Has the battery been disconnected lately? With the extensive stack of ring terminals, it is very easy to let one slip (either the positive or the ground) and no power to the harness. With two relays, it is quite unlikely that both failed leaving neither a Hi- or Lo- beam. (Notably, the driving light is on an entirely different circuit from the headlights.) Some voltage, or continuity, testing at the switch would rule out a switch or connection failure there . . . [FWIW, the snarky "Why don't you just use the search function, noob ?" that appears de rigueur on every other forum I have ever attempted to interact with is precisely why we will not go there on V11LeMans.com. ]3 points

Got to thinkin', my '97 Sport-i has the ATS out in the open behind the fairing, since the airbox draws fresh air from the front of the fairing.2 points

Just bought it….. thank you so much.will report back as soon as I receive it . Thank you everyone for the patience have a great day2 points

Ahhhh ok now this is making sense and that could be the reason why it is so rich? one more question where do I buy a ATS ? thank you !!!!2 points
-
The ATS has as it's only purpose, to tell the computer the temperature of the air coming into the engine is. So you can literally hang a new ATS from the end of the connector and it will work, although it would probably not live long without a permanent mount. A simple bracket mounted anywhere near an intake, or between them, will suffice. If it's in the open, probably should be inspected periodically for debris and dirt.2 points

The headlight relay kit company you're referring to, is probably "Eastern Beaver". If you've already got the kit installed, I'd just work through and chase/clean the connections with Deoxit. Perhaps the relay has gone TU2 points

Yes it can quite easily. Built it up and fill in the threaded hole with weld and dress it with a die grinder back to original profile then drill and re tap the hole. Pre heat the whole spacer to around 150 deg C and weld it in a few stages to prevent distortion of the sealing faces. Phil1 point

At the risk of provoking ‚use the effing search function‘ comments, I have the following question (because I did and it produced too many results) back in 2010 or thereabouts I bought a relay set-up to by pass the original wiring, as my Scura wouldn‘t charge properly on shorter runs with the lights on. All of a sudden my headlight doesn‘t work, and in case (I have yet to investigate the cause) I need a new relay system the question is, where to get it? Iirc it was sold by a member in Singapore or thereabouts but is he still in business? Maybe better/different solutions have been developed since? I‘ve not been active here for ages, but I didn‘t sit on my hands, have restored a Le Mans III in the mean time.🙄 best, Tom1 point

@docc ah, that‘s a good one. I did remove the battery a month ago. just checked: bingo! if I hadn‘t had so much on my mind right now I could have thought of it myself. Usually if something suddenly doesn‘t work on a car or bike I just worked on, there is a strong causal link between the one and the other. you saved the day, many thanks!1 point

This air charge temp sensor is mounted in the post filter portion of the airbox . This location keeps dust , dirt , etc. off the sensor . This is to keep a true reading of the sensor. you need to come up with a good cover to keep this stuff off the sensor .1 point

Behind the fairing is the factory install on this early bike. My speculation is that somewhere along the way they found that airbox temperature was significantly different than 'outside' air, most likely sitting idling in heavy traffic. Add increasingly tight emissions requirements, and a simple change of venue for the ATS helped compliance, or at least made drivability/fuel mileage noticeably better. Can't know what the eyetalyun or European requirements were at the time.1 point

Exactly! I recall members with airbox removed fitting the ATS in a 35mm "film canister" (remember those? ) and mounting it in the air stream along the frame spine away from engine heat. Without the ATS, the ECU goes into some default mode. What do you see for Air Temperature in GuzziDiag?1 point

I have ZERO confidence that this 'mandate' is anything more than propaganda to push the sheeple into spending money on Chinese rare earth elements, enriching world investors who own portions of mining and manufacturing in China. Does anyone really believe that Politicians can cross the world petroleum industry? I might entertain a wager that BP and Shell own significant holdings in mining and battery manufacturing in China. The economics, environmental impact, and sustainability of battery powered vehicles is plain for anyone looking or even listening. It's non-existent on all 3 fronts. Yes, electric vehicles are interesting and useful. But they are in *no way* viable on a large scale.1 point

Hi Docc thank you so much , that might be the issue. but I don’t understand how do I fix it ? if the PO didn’t replace the ATS how do I correct this? everything was removed ( air box etc ) Thank you again.1 point

@80CX100 ah, Eastern Beaver, that rings a bell, many thanks👍 @docc, of course, Guzzi folk are friendly people. But that is indeed the response you can get on other forums. As far as the issue is concerned, I can see that the bulb filaments are OK. The fuse for the lights is OK, too. It is indeed Euro spec, it‘s number 226. To the best of my knowledge this Eastern Beaver harness has two relays. I noticed yesterday that the headlight was out (just the driving light was on) and haven‘t had time yet to pull things apart.1 point

My wife's V11 is an early red frame V11. I mention that because the forks are different depending on which V11 you have. That said, as I recall (it has been years) I pulled her forks apart using the rattle gun method. Then I used a nail at a set height in a door frame to hold the spring down while I took the cap off, although I have since bought a tool that holds the fork spring compressed. I used no special tools. Just some special thinking ;-)1 point

How can you be sure? Is it the color? The original looks the same, with two holes. See if you can measure from the rear mount hole to the furthest attachment hole . . .1 point
