I'd be checking out the red if I weren't trying to match the C/F on the Tenni. Here's a pic of the red kevlar weave with C/F. I imagine there would be some slight upcharge for colored humps. And maybe glass is less. I've seen a used OEM hump on eBay for $200. Prototyping the mold is going to cost $550. The more Guzzisti on board now, the more of us there are to share around that initial cost. If a few more people jump on this wagon, we can get C/F humps for less than $200 a piece. People who come to the party late will be insulted and subjected to indignities. . This forum has a collective engineering and fabrication tradition to uphold. One note: This part will not include the "rump bumper" -- that is the little vertical pad element. On the Tenni, the rump bumper is a little different, being covered in the so-called suede (which should, AFAIK, actually be called "rough-out" leather). The non-Tenni rump bumper is black injection-molded rubber. I don't know how hard it would be to get rubber rump bumpers made. I plan to cut something to size and cover it with black marine PU to match the seat, stapled on the back. Cheers, Frey1 point

This is a no brainer seriously. Repair the cracking with some fibreglass repair kit if it's minor and possible on the back of the cowl. So a fibreglass repair patch to regain it's strength and fill any slight issues on the visible face with the glass resin and the sand it back with wet and dry carefully. For the matching matt finish buy a can of matt clear 2 pack and spray it. Quality carbon will always have a clear coat to protect the resin from the sun and all the differences are is if it's clear or gloss matt. I've done several carbon repairs this way and even patched carbon parts with carbon cloth scraps. I bought a set of carbon side covers from a member here and he had cut out a keyhole section of the L/H cover for a rear shock reservoir hose. I repaired it with some fibreglass resin and some scrap Carbon cloth I have laying around. I just put a patch on the back of the panel and let it dry then cut out a couple of keyhole shaped piece of carbo matt and resined it in place to fill the cut out and level it up. I didn't even bother with getting it perfectly flat with resin and sanding it back and shooting a bit of clear over it as it was so good I didn't bother. I've taken an image in the worst possible light and angle to show the repair and then a general shot of what you'd see from a foot away fitted to the bike. 99% of people wouldn't even spot it when fitted unless I pointed it out. Another hour of messing about and it would be nigh on a perfect repair. Almost no skill required and a $12 fibreglass repair kit and some give away carbon matt offcuts. Ciao1 point

Thought positive was a good thing, obviously not concerning covid. No problem, usually in the cave this time of the year anyway. Dunlop Sport Smart fitted, titanium bolts for driveshaft, finished regulator upgrade, extra 70amp start relay, cleaning job coming along. Stay healthy guys. Cheers Tom.
