  4. Picked my Rosso Corsa up from Twiggers in Loughborough today, following throttle body balance & fixing a slow puncture that was due to a leaky valve. Great ride back home, with the bike more responsive than ever

  7. Yup, that's ma boy Adam. Hope he didn't talk your ear off for an hour during your stop. It was great chatting with you at CV, passing each other by in Coffeyville, KS (that was you, right?) on the way home. I'll PM you cell/email for that selfie you took.

  9. Mostly had to work on other house projects yesterday, but fwiw did compare several aluminum gray paints sprayed on some scrap aluminum to the original alt cover and the turn signal cover, and this Seymour “original non smudge aluminum finish” looked to be a very close match. And it says its good for engine blocks and such. Will see how it really looks later on the actual items that need the paint, and next to the VHT if it ever arrives.

  10. Hi, I have a 2017 Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory as my second bike and Nordschleife-tool. The Tuono's performance, handling, gearshifter (blipper!), brakes, etc. are in a different league than the Guzzi. This said, it is much easier (and much less frustrating) to enjoy the Guzzi at legal speeds than the Tuono. With the Tuono, you always feel like wanting to go faster. I am 187 cm and while the upright seating position on the Tuono is obviously more comfortable, the Le Mans offers me more leg room. Suspension comfort seems similar (both are Ohlins and adjusted to my weight (76 Kg)). Even though the Tuono and the Guzzi are extremely different bikes, I enjoy riding both of them, adjusting my riding style (and expectations!) to their (very different) character.

  12. Yep. If you are putting weight on the bars, it affects the bike's handling, not to mention hand, wrist, shoulder, and neck pain. Don't ask me how I know..

Images from the "ad" or "listing" can be direct-linked by right clicking the source's images and selecting "Copy Image Link" to paste into your post here. Sometimes they display, sometimes the image is blocked. Often, these links go dead later.

  16. For my tastes they're a bit too modern, complicated and I "think" tuning and design is more on the leading edge of the spectrum. From reading Pete's posts over the years, I think he has a good opinion of the brand. I read the local ricky racers, raving about the Apes abilities and attributes, but I don't ever recall them describing them as comfortable. fwiw ymmv

  17. It’s all about core strength and hugging the tank with your knees. When I started thinking about this it transformed riding my V11 for me. Try to keep the pressure off of your wrist, like your hands are almost floating on the bars, like playing the piano. This is why I put tank grips on my bike. It helps. Depending on what pants I was wearing, sometimes it was hard to grip the tank and not slide. Find a good Pilates studio and practice Pilates. It’s not like hippy-dippy yoga; it’s German and is very efficient. The Tuono is a fantastic bike, handles great, gobs of power, easy to ride. The new base model, the RR, not the Factory, now has a bit taller windscreen, more bar rise, and lower pegs. I have seen these bikes fitted with a rack and bags, and I think it would make an awesome sport touring bike. Are you near AF1 Racing? They probably have one you could demo.

  19. Got a few stops in today on the way up to Kansas…Lufkin Texas Forestry museum, 3 stops in Gladewater and 3 stops in Paris Texas. and now for some V11 content…I’m standing at my bike after getting something to drink at a gas station I think near the town of Henderson and a guy comes up and says hello and says his stepdad rides a Guzzi and we chat for a bit and he’s showing me pics of various bikes and one of a Lemans!!! No shit! Who is he…none other than Leroy from Joplin with his red Lemans also headed to Cedar Vale this weekend! Small Guzzi world!!! P6x…by the way I found Ethanol free gas also in Paris right at the exit to go north to Hugo. I think it was 87 or 89…can’t quite remember. Anyway, Norge is running smooth, averages 41 mpg over the 400 miles today with some “spirited long runs” on the Indian turnpike and running 70-80 most of the day.

  20. Pretty sure I learned this set-up from Andy (along with a boat load of other stuff . . .). Okay, I remember now that the bolts screw up through the threaded nuts welded to the underside of the subframe. I was still nervous about them loosening and topped them with flange nuts. The bolts are too short to fully engage the "locking" nuts, so I drenched them in blue LocTite. Like Andy, been there > a long time < . . . I just measured and this drops the front of the battery basket 0.360"/ ~9mm (almost 3/8"!) because of the thickness of the basket metal plus the thickness of the subframe plate and the thickness of the welded nuts underneath) . . .
