  1. G'day folk's Well negotiations have taken a startling turn for the better.... We have a long weekend coming up in a couple of weeks and the minister has given her approval for a 3 x day getaway! WooHoo And you wouldn't believe it we are currently having significant weather issues down here for the first week of winter just to rub my nose in it! So we have a week from Saturday for it to ease up so we can get away. The high country is definitely OUT but we have an alternative if Good ole Mother nature comes to the party.... Fingers and Toes are crossed.... Cheers Guzzler

  3. I've had a Ballabio and a I have a LeMans. Mis-Shifts for me are 90%+ position of my foot. In fact my lever is setup for the boots I wear, and if I wear shoes instead, it's all sorts of problems. Yeah!! I know !!! but seriously. Asjusting the lever position can make a world of difference. The other 10% is when I start to "find" nuetrals, it's because it's either time for an oil change or not enough oil in there. YMMV

  6. Yep, go into your bathroom and look in the mirror and you'll see him. I've just dealt with a Ford dealership service department and I can tell you they exceeded my previously help poor opinion of dealership techs. it's a disgrace when you talk to a dealer tech and you know 10 times more about the issue and the options to fix it then they do.

  8. My friends Mike and George went down to Quail a week ago to show off George's Ducati. Mike made a little video about it as he's apt to do. There were a ton of Guzzis down there so I thought I'd share it with y'all. There will be a part 2 to the video that will probably come out next Sunday.

  9. I know. At the top of the rivalry between MB and VR, Max always got the short end of the stick. Like other duels, those two guys were a motivation to come back for more.... On the day MotoGP retired number 46, they also inducted Max Biaggi as one of the "legends". I will always remember him from the most extreme wheelie on a race track, almost backwards....

  10. Alright, a couple more points and I'll pipe down . . . What year/miles is your V11, @KenBlake? There was a recall on the early Sports 1999-2001. Click here to view the recall notice and serial number range. Shims for the inboard side of the lever pivot: And, finally, @Lucky Phil's outstanding "How to . . ."

  11. G'day I had issues like this with mine early in the piece too. Having the lever sorted out made a huge difference. Still get the odd one but mostly my fault... ie tired/ foot position blah blah Cheers Guzzler

  12. I am not the big expert here, but my experience is to first look and the external aspects of the shift linkage. It is fairly common for the external shift linkage to bind or catch, and that can cause shifting issues. To be fair, ours shifts pretty well. And while it is possible to find a false neutral here or there it is rare to actually hit them in use. Usually they are more likely when looking for neutral, finding a false neutral instead of the real neutral.

  13. There are some members on here from your neck of the woods, and they may have some suggestions. But for the most part I tend to agree with Phil, the best Guzzi mechanic is the owner of the Guzzi. I am just looking into sorting why our V11 Sport won't charge the battery. Can't be that hard. What sort of issue is it? What still needs sorting?

  14. You are correct in stating that Rossi started it. It has to do with moving the barycenter, something well defined in Astronomy. Nasa explains it better here: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/barycenter/en/ Remember back in the 70's, riders did not really lean out of their bikes. At most, they would extend their knee. The principle remains the same. The world Superbike' pilots don't do it either.

  15. The attendance has been a mixed bag, some rounds of MotoGP having attendance up while others have been down. I imagine the costs play a large part in that, I heard the French round had reasonable ticket prices while other rounds have had high ticket prices. It will be interesting to see if Marc Marquez can come back from this surgery and return to the front. Or it could be the beginning of the end for him. I hope not. I am very happy Aprilia is going to have a second team. But I am dumbfounded as to why they signed Vinales for two more years. It will be interesting to see who they sign to ride the other two bikes. There is certainly no shortage of top level riders with no ride after Suzuki has bailed and Jack Miller is likely to be out at Ducati. We may get Rins and Miller on the other two Aprilia's. I am not sure why people are so excited to see Mir at Honda. The Honda doesn't seem that far off of the front, but I really don't know if Mir is the guy to get that last little bit out of it. Mir doesn't seem like the kind of racer who is worth that little bit extra, he is usually more the consistent guy who only won one race on his way to the title. Rins seems to have more speed than Mir, you just need to get Rins to stop crashing so much. Easier to teach the faster guy to crash less than teach the slower guy to go faster.

  16. A half-hour of web search turned up zero DU bushings in 43mm. Closest I can find is 45mm- but they are cheap. https://www.hydraulicszone.com/mdu-045x050x012.html You might consider sourcing them from the WP service center, if they're not prohibitively expensive. Pyramid parts ships to US, which is about $70 US if it's the same as things going the other direction. https://pyramid-parts.com/collections/fork-bushes I'd suggest that 43mm is simply outside the industrial standards, and fork manufacturers have them made in quantity to suit. If that's the case, your sourcing is limited to motorcycle fork suppliers. <shrug> Doable, but again considering the price and convenience (less for you than me) I gave mine to the WP service guys.

  18. Those 22 hundreds would have been nice to have to replace a few of the missing features though... but its a Guzzi, so it got good bones, all the rest seems to be cosmetics.

  24. Before you put the sealant around the outside of the cover, you want to do a "dummy run" and offer up the selector plate to the gearbox and make sure that it is going to go straight on. Otherwise the sealant will skin over while you muck about with it. The gear selector mechanism must be in the same gear as the gearbox for it to fit. It is easiest to have them both in neutral, unless you know for certain what gear the box was in when it locked and you haven't moved any of the selector forks. You can set the gear selector mechanism in neutral, and put each of the selector forks in the gearbox in the middle of their travel, which corresponds to the box being in neutral. You might still have to slightly adjust selector fork positions by trial and error until they match up exactly. Then clean the mating surfaces of any oil, apply sealant sparingly, and bolt up quickly. Good luck! - Jim.
