  2. G'day mate The Welsh are renowned for their ... Singing in the Valleys. Kinda hard to imagine they don't lubricate their tonsils with an ale or 3 before during and more than likely afterwards.... Cheers Guzzler

  3. Gentlemen, thanks very much for your advice, I’ll try the mushroom plug, I’ve already ordered a new tyre but this 180/55 x 17 will fit my black framed V11’s so if I can salvage it and get some use from it, it makes a lot more sense than scrapping a virtually new tyre its been a bad month for tyres, 2 weeks ago whilst I was away my son was using my 330 Beemer, picked up a nail in a front tyre which deflated, but because it’s a run flat, it couldn’t be repaired, so a scrap tyre that was barely 5 months old, and being a front I can usually get +40,000 miles on RWD Beemers. I’d rather have a spare wheel & loose some truck space than the modern trend of run flats & tyre sealing foam… Rant over, thanks for your advice

  6. Surely. Just as are the camshaft position sensors. I bought one from Romania for $18 plus about $25 postage. No Fiat model that used this sensor were exported to the Western Hemisphere.

  7. This has me wondering if the real reason for moving the sensor into the airbox is to keep it dry, more than clean or in the perfect temperature (although all are served). I've never noticed any change when running wet or dry, but it wasn't on my radar either. I'll focus on that during the Where nobody gets home dry unless they wimp out early.

  8. I always install a Time-Sert in soft holes if it's been repaired, or even if it's a known point of failure and it's apart and accessible.

  9. I took the bike to a friend who is a highly skilled welder and fabricator, who said he can repair it, he just wanted to know what the base material is to help with wire selection.

  10. Unhappy. Happy! Pretty basic HOT<--> COLD Italian lady-ism. She's just wants your attention. Like: all of it! While you're waiting for parts, polish her heels. Er, I meant "wheels." She'll love you back.

  11. How 'bout it, @Baldini? (You don't have to admit to anything . . . )

  12. @docc ah, that‘s a good one. I did remove the battery a month ago. just checked: bingo! if I hadn‘t had so much on my mind right now I could have thought of it myself. Usually if something suddenly doesn‘t work on a car or bike I just worked on, there is a strong causal link between the one and the other. you saved the day, many thanks!

  16. This air charge temp sensor is mounted in the post filter portion of the airbox . This location keeps dust , dirt , etc. off the sensor . This is to keep a true reading of the sensor. you need to come up with a good cover to keep this stuff off the sensor .

  18. Has the battery been disconnected lately? With the extensive stack of ring terminals, it is very easy to let one slip (either the positive or the ground) and no power to the harness. With two relays, it is quite unlikely that both failed leaving neither a Hi- or Lo- beam. (Notably, the driving light is on an entirely different circuit from the headlights.) Some voltage, or continuity, testing at the switch would rule out a switch or connection failure there . . . [FWIW, the snarky "Why don't you just use the search function, noob ?" that appears de rigueur on every other forum I have ever attempted to interact with is precisely why we will not go there on V11LeMans.com. ]

  19. IDK they have 12 years to wrap it up. Given the last two, I'd say a lot could happen in 12. Even if the end is truly near, we are talking Italians here. Depends on the share holders in the end. They won't go quietly imo.

  20. Brilliant, an “English” boozer with a classic red telephone booth, and a silver V11. It doesn’t get any better than that. I always seem to park next to the old red telephone booth in Matlock Bath. The nearest boozer is just over the road…..

  21. I saw him the first time in 1964 when I was 12, My mother worked in a Big Hotel in the midwest and told me he was there and playing across the street in a Big Dance Ballroom which my Mothers friend owned. I found out thru my mom what room he was in and I camped outside the door for a couple hours in the afternoon until he came out and then I quietly rushed to ride down the elevator with him..he was nice..and said "Hello youngster"..He had his guitar case in one hand and a little Fender amp he was carrying in the other and was walking across the street to play..I tagged along my Mothers friend Daryl who owned the place, let me go backstage with him..and I just sat there in Awe until he went on..then I watched the whole show from back stage..the old amp he used was constantly shorting out and he would walk over give it a kick from time to time so it would play ..but he still sounded awesome to me...I had never heard music like that or seen a guy like that perform. I saw him once more there in the early 60's... The thing is he was REALLY careful with his money,( cheap) the venue's would have to supply his backup band ..sometimes they were simply Awful local kids and had never even heard his music...He would not play a note unless the promoter paid him in full in cash in advance.

  26. Due to overseas business travel commitments I’ve been away for most of the past five weeks, so no chance for much riding. Yesterday was home early, beautiful summer evening, decide to go on a ride to a local pub around 25 miles away for a bike meet. Haven’t used my Griso much recently, so forgoing the pleasure of a V11 off I went. During the evening picked up a nail in the rear tyre - brand new Metzler Sportec only a month old less than 50 miles usage! Nail close to the shoulder - tyre supplier tells me unrepairable - another new rear tyre at GBP£180 ! Why is it that only new tyres seem more prone to picking up nails etc That was one expensive ride
