Hi folks! The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated, just like ol' Mark Twain said. All is good. I have been away from this splendid forum way too long. Hiatus is over, I hope. Not too many trips with Mizz Greenie so far. She runs like a dream, except for the occasional coughing at +/- 3500rpm. Last time I tried to hook up GuzziDiag it failed. I will try again. Would love to load Meinolf's map onto my 15M ECU I hope you all are well and having a good time. (The photo is from the lake Nord-Mesna last Saturday. Captured from my iPhone on a rock using Apple Watch as a self-timer. Yeah, I know.. fancy pants)8 points

Hello everyone…. I finally found the reason why my V11 was running too rich. mmhhhh it was due to a little “ accident “ I will let you know but the admin must promise not to Ban me from this forum ah ah granted all the necessary adjustments done were helpful and needed to be done such resetting the CO trim . learning to use guzzidiag, the ETS that was missing . but….. I think last time I have set the TPS ….I forgot to secure the two screw than hold it . and they got loose enough for the TPS to move way out of adjustment. funny eh?!!! the other day I thought I would star fresh again with checking the TPS and there I noticed the screws were loose …. connected the tester and TPS was out of scale. 🙈 brought it back to 157mV and the bike runs like a champ. I had to adjust the idle that was too high…but other than that…. Everything good sparks plugs are so clean… it might be a tad lean LMaoooo what a ……… ok we know what I mean. thank you everyone for the help and patience.6 points

Alrighty, now.. they are winging your way as we type. I've sent a PM or email to all. Please excuse the stilted language, I just copied and pasted the message and changed the amount as necessary. Thanks to all that have participated in this last run of shifter extenders. I know, I've said that before, but these are the best of the lot, IMHO. Rare and highly collectible, of course. Back to work on the airplane project..5 points

It's the transmission. Here's mine before the Caruso gears. I was a little disappointed that the gears are quieter than my chain was.5 points

Update: All the Lucky Phil Shifter Extenders are packed and labeled. Still need to fill out customs declarations in triplicate, and the mailing department will take them to the post office. Once she gets the exact mailing cost, no fondling charge.. I'll PM each of you with the total. Whew! Kind of reminds me of work..5 points

Can you see the "peg" engaged on your input hub? (Mine appears to have more of the shaft threads showing):2 points

I've lost track of how many times I've seen that for sale. Not rare, and certainly not a Coppa Italia2 points

My Sporti has the straight cut gearbox, which is generally considered a curse. I love the sound it makes though, at times it's louder than the engine. I've been through the box and everything is good, so far, it's just the noise it makes. As Phil said, sounds to me like he's off the throttle and the gears are running on the other face, if I was a gambling man, I'd put my money on the gearbox. The Sporti also has Joe's gears they don't (to my ear anyway) make anything like that sort of din2 points

I'd put my money on the gearbox for the whine. Gear mesh is obviously different on the drive and overrun faces and so a gearbox can "whine" in one direction and be silent on the other. My car whines at a specific speed in second gear on the overrun but not on the gas. These Dynotec bikes don't use steel cam gears but aluminium. They don't want the weight of steel gears for racing. Thats what Joe tells me. Phil2 points

I learned to love the sound of gear drive cams in the late 60s. Drag racing cars, then Nascar at a short track I worked at. At about the 2:05 point and later, the siren song can be heard. Bike must be fast as it appears to have melted the fairing around the rider.1 point

My '04 has clear signal lenses and the following is the combo I settled on. I have used these for about two years now - no problems. In addition to the side LEDS which use the OEM reflector, the bulbs have a projector lens on the ends which focus the light straight behind you. https://www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-Newest-Extremely-Bright-replacement/dp/B07BXNMNRF/ref=sr_1_22?crid=NJN75N30DW71&keywords=ibrightstar&qid=1658273217&sprefix=ibrightstar%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-22 And this flasher unit - adjustable blink rate -also works well. https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Flasher-Electronic-Signal-Adjustable/dp/B091PXFXFD/ref=sr_1_23?crid=1603YA1WSJQ6M&keywords=led+flasher+unit&qid=1658273542&s=automotive&sprefix=led+flasher+unit%2Cautomotive%2C147&sr=1-23 It even has the tab to fit in the OEM location.1 point

Rizoma responded to my inquiry saying they don’t have any incandescents. So wouldn’t be from them. I’ll order a singe set of LED’s for now.1 point

Ok, swinging a wild bat here. Since there's no obvious physical damage or disorder, let's go back to the facts; the only time you have noise is *in gear when the clutch is rotating* correct? If I read the transmission correctly, there are 4 shafts- the output, 2 gear shafts, and the input or clutch shaft. It appears that both of the gear shafts rotate with the output shaft always; that would place the noise on or around the clutch shaft. Check your bearings, see if the cages have any damage or disarray. Does the input feel dead smooth when you rotate it by hand? Is there any detectable movement to the shaft, either radially or axially? Are any gear shifting devices located on the clutch shaft- sliding gears or sleeves, shift forks? (again I'm not familiar with the particular arrangement) Look to see that any engagement dogs are centered between their fore and aft partners, especially if they float on the gearshafts and rotate with the clutch shaft (not output shaft) That should make a right mess of things.1 point

I don't have a picture now but the peg is still engaged and looks fine. Not bend or anything.1 point

So I went on a spirited ride the other weekend, winding up the Goose 5k-8k+ rpm curve to curve engine braking to set up the turn speed . It couldn't have been better except when I look down and saw engine oil dripping from the top of the transmission area. It ended up being the crankcase breather hose, cracked right above the hose clamp. My theory is the clamp had walked up to the end of the internal pipe and was clamping too tight around the original hose, until it inevitably cut the hose. The spirited riding just exposed the issue, I guess better off a few counties away from home instead of on the Cherohala Skyway.1 point

Yes they are all offset, I assume for the rear drive hub. Not really necessary, you can use washers and spacers and/or move the hanger to the inside or outside of the brackets to even them out, depending on your pipe flex.1 point

it's this one. '02 Sport with a painted seat cowl. Didn't realize they came with black forks.1 point

Yeah, the pin the lever is mounted on part#884033. The problem is the 6mm threaded bit that mounts in the footrest hanger, (From memory on Stelvios?). When it takes a biff it tends to over stress the part where that turns into the 12mm(?) part that the lever mounts on. It may not fracture immediately but there is a good chance it will down the track. If that occurs way off in urine drinking country and you don't have a spare it can really spoil your day. We nowadays replace them on any bike that has taken a tumble and give the original back to the owner to carry as a 'Spare'. It's not like they're super expensive or anything.....1 point

Don't discount the fact that the extra drag turning the in gear gearbox and clutch assy may be enough additional load to produce a noise where none exists when the shaft is running free. Worth a thought. Phil1 point

It never occurred to me the gear whine might be most noticeable on the overrun, engine braking . . .1 point

Didn’t stay overnight at Mallory, had to miss out on the MGCGB Chinese dinner washed down with copious supplies of booze to return home for a family BBQ. Retuned to Mallory early Sunday morning on the Griso to mix the Guzzi display in the tent up a little. Outside the tent one of our club members was warming up his racing 1100 Sport (entry no 470) to chase the various Yamaha TZR750’s, 900 Ducati’s & the odd Laverda. It was the only spine frame Guzzi participating in that days classic racing inside the tent it reached 90 deg F which for us is seriously hot1 point

For those that have been patiently waiting.. I haven't forgotten. Finished up machining and forming today, and have them in the parts washer. Still need to bead blast and powder coat. As one of our members says, though.. Comma but. I have one or two days left on the wing that is in the shop, and it has to be moved out before I can move the Ancient Airlines High Tech Powder Coater Oven (tm) in. We'll most likely ship early next week assuming the shipping department doesn't drop the ball.1 point
