Forget the aluminium it'll be a loose sloppy mess in a few thousand klms. It's also needs to have a relatively high natural friction in the threads so it has an inbuilt stays where it's been adjusted to anti vibration design. Plastic is perfect for this and as I mentioned on another board Delrin would seem to be a good choice. I'd be interested in one or 2 myself in plastic but not aluminium. There's a reason the oem is plastic. Ciao3 points

The options being made available to us on this piece are pleasantly surprising. Looks like I am "firm" on satin 2x2 for the booty lid. As for those fitted oval canister badges, they have a story rooted similarly to this effort. In the early days ( ), we had a member that was a seat builder, one Rich Maund. My Moto Guzzi round cf canisters (likely built by Mistral) were delivered (after some typical delay of months) with a special plaque riveted to their sides that was not pictured in the (photocopied pages) "catalog" of accessories when my Sport was new. I was determined to buy everything available from the beginning, both to support my dealer and accept that these pieces would be in limited supply. I must say, I was rather crestfallen to discover these badges riveted to my lovely, new (and expensive) cf canisters . . . So I drilled out the rivets, popped new ones into the holes, and blackened them. And tried not to see them. Sometime later, I saw Rich had these etched, shaped medallions fitted to his Sport. He had an extra set and I ponied up for them. I had to move them to replacement cans (thank you @joe camarda!) after my 2003 crash. They are typically hidden under my ugly (but useful) Tekno panniers. But, ain't they sweet?3 points

Wow...Indeed...Carilo was one of my favorite spots to visit, play golf and enjoy the seaside, we spent a lot of time there and in Pinamar on many occasions for ocean side visits. It's a very special place. I still have a favorite golf wind breaker from there that I use till today! A lot has changed since the early 2000's for sure...so many stories to tell of that time. Time for a factura and a lagrima one day to reminisce! I left in October 2002, so just missed an overlap there. We had offices in Vicente Lopez, then San Isidro and then Belgrano. We lived in Alto Palermo at the time (Juncal y Salgueiro)... Now...Lockhart (affectionately known as the Capital of BBQ in Texas), not more than a 5-10 minute wait at Blacks, no need to queue up like in Franklin or other places that you have to get up at the crack of dawn to have a chance at getting some BBQ. Well worth the visit, since LowRyter has declined to show up for BBQ after the race, I'll transfer the invitation over to you - my treat! Of course, if both show up, will be entertaining! Bluebonnets - it's a bit of a stretch, but I did see a lot on the way up and back from Dallas last weekend...another good place to look is between Fayetteville and Hwy 71 on the way to La Grange...that road typically has Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in abundance. A nice stop at Orsak's in Fayetteville makes a good coffee/pie break along the way. TGIF!2 points

It seems we have plenty to talk about! I am familiar with Punta del Este, since many Argentinians spend their vacation there. I like Uruguay, but I always preferred Carilo to spend time on the sand. I have lived in Argentina since 2003. I have an apartment in Belgrano. I was initially thinking to purchase at Puerto Madero, but I decided that only foreigners lived there, and I favored a place less "touristy". Argentina is a place I would really enjoy touring on my Guzzi; unfortunately, it is no longer as pleasant as it used to be. As for the 911, it is a costly hobby, and I am glad that I found a justification to part from it. As it is at Einer's, using the space for the Le Mans is so much more convenient. I can even make use of the central stand without any difficulty. It was that, or purchasing a house with a larger garage... Mike Haven said he does not work on Porsche. His atelier is full of BMW and Mercedes Benz, no Porsche. Actually, the leak is more like an "anal" reaction. I wish I was different, but even a few drops of oil ruin my life. I like perfection. Of course Einer found many other things wrong with the car. I am replacing the four shocks too, thus wheel alignment, since they are dropping the power train, it is a good opportunity to do some preventive maintenance. The quotation says that I am going to lay away twice the purchase price of the Guzzi.... Don't know Lockhart, but I have had it with those BBQ pits who have lines that form from 8:00 on week-ends. I think the Texas Monthly should make a list of the "unknown" Texas style barbecues. On a very sad note, I have been unable to find any Bluebonnets this year.... do you have a tip? I went to Brenham, Chapel Hill, looked at the usual places... nada!2 points

I haven't and they dont have knock sensors either. Same as the Lambda closed loop system only operates in steady state conditions and as the V11 is a Sporting motorcycle it doesn't see a lot of steady state operation unless you're droning along a freeway. That's why you can disable the Lambda system which many do and the bike runs equally as well if not better. The 15m/rc has no ability to adjust for different octane fuels. The octane rating of the fuel and what Lambda reads are not related. Ciao2 points

Huh. I was thinking that I should replace mine by a nyloc nut, or a pair of plain nuts. I only touch it when checking the throttle bodies are synchronized. It's not something I would adjust while riding, so it doesn't need to be so big.2 points

Is that a hammer I see? So, I was driving past the powdercoater today and stopped in to see how they were doing with my porkchops. They have now stripped the chops three times because they can't get a good result. Gotta give them credit for trying hard. Hope to update on progress this time next week. I think they'll just shoot some scrap first. Good thing this is the spare set of chops and it's not going to keep the Tenni or Bubbles off the road.1 point

Back to COTA... Marc Marquez is here for the win. During FP1 he was not showing all his cards. Did not try the time attack, and still managed 5th at 0.4 from the top!!! Aprilia are still there, this time with Maverick. It looks like we are going to have a real race on Sunday, not a Marquez solo, or so I think.1 point

In the middle of replacing the petcock I had ordered back in late 2017, and casually decided to look at this thermistor/fuel level sensor also. Just had to order one of these from Curtis at Harper's as it's out of stock at Stein Dinse. Prices have gone up...was $104, now $260...rare part indeed, but he has a couple available in case anyone needs one. As I'm deep into a tank off exercise, I noticed the black wire had disconnected at the plastic plate area, the gray/whitish wire was hanging on by a thread, and all of the plastic shrink wrap was brittle and hardened. Time to refresh, along with a couple of other parts. Amazing what one finds when going thru with a fine tooth comb doing the Tank Off exercise.1 point

Docc, In your last post you indicated that you were interested in the Euro Motoelectric response to me about the Odyssey PC545 compatibility with the EME MG-VoltRect, see below. I appreciated the quick EME response but can't say it was very helpful. FWIW, I use a Deltran Battery Tender Jr. on ALL my stuff (Odyssey, Yuasa, Everstart & Motobat) Art Hi ART, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, your battery may well work with our VoltRect. We have many customers that use these batteries with no problems. The reason we caution you is because in some cases the battery and VoltRect do not communicate well with the end result being that the either the battery or VoltRect get fried. You probably use a battery tender that is specific to your battery and will not work on the older lead-acid or AGM batteries – so it’s logical that the old charging system on the bike may not work with the modern technologically advanced batteries. Regards Norman Schwab Euro Moto Electrics 1.303.526.0901 2505 W 2nd Ave | Unit # 15 Denver, CO 80219 | USA From: guzziartSent: Thursday, April 7, 2022 1:39 PMTo: Info <info@euromotoelectrics.com>Subject: MG- VoltRect Hi, I'm in the process of diagnosing a charging system (under charging) problem on my '03 Moto Guzzi V11 Lemans. While checking price & availability for regulator/rectifiers & stators, I noticed the following in the description for your MG- Volt Rect. Could you please let me know why you don't advocate use of your product with the Odyssey battery? USE OF ODYSSEY BATTERY ( DRY CELL DESIGN) AND LITHIUM IRON BATTERY NOT RECOMMENDED OR SUPPORTED FOR WARRANTY The reason I ask is because I have had an Odyssey PC545 battery in this bike since 2006 and replaced it in 2020 with another new PC545. I have not had a battery or charging system problem until yesterday when I noticed that the bike no longer charges at idle. I guess where I'm going with this is, the OE charging system performed acceptably with the PC545 and with your MG-VoltRect I shouldn't expect the same results....possibly? The price of your MG-VoltRect is more appealing than the OE offering but there is no way that I would want to go back to the OE style battery the bike came with when it was new in '03. Thank you, Art Northeast Ohio1 point

Hi, Thanks for the quick responses! Tom...I looked at the Roadstercycle website, looks good! Is the OEM reg/rect on our bikes Shindengens? Also, I will try to determine if a voltage drop exists in the r/r reference circuit between the batt+ & the r/r but I'm kinda thinking a volt drop in that circuit would lead to an overcharge condition??? idk. Docc...I grounded the reg/rect case back in 2020 when I replaced the old PC545 with a new PC545. At the same time, I was also doing other preventive maint stuff (stator pin connector replaced) on the bike and had guzzidiag running which is how I now know I have a problem because guzzidiag was indicating 14.1vdc@1100rpm then, I'm running off the batt at idle now. I'll check the fuses for signs of heat/poor connections & batt connections. The relay terminals are all very clean & tight. I hope to get back out to the garage tomorrow to check the stator voltage. Thanks again for your quick response & advice, Art1 point

Good question. He mentioned it in a "Wanted" thread here and says it is listed on WG. I cannot see anything on WG. Perhaps @Luke would consider posting a link here? Looks like a very nice V11 . . .1 point

Where is Luke's bike listed? Can't seem to find it. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk1 point

Turns out I have quite the mix: 1x1 large weave satin front fender, chin pad, side panels; 1x1 small weave hugger (a bit more sheen); 2x2 satin Mistral cans; and 2x2 gloss booty lid. Guess I can't screw it up too badly, whatever I do. Thinking the blue weave will look pretty sweet on the champagne (especially if I keep the gunmetal pork chops). Revised sheet to reflect @footgoose's happiness with his current black booty bonnet. @p6x, can I give y'all editing privileges? Maybe we will get Google "Sheet bombed"? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MG4LL0PE9ZBEyB7L9jmyZ16-ZkO3rMrBdcrVWVHjOmU/edit?usp=sharing Off topic (sorry), but @docc, where did you find those MG eagle oval badges on those Mistrals? My Mistral stickers are badly faded and I haven't been able to find new. Those badges would nicely resolve the problem (if they would fit oval cans -- I know yours are round).1 point

Wow guys, wow…. Luke, your bike is stunning! I sat on a brand new red 2004 naked at FBF right before I found my Silver 2000 red frame. Love the color. I believe it’s worth all of the asking price, especially considering the pistons, cam, cans and map. It’s just more than I can swing now. I wish I could, but I’d have two unload 2 hard to sell bikes first.1 point

I once mentioned to a friend how sketchy the tubular spindle is to support the front, especially with the forks removed. Clever fellow found every way imaginable to support the front. While sending me a gloved message . . .1 point

Dropped some parts off at Riggeals this weekend. I took him my matte side panel (to match), my gloss hump, and an OEM hump. Here's the quote: C/F seat hump: Prototyping and mold = $550; each hump = $130. If 6 of us want humps, we're at ~220. If we can get a few more folks involved, we can get the price under $200 per item. Just in case anyone is interested, C/F side covers: Prototyping and mold $710; each unit $110. I didn't ask, so I don't know if the mold for the other side could be easily (cheaply) fabricated (assuming L and R are symmetrical). Possible we could get a discount if there are other parts Guzzisti on the motha of all V11 forums want made in batches (tank chin pad, fenders, etc.) We're looking at 3 months for wait and manufacture. We'd own the molds. I'm in on a seat hump if at least 5 others are on board. If we get that far, I'd need to know weave and finish choices. Likewise, @docc, may be worth putting out an APB calling all C/F parts wanters. Cheers, Frey1 point

Just spoke to a guy in Gettysburg who's been doing fiber and carbon manufacturing for decades (mostly dragster bodies). It happens that his shop is directly on a reasonable route for my upcoming trip, so I'll take an OEM hump, a matte carbon bit off the Tenni, and my current damaged carbon hump. I'll let you know what he quotes and then get a sense of what yinz all would want for options (weave, gloss/matte).1 point

As suggested, I tried Volvo Part 946703 ball socket on the RH throttle body. This Volvo Part fits perfectly just as the Mercedes part 0009930461 does. I used the Volvo part instead of the Mercedes part, as it is plastic, and has a groove in it which can retain grease, and catch grit. I now have a spare Mercedes rod end to give away if anyone wants it. PM me. Then I made a brass bush for LH throttle lever connection to the link rod. The brass insert in the LH throttle body arm was worn enough that the LH throttle opened before the RH throttle and TPS began to move. I bored the brass insert to take a thin wall brass bush made from a section from an old telescopic radio antenna. Now that there is no noticable play in either the LH link or the RH ball & socket, I expect synchronizing will be easier at both idle and higher RPM. Ta, Marty.1 point

The plastic throttle link rod ball socket on my 03 V11 had 1mm slop. Thanks to this forum, I went to the local Mercedes dealer here in New Zealand. After a 5 day wait for shipping, they supplied a metal ball socket which is a perfect fit, costing NZ$21.44. They tell me that this part is common to many MB cars 1970-1980. MB P/N A0009930461. This is a different P/N from the longer one mentioned by BruceReader > Todd of MPH > P/N 0009918822, which may be just as good. I'd prefer to fit a plastic socket if I could, as the plastic seems to wear instead of the ball. The ball will be harder to repair after another 80,000km if this hardened metal socket will wear the ball. Meantime, I'll have to keep it greased. The original plastic ball socket weights 2g, but the MB part is 9g. Being me, I couldn't leave it alone, so I ground wrench flats on it, which got it down to 8g but then I had to paint it black. I hope that this is helpful, and thanks for all the other excellent contributions. Marty1 point
