  3. I'd say the powder I have is more satin than flat. That said, "This ain't the Burger King. You don't get it your way, you get it my way or you don't get the SOB." (old tool room saying.) If you don't like it, the powder coat will make a fine primer coat for whatever version of black you want.

  4. Ok.. flat black powder coat it is. I'll get the material ordered. Here's the deal. Send me a PM here, or email 59periodChuckatgmailperiodcom with your mailing address and how many you want. When they are done, I'll send them out. Cost is still US $50 each plus actual shipping, no fondling charge. I'll let you know how much shipping was after they are posted. Be patient.. I'm in the final push on the little airplane I'm building, and will have to make time to do this run.

  5. @docc you were bang on! the right side was too far out and was preventing the throttle linkage from closing properly. adjusted that out, then i reset with the left side adjustment. sitting happily at around 1100 now. you guys are awesome! thank you

  6. So I finally got these 43mm forks back together save for the cartridge installs. The sliders were re chromed and ground and I re assembled the axle/calliper brackets onto them. I sourced a set of seals and the bushes we in good condition. I also sourced a seal driving tool as well. So my methodology was to cut to size a piece of very thin clear plastic probably only .3mm thick from a Chocolate box as it happens and smooth the edges and wrap that around the end of the sliders to guide the seals over the slider end and upper guide bush recess then feed the dust and oil seal onto the plastic protector get them onto the main chrome section and remove the plastic protector. Work the seals and retainer clip and lower bush and it's washer down the leg then install the upper guide bush and fit the slider into the stanchion. I then used the seal driver to install the lower bush with it's washer on top. This was really only a tap fit and didn't really require any hammering. Next was the oil seal and the driver was used just as a means to push the seal into place. So with the leg up side down on the bench grab the seal driver and pull it down hard and the lubed seal just pushes in without a lot of force. Then a couple of impacts with the driving tool just to make sure it's seated and check the retaining clip groove is clear and install the clip, remove the tool and push the dust seal into place. Installing the bush and seal was very easy and requires no real hammering etc. I had ordered a set of Andreani cartridges and they dont fit. The caps are the wrong thread pitch and dia for the 43mm forks of the later bikes. Andreani and the seller weren't interested in sorting the problem so I've sent them back for a refund. Incredibly, although I sent Andreani and the seller images and measurements and proved to them that their cartridges they claim fit all V11 Sports from 01-2006 dont fit the later 43mm equipped bikes they seem disinterested in helping and are still advertising them as fitting all bikes from 01 onwards. This situation has arising before with another member here in 2019 and they still haven't sorted it. I mentioned that this was NOT a new issue and sent them the link from here and still no interest from them. I may get Maxton to make me some cartridges or I may just use the originals, don't know yet. Forgot to take images of the forks before assembly, sorry. Phil

  7. Very Nice Fuel Cooler! I just bought a V11 Sport this year after selling my first one in 2004. The folks on V11Lemans are as good as it gets to help you with any issues you need to sort out.

  11. Sadly, the oak floor is just an illusion. What you see is vinyl plank flooring……over concrete! It’s actually pretty nice and durable. We all know that the possession of a spine frame is the best indicator of being a true gentleman! My wife would never let me park on a real oak floor………

  12. Agreed. Probably won’t even need to re-do the tune, just reset the idle if necessary.

  13. When you do your Super-tune on this bike , you want to keep this idle kicker out of the equation . You will tighten it after everything else is done .

  14. Pretty cool: @Kane looks to make nine. I went back looking for the colors and dates of the runs. Somehow, I couldn't piece the sequence together. Chuck's first CAD, august24, 2016: First run, pure (badass) zinc chromate. September 5, 2016:

  15. I’ve got a green one on the bike, and a black on in reserve, but what the heck, if you’re going through to trouble of doing another run, I‘ll take one. They’re great! Chuck, you are awesome, and this place rocks, so I’m in. What color are you thinking for this batch?

  16. True, this matter of leaking between the wires (JB Weld repaired "rotation"/timing sensor shown):
    2 points
  17. It might well be seeping through the wires between strands, pretty hard to seal, you sometimes see a dedicated seal with solid wires potted for that reason. On the same note the rotation sensors leak through the body, the transition between the centre steel core and teflon is almost impossible to seal.

  18. Good day everyone. after following the decent tune up instructions found here my 2002 Le Mans still runs like crap . way too rich the plugs are black. the distinguished previous owner installed this Techlusion TFI thing ….which no matter what I do It makes the bike runs too rich. if I just remove it ? Is the 02 ECU ( believe is the 15M) good enough, right? I don’t really like PC bla bla bla… I am not a computer guy and the 02 throttle body efi seems so simple I don’t want to mess with it. i thought the bone stock factory ecu should be good enough…. Am I correct? Let me know what do you think thank you marco

  19. So, while not a "one off," the narrow tail looks to be a "custom made" product of Moto International. Cute name with the text compromised by a typographical error: "out [sic] liposuction tail section" should read "our"? Looks like they came unpainted and >some assembly required.< Cool find!

  22. I got this tailpiece from Cadre Cycle in Ohio. They found and sent a bag of hardware that went with it, and the install instructions. It's a Moto International 'flat side' accessory piece, made to facilitate luggage which is what I thought it was from the beginning. Good to add certainty.

  23. @FuelCooler I see that you park you V11 on oak floor, while the rest of us use concrete. You are a true gentleman then....

  24. That is great, thank you Chuck! Take your time, finish your flying machine, no hurry on my side, don’t just go take off into the sunset... On the finish side of things, would it be possible to have a satin black instead of flat? That’s how I’m having all my little parts that sit in the background refinished.

  27. I did wonder if it was coming through the wires or whether it wasn’t sealing around the aluminium crush washer at the bottom. The wires have snapped off now with the weight of the joint going on and off. I will have one last attempt at trying to put some sealant around where the wires join the sensor and where sensor fits in the tube. Not sure if it will help if I block up the holes in the bottom of the sensor tube. I have managed to solder the wires back on. If I had the problem with the crank sensor I would probably just buy a replacement as car ones are a 10th of the price (£10 for a 2 wire one or about £23 for a 3 wire one in UK). I don’t think the fuel sensors are as cheap and I don’t fancy anything Heath Robinson style in the tank.

  28. Yeah, the question "is it because of a chip shortage or demand?" Or is the dollar just worth less, a whole lot less.

  29. OK, let's close that deal, I'll take two to make it ten. I personally would prefer mines in black, powder coated if possible. IIRC Chuck made a run of powder coated ones, otherwise I'll take them raw as I have a bunch of parts to send to the PC. @Chuck? And thanks to everyone who raised their hands for this!

  33. Ha! The entire V11 Sport. Sorry, I’m still in a state of shock.

  34. I agree, it’s a 6K bike. Right now almost all of these V11 Sports are 6k give or take 500. Once sorted out, they are pretty much priceless. I wouldn’t get rid of mine for nothing.

  35. I saw the bike there in person a couple weeks ago while visiting a friend of 35 years who works there and has for as long as we have been friends. Its a consignment bike . Of course I didn't ride it but it looked nice...If they have it on their used bike floor you can feel pretty confident its good..they are particular and don't put junk in their showroom, and any bike they sell is never "cheap " and they aren't usually in any hurry to sell, new bikes are their thing.

  36. Realize there is also a right side idle screw that can hold the throttle linkage open. It is rather obscured (below in red) and difficult to turn. Perhaps a "ball head" hex key would be helpful. @Pressureangle's advice about an air leak is right on.
    1 point
  37. Your engine can only idle high if it's getting enough air to support the RPM. If your idle screws are closed and your throttle blades are closed, you probably have a rubber boot leak, or your balance holes are open. Double check your 'choke' to see if it's holding the throttles open when in the 'off' position. My own has to be disassembled to allow the throttles to close completely. I can imagine a piece of debris behind the handlebar lever on mine, trigger style not rotated.

  38. I paid mine $6,000, December 2020. 8,800 miles on a still odometer. 2004 V11 Le Mans standard Red. Given the prices at which pre-owned cars are going in the USA, with new cars being sold above MSRP by dealers because of the chip shortages, I am not surprised that it extended to motorcycles. Prior to purchasing mine, I checked typical V11 prices in Europe, and they were very similar for same range of mileage and condition. But when I look at this one, and this is a completely arbitrary opinion, it does not feel like $7,000.

  39. Hear, Hear good people. The Lucky Phil engineered/ Chuck developped shifter extented bracket is not dead! If you want to own a historic part, spawned from a community of dedicated preservationist of the mighty V11 Sport and smooth out yer shifting in the process, now is the time to sign up... Thanks @Chuck

  40. No. It's the reluctance to deal with people disparaging the seller because 'his price is unrealistic' and 'Ah hain't never see'd one sell that high, bought one fifteen years ago for less than half that'. If you can't make an offer, you can't be expected to pay the asked price. People aren't what they were 20 years ago, especially not online.

  41. Overall, an interesting pair of designs. The lines are bit too sharp and angular for my personal tastes. I like the monoposto look, but assume any production vehicle would have a passenger seat and pegs, which would cause some design changes. So is this kind of the return of the spine frame? Form the looks of it, it would seem that the red subframe could be a separate part. And there must be a some sort of sub-frame at the front of the engine, which is not red in this design.

  42. You can take the correct size wrench and loosen the nut by one flat and retighten the nut until it is SNUG . Or you can remove the tank and install a new o-ring and remove the tank 3 Xs , install a new low level sensor just to realize you could have done Step # 1 .

  43. couple things.... Chuck, is there a place (store) one can walk into and get PTI zinc chromate, and/or are other more easily obtained brands equally "good" too? this place http://www.aircraftspruce.com/neworderform.php has 'em, but at $18 a can and $14 to ship I want to look around first Docc, is there any way to get the photos back in a couple of important threads? Namely Lucky Phil's 'shift improvement' and the one for Roper plate installation. Pete did one and I think Greg feld as well.

  44. That is my understanding. Just a wash coat to stop corrosion with minimum weight.
