  2. I spent 3 days last week in the Valleys between Swansea & Neath, and enjoyed sampling some Tomas Walkins Ale. There’s plenty of ale sunk in the valleys, it is an ex-mining region, and although the mines have long since closed the tradition lives on Here’s another gratuitous pic of my Rosso Corsa next to the Matlock telephone booth yesterday. The boozer is 20 yards away over the road, temperatures reached 80 deg F yesterday, the boozer was rammed

  4. Goodness me, listening to the clip I wouldn't categorize this as a slight rattle! "rhythmic light clunking" in my book but I can see how some would call it a rattle. Differences in language interpretation. It's a serious sound and I wouldn't ride the bike until I sourced the issue. It sounds like it's a gear selector sleeve catching on the drive teeth of one gear. So either the selector assembly is seriously out of adjustment or there is a partial failure in it somewhere. Is this bike fitted with a satin black gearbox or a wrinkle finish gearbox? There is also the issue of a failed selector sleeve which was covered by a recall on early boxes but if it's an early wrinkle finish gearbox they were affected as well and you need to account for ones that slipped through the net. You also need to account for replacement transmissions from previous owners and just a sleeve failure. It might also be worth looking at the large eccentric adjustment which people fiddle with when installed. It sounds like it's trying to engage 2 gears at once or not fully disengaging one gear when engaging another. It could also be a loose input shaft drive spline. I think doccs had that. You've also had the selector apart to replace the spring. Are the selector fork gear wheel teeth correctly indexed? Phil

  5. Nice report, @ScottMc! Thanks for chiming in! I'd say 41.5 mpgUS is on the high side of average for a V11. Although, 40-ish is not uncommon with a very steady throttle and no repetitive (rich cycle) restarts or cold temperatures. Surefire formula for reducing your fuel economy? Ride like docc : go out looking for tight, twisty roads to row the gears, drive hard out of the corners, blip the throttle on the downshifts, storm the straights = 36.5. At the current cost of premium fuel, that difference in fuel usage costs me $17.65US for 1,000 miles of riding. SOLD! (Of course, I also have to save up for tires and brakes . . . )

  6. I just got back from filling it up for the first time really looking at the numbers and got 41.5 mpg. Which from reading what you are saying seems about average. Good to know.

  8. I have in stock, no they aren't cheap but I have one. I'd advise replacing the pivot bolt at the same time as these stress and break easily.

  9. I always install a Time-Sert in soft holes if it's been repaired, or even if it's a known point of failure and it's apart and accessible.

  10. Brilliant, an “English” boozer with a classic red telephone booth, and a silver V11. It doesn’t get any better than that. I always seem to park next to the old red telephone booth in Matlock Bath. The nearest boozer is just over the road…..
